    I'm used to larger, corded routers czcams.com/users/postUgkxfQ5_mgwq6PcudJvAH25t-I4D-3cTPz4z so this was a different experience for me. Basically, this is an incredibly sweet machine, fits well in the hand, etc. It has slightly less power than I'm used to, but that's understandable. Maneuvering freehand takes some practice. These days, it's especially nice to be able to avoid power cords. This is above the level of a hobbyist but below a pro level.

    The bookholders are going for $3.95 on Esty so even if you find some customers at $3.50 and clear a
    dollar each that is $1 for 10 minutes of machine time $6 and hour does not seem like a doable return.
    I am not very good at math but even with free labor and very low lumber prices none of these seems like
    it could make any money even if you shipped a 100 at a time to a distributor (also bit costs!). The tablet
    holder same story (but probably slightly better margins), so when I watch people saying this could be
    a product I price it out on Esty and work backwards on what the gross margin would be and if it is less
    that $10 an hour I kill the project.

    Great job on the video! I'm gonna try the utensils then laser some graphics on them. I have a question, do you find it cheaper to do the masking CA glue trick than double sides tape? I get 36 yard of double sided tape for $8.99 so just wondering. Thank you!

    • @TwoMooseDesign

    • @TwoMooseDesign
      @TwoMooseDesign  Před rokem

      Hey Tom! For easel run the bowl bit as a 3/4 end mill. You’ll have to make a custom option. For speeds and feeds it’s hard to tell you without knowing what machine you have. Vectric is great! It’s pricey but has a lot more options than easel. Easel is fine for starting out I still use it for some stuff.

    Jess - I have an X50 Woodworker (just received it). Still a question of multiple toolpaths. Do I need to do them, or can i just run it altogether?

    • @TwoMooseDesign
      @TwoMooseDesign  Před rokem +2

      For the journeyman run the .75 bowl but at 100 speed .1 depth and 15 step down if you ramp then step down you can do like 40. Set your rpm’s around 14000 rpm’s or 3? I think on the makita. As for tool Paths most likely you’ll need to run multiple tool paths. In vectric you can merge toolpaths if you are using the same bit.

    Pro-tip.. use a down-cut bits to avoid tear-outs on your work. No one told me this when I got my first CNC and all of the bits that don't specify down-cut are ALL upcut bits and the upcut bits are horrible. They leave tear out everywhere. I bought a bunch with my first CNC and spent hours trying to figure out what I was doing wrong only to find out it was the type of bit that I was using. To me, this is a deceptive practice in the industry. Not specifying when a bit is up-cut and only specifying when it is a down cut is deceptive. Also, See-peel-ee not See-peel-aye. 😉

    I am always astonished at how well the tape and glue method is at holding down stock. You are running some serious feeds and speeds there with a relatively beefy end-mill, and that stock just stays down like it’s nobody’s business.
