    The way I see it, Jan gassed himself out trying to get the submission in round 1, and by round 3, his strikes didn't have enough power to hurt Alex. So great job by Pereira for weathering the storm and mostly taking control of the fight. Looking forward to seeing him again maybe somewhere that doesn't affect his cardio so much.

    I think the elevation and the huge energy exertion trying to force a submission definitely ended up costing Jan, because Poatan noticed he was tired after that and kept ripping jabs to the body instead of headhunting, which is really smart, close fight, but definitely the right decision, those damn leg kicks tho 💀

    I rewatched that 3rd round many times. And even slow motion video breakdowns. Both Jan and Periera had 30 strikes all just pure stand up. Jan however had way more headstrikes. Even if Jan was tired he was still landing. So even in stand up Jan should have had the edge and that was before the takedown. That takedown at the end with Jan landing gnp should have at least sealed that round. And I watched this fight in silence without commentary and I thought this was what happened first time watching. Close striking numbers with Jan more headstrikes and Jan getting the takedown at the end. When I was reading people saying Alex was outstriking him in the 3rd, I was like wth are people even talking about. Then I listened to the commentary booth of UFC and Im like oh thats why. These guys just suck up to any Glory Kickboxer thinking just because the Glory Kickboxer is standing there eating shots and looking confident, hes winning the round just cuz the fights taking place standing? They even counted blocked/checked strikes as strikes for Alex. Horrid decision. Note to future kickboxers coming to UFC: just look confident standing, eat a bunch of head strikes and land some body jabs and leg kicks. You'll win the fight. The commentary will suck up to you as long as the fight stays standing. No matter who is landing, the commentary will automatically assume the kickboxer is winning a stand up battle. So glory kickboxers just need to have a good chin, take head punches, and just land some body strikes to win.

    • @ArnaudHetu92
      @ArnaudHetu92 Před 10 měsíci

      Exactly. Jan wasn't just ''avoiding'' the encounter by going on the ground, he litteraly came very close to actively submit Alex. Jan then managed to go through the whole third round on his feet, where a strong case can be made that he even outboxed Alex, at the very least that it was equal on that matter. Finally, I saw the last takedown as a sign coming from Jan that he was still in control of the situation, asserting dominance in order to cement a win.

    Ur smoking. You picked Pereira and it’s blinding you. Those combos landed by Jan in the 3rd round not being labeled medium and heavy, you wish. Pereira and Jan know who won that round. Jan’s boxing was better there plain and simple. Pereira had a couple good calf kicks and one good jab that round. Jan was putting together combos landed, and you’re just like not much damage Pereira’s moving and rolling. Come on bro. When you follow one good shot by another the strike feels heavier because you’re still thinking about the last one. Jan was tired but he was planted and he’s powerful. When he landed, it was not light by any measure.

    I thought Jan won to be honest. Utah was rough on the cardio. But im glad to see Perreira getting better in the grappling department. I like Perreira very much as everyone does. The way Jan gassed probably played against him in the eyes of the judges. But still if he was that gassed i would expect Perreira (a predator / hunter / finisher) to finish him. Jan kept Perreira honest. Jan had the most clear cut round (round 1). Finished on top. We know what Perreira’s striking can do damage wise but i didn’t see it in this fight. Not a robbery but i think way too many people are too confident in that Perreira performance seeing it as a clear win.

    Jan won in my opinion without a doubt. All of a sudden having an almost closed choke isnt a submission attempt. Kutateladze had 1 submission attempt against gamrot, and he only put the leg on the back of his head.

    Saying Pereira did more on the ground in the 3rd after the takedown by Jan because Pereira heeled Jan a few times in the thigh in quick succession is super sketchy. Considering the takedown was clearly the most notable bit of action in the 3rd it should have tipped the scale to Jan IMO. Regardless, good video as always.

    • @blaze556922
      @blaze556922 Před 10 měsíci +7

      That is exactly the problem. The takedown was no action at all. Making someone sit-down does no damage. People like you should never judge fights. You don't know what effective grappling is. A take down without damage is less than a jab

    Just watched your breakdown of Jan v Ankalaev again. How can you give Ank a 10-8 in the 5th but not give Jan a 10-8 in this fight in the 1st? You showed text of the criteria for a 10-8 in that video and it looks to me like it would fit here. Jan had Peirera in much more dangerous position than Ank had him too.

    • @pflges1117
      @pflges1117 Před 10 měsíci +8

      Ankalaev nearly TKO’d Jan on the ground. Jan’s submission attempts weren’t that close. Alex also was credited for a submission attempt on top of it. That was in no way a 10-8.

    • @KidCthulhu82
      @KidCthulhu82 Před 10 měsíci +1

      I just rewatched R5 and at no point did Ank ''nearly tko'' Jan. Most of his shots were hitting the gloves and those that got through didn't do anything significant. At one point Rogan says ''Ankalaev could finish him here if he continues this barrage'' However, Ank did not continue said barrage and said barrage was all blocked anyway. Jan came closer to finishing Alex with a sub than Ank did with tko. That said, I did forget about Aex's sub attempt at the beginning. But I still think a discussion can be had for a 10-8.

    Is this the scary 205 Pereira that was supposed to take Jan's head off? Body jabs and leg kicks only? I see a comment section relieved that Weasle judged it in Pereira's favour. Imo it's harder to land a takedown than to land that leg kick that ultimately "won" him the fight because Weasle decided it was partially a heavy strike.
    Neither guy's performance was impressive in the end, but Jan definitely edged it.

    • @madgavin7568
