I find using a coordinating fabric that is different from the lining is best for interior pockets. That way the pocket is easily found when you open the bag.

Misty, I've watched this twice and. cannot wait to make my own large zipper tote. I have made several quilted totes but did not know how to put a zipper in it. It has such a professional look and looks much more difficult then you MAKE IT L;OOK. LOL. I have spent the last 3 months overcoming a month long stay in the hospital with Covid. During those long, nights in ICU isolation, , especially when I was not certain I could survive without the machines helping me breathe, I spent a lot of time doing online Bible studies and watching MSQC tutorials and making "plans" for projects WHEN I WENT HOME. I even ordered fabric in anticipation of a positive outcome. I decided my state of mind and my faith in God would be vital to my battle. During my recovery, I am still enjoying my Bibles studies and my MSQC tutorials and shopping time. God bless you all. At the risk of sounding a bit "cheesy" as we say in the deep South. each of you 3 ladies have a special place in my heart.

Great tutorial. Thank you. For those who find it difficult finding internal pockets, if you cut one of the two pockets pieces in a contrasting fabric, sew the long seam and move the seam so when the side seams are finished a stripe of the contrasting fabric sits on the top of the pocket, it still matches but is highlighted.

Yes it is. The teens call it Cottagecore. There are vast majority of teenagers and 20 somethings who are getting into thrifting their clothes leaning towards florals. It all started during the early days of Covid. Now many are raiding grandmas’ closets and tailoring them to the contemporary style. I think it’s wonderful that this generation are seeing thrifting, repurposing and recycling as a lifestyle.

I didn't use batting, didn't quilt mine, because I didn't need sturdiness. My inner lining was satiny while the outer was a cute cotton print. I used the "outer fabric" for pockets on the inside. Very well done Misty. I too enjoy these smaller projects because my favorite things to make are pouches and totes. Love your fabric choices and I can't wait to try this. The thing I know I will change is on the pocket in the lining I will definitely make that different than the lining or I will never see it. LOL and I may put a zip pocket on the other side of the lining. It would be nice to have a pocket on the outside of the bag but I think it would spoil the look of the bag so I probably will not do that. Again you did a great job of showing us how to make this awesome bag.
