I’m Puerto Rican and what my father and some of my uncles have been able to do with some of these older Toyota’s like the AE86 and older Mazda’s with rotary engines is pretty amazing.
Before jumping into this video I was thinking "2j swapped 86" not a F22 swap lol.

I just got a shiver down my spine. That car is light as all hell. If I remember correctly the AE86 is only like 100 kg heavier than a smart car. Putting an F22 in an AE86 has to be terrifying!

Nope, the chasis is AE86 because the vin and chassis code don't work exactly the same way as in Japan.
If you look at all the info on the plate and not only the vin its clearly stated its an AE86 chassis.
I'ts a common misconception but ppl like to believe the car is an AE88 because the VIN are different in NA :P

If you're a chassis code nerd, then yeah. The ae88 and ae86 are literally the same body except for those numbers.
Well, if you want to get technical about it, the 86 was only meant for Japan, had 10-20 more HP stock, and was right hand drive. They are not the same car.
+no name I said same body. on an ae86 there is holes in the firewall for RHD and LHD applications. they are literally the same thing. the only thing that's different is the usdm bumpers which are a bit bigger and that's just bolt on stuff. Stop trying to act like you know the chassis. I've owned one for 5 years.
@@austinsheets3504 i agree with you, besides, it wouldn't make sense judging on toyota's way of naming the chassis code (same chassis, variant of motor (3A, 4A, 5A, etc.), and drivetrain), making it the same thing, reason why the AE85 (3A-U) is named different to them but the lower trim USDM or Australian models (4A-C) have AE86 as the chassis code

While no doubt a very fun car, I think its abit sacrilege to not build upon the 4AGE or a BEAMS swap, I think its the entire heart of the car next to the chassis.

VIN isn’t everything.. chassis code (which is which is how people identify JDM AE86s and AE85s) still says AE86, so it’s fair enough to call the USDM Corolla like this an AE86
