Why New Phones Don't Have Home Buttons
Vložit

- The average person spends more than 3 hours a day looking at their phone. Might not sound like a lot, but that’s more than a month and a half out of every year! With all that time spent staring at it, you might’ve noticed your new phone is missing a button or two?
It’s not your imagination - the home button is disappearing, and it might not be the only one! Smartphones have been shedding buttons for years, so it's no big surprise that companies like HTC and Samsung are trying to do without.

SUMMARY:
-The BlackBerry Electron was the first smartphone with full keyboard and dedicated call and hang up buttons, and arrow keys or a tiny trackball.
-Getting rid of the keyboard in iPhones in 2007 allowed the screen to more than double in size. It didn’t take long for the call and end-call buttons to disappear. Since menus weren't as important as they used to be, there wasn't as much of a need for a dedicated back or menu button either. The home button was the next to be removed.
-HTC’s U12 replaces its buttons with touch sensors, and the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 got rid of the power button completely. You can still change the settings so that the voice assistant button works as the power button.
-Without physical feedback, it can be hard to tell if you pushed a button right. Not to mention that there's just something satisfying about the click of a real-life button.
-Sony Experia was supposed to be a phone that could double as a portable gaming console. That might’ve been a good idea in theory, but very few game developers believed in Sony’s new product.
-Smart Scroll was a feature included in the Samsung Galaxy X 4 that allowed your phone to scroll up and down automatically.
-Air View was the feature that allowed Samsung users to preview notifications without having to touch the screen.
-Samsung’s Galaxy Beam and Beam 2 were the only phones that came with a built-in projector. Motorola tried something similar with one of their Moto Mod phone attachments.
-BlackBerry Storm was the company’s first touch screen phone, and they knew they needed something big to stand out from the crowd. The screen featured a system called SurePress that was designed to mimic the sound and feel of a physical keyboard.

You don’t notice how much something has evolved until you watch a video like this!
I still can't believe this video was posted in 2020. I bought my XiaoMi in 2019 and it's button less. I really prefer button less phones over phones with buttons. It does take up so much space! And why waste that tiny bit of strength pressing the buttons? It isn't satisfying at all. And the people who press the wrong buttons on button less phones must have huge fingers. We are actually evolving but people want to go backwards?

Just hold the off button
Hold power button + volume down button.. for a 5,6 seconds
Well im happy i have the home button but broken power button
But i can power it on like just turn the screen on with pressing the home button
You can't remove some external buttons (power/volume) because they are required to navigate to the "bios" of your phone.
If you want to FAST BOOT or SAFE BOOT a phone, you have to use the power button in a combo with the power buttons, which are later used for navigation in those menus. So, software crash must always have a way to be fixed "by hardware"
Yes, but smartphone manufacturers want that, because you'll have to replace it every time it happens. Planned obsolescence.

@@Daniel44x Nevermind, chill.

Miss that Home button, it was great!
I don't know about others but I surely love the haptic feedback my phone gives when I use the keyboard!!!!
The thing about the home and power buttons is the fact that if something goes wrong with the touch sensor and it only partially breaks It's usually the part at the bottom of the phone where the home button would be that becomes inoperative with a physical home button you can still use that phone and if something goes wrong with the whole phone the combination of the home button and power button to reboot your phone is a god-sent they are basically reassuring physical overrides if something digitally screwy happens to your phone so of course phone companies would want to get rid of them because they want you to have to replace your phone for any reason and since they refurbish and resell your phone on trade in it's doubly beneficial for them if you're forced to get rid of your phone with the least amount of damage

I've had an iPhone with a Home button since 2011. iPhone 4, 5s, 8. I was used to having a home button on my phone for years. But, at the beginning of this year, I got a new phone. The iPhone 12 mini. It's not the newest model but I like it. Plus, my hands are tiny so it's a perfect fit.
Also on the iPhone 7 7+ 8 8+ have "home buttons" it's a button but it's a hapic button becuase it's a button that gives u a hapic feedback when u press it becuase when u turn the phone off u can't press the button

In my opinion by getting rid of the power and volume buttons you're just making it harder for the consumer to be able to access their phone and do what they want with it without paid assistance

It's amazing how Sony was able to fit a game controller in there because if Sony made a way to play PsP games on that phone, then it would mean you would not need to buy both a phone and PsP from Sony.
If they want the screen bigger, why don't they just make it longer a bit xp
Yeah but it makes more sense for the whole screen to be on the front of the phone I like it that way I just got the new iPhone 11 and it’s great
