From what I was reading a few years ago about Aldi's is that rather than shipping everything all over the country, they make strategic partnerships with local suppliers to sell the local products to save on costs. Not sure if it is true but my local Aldi's has a lot of local veggies and meat. I like that. Thanks for the video and happy belated 4th to you all. 🙂

Memories, memories. Hearing Lawrence call the little calf “sugar bit” reminded me of my Daddy. He always called me “sugar foot”. He would be 118 now. Miss that beloved Poppa. I’ll see his spirit again someday. After God the father, son and Holy Spirit, he’s the one I want my spirit to feel. That’s my Dad. 🙏👏. Hey don’t discount the old bulls. Try this ice cream recipe it won't let me post any links. Blackberry Ice Cream
Yield: 8 servings
Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook Time: 10 mins
Chill Time: 2 hrs 30 mins
Total Time: 2 hrs 45 mins
We wrote this recipe for the sweet/tart-ness of the average blackberry in grocers. If you happen to find exceptional blackberries like the Stehly Farms berries, cut back the sugar to taste. -Tough job testing multiple batches of ice cream, but that is how much we care about people using our recipes ;).
You can also just mash the blackberries instead of pureeing them (saves cleaning a blender 😉 ). The ice cream will just have bigger chunks of berries in it instead of being fairly smooth. And if you want a smoother ice cream with little-to-no-seeds, strain the balckberry puree before adding it into the ice cream mixture.
Makes about 1 quart.

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups Milk (375ml) we prefer whole milk
1 1/2 cups Sugar (300g)
4 large Egg Yolks
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract (5ml)
1 1/2 cups Heavy Whipping Cream (375ml)
2 cups pureed Blackberries * see head note (480ml) (approx. 4 - 6 oz baskets of berries)
1 Tablespoon fresh Lemon Juice (15ml)

Ice Cream Maker
Instructions
Combine the milk and sugar in a saucepan and gently warm to just less than scalding.
Whisk egg yolks and vanilla extract in a medium bowl. Slowly pour the warm milk into the eggs, whisking constantly. Next pour the egg/milk mix back into the saucepan.
Heat the milk/egg mix over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it coats the back of a spoon.
Combine the blackberry puree and lemon juice in a medium bowl. Cover with a strainer, and pour the milk/egg mixture into the blackberry mixture through the strainer to catch any chunky egg bits. Stir in the heavy cream.
Stir until cool over an ice bath. Cover and thoroughly chill in the refrigerator (at least a couple hours.)
Churn in your ice cream maker according to manufacturer's directions (usually about 15 minutes but times will vary depending on ice cream maker).

Last year we in Eastern Ontario Canada had a hot dry summer with a lot of smoke from forest fires! This year we couldn't ask for better weather, with decent amounts of rain and heat and sunshine. Every year brings a different roll of the dice and I wouldn't't have it any other way! Farming gives us hardships and pleasures! Makes us stronger and gives independence, wealth of intelligence and perseverance!!
It's the same here in Nova Scotia Canada. With all the farms here it's hard to find our provinces produce in stores. Most comes from USA of Mexico. An if you do find local it costs 4-5times as much. 😢😢I try to grow some vegetables my self.

Hey Meredith, so sorry you are not getting any rain we were just like that here in south east Iowa last year. We have been lucky this year corn is all tasseled out and has ears silking now. Have 2nd cut hay in and 3rd close. Hope you get some for your crops too

Ice cream we do for the 4th of July. Easy 2 liters Rootbeer 2 cans of sweet and condensed milk. You can do orange soda works great also 👌

I agree 100% about the tomatoes. I have a local farmer who grows the best. Best sanmich I had so far,, I didn't have any bacon, couldn't find any decent lettuce and I ran out of bread. No worries for the country boy. Sliced two maters, sprinkled a little salt and pepper. Nuff said. Was a great dietetic samich ! 🍅🍅🍅🍅

A tenth of an inch won't even settle the dust. If you're as dry as it looks you'll need two or three inches just to get started back.

Seems like you all run cattle thru the chute a lot. I've had beef cow herd for forty years and never ran cattle thru the chute unless somebody was sick. No vaccines and very few problems ever.
Meredith your videos have been going down hill the last 7 months or so, way to much of your face talking into the camera instead of what the guys were doing around the corral, Austin riding her horse and getting video of Lawrence picking out the new bull. Way to much in the kitchen talk instead of video out checking cows or hay crops. Just suggesting you get with it a bit more instead of what's easy, you need to make your videos interesting again.
