This fight kind of reminded me of Leon Edwards vs Kamaru Usman, how the corner got into Pereira and he came out very aggressive as they wanted.

Great point. Izzy admitted after the fact that he couldn't do as much as he wanted to on the ground because the leg kicks deadened his nerves and he couldn't move them like he wanted to. Also probably had more to do with the reason he tripped backwards in the 5th.
That plus the constant pressure did izzy in. I was screaming all night for him to get away from the cage but fighting someone with almost the same reach and more power finally got him into the 5th
From what I saw last night, Izzy might have thrown more leg kicks but Pereira had better defense than Izzy to them. Pereira checked lots of Izzy's kicks throughout the fight and also landed more kicks on Izzys calf

pereira wasnt exhausted, he trained for 5 rds every week
People don't like him, so he's not gonna get the credit
the way pereira came out in the 5th after the pep talk from his corner, ref had to hold him back to wait for the round to start. intense!
I believe that Alex's methodical approach was key. He didn't waste energy with big bursts like Izzy did.
It was almost the same pace throughout the entire fight. Alex looked far more fresh in the 5th than Izzy did. That's why he's And NEW🇧🇷
Another thing to note, before Pereira caught him with the left hook he hit Izzy with a straight jab to the body. If you look at his breakdown with Glover after the Strickland fight he does the exact same sequence with Glover of a straight to the body before following up with the left hook. Masterful work.
Imagine if Pereira starts getting better at grappling and wrestling he would be unstoppable! The ground game is his only weakness, which a wrestler could take advantage of.

Just for fun, imagine Alex vs Jiri. That'd be a crazy couple minutes 🤯 😂
Jiri doesn't even enter the game, Alex in Glover's camp said that Jiri is very sloppy, his hands are unpredictable, but if he gets a guy with a similar or superior wingspan he erases easily, besides Jiri's LowKicks being predictable and Poatan's not, so much that not even Izzy can defend the whole time... and the Dutch style kickboxing that Alex uses is efficient against any Muay Thai fighter. Precisely because this style has a card up its sleeve, which is to hide its speed and power, and the hand strikes do not use the arm but the rotation of the hip raising power. And his kicks don't rotate the hip, so it's difficult to defend.

I felt that it was also that Pereira had the skill to cut off the cage and the balls to pressure Izzy and stand right in front of him despite all his feints and craft.
The others were mostly intimidated by Izzy’s deep bag - even Yoel, who Izzy was terrified of, was equally scared of him imo - and so they refused to pressure him and he was able to pick them off at distance. But by pressuring him Pereira took away a lot of Izzy’s bag - his movement based defense, his long straight punches, his kicks - and that is why his defense was reduced to hand fighting and ducking out the side which proved not to be sufficient.
Good for him - who dares wins. I feel a bit for Izzy though, this man really chased him to the UFC and took everything from him again, just brutal. He (Izzy) is the more skilled fighter imo but Alex just has his number it seems
Yoel was never afraid. Yoel was waiting. Waiting for him to make a move. Izzy just met his match on someone who was patient for the mistake.

Adesanya's submission grappling got exposed badly in this fight. Poatan is white belt level on the mat but Adesanya couldn't even show blue belt level in this fight despite clearly trying to use grappling to secure the win.

Good observation
This is what I said on reddit, if Izzy keeps him busy with grappling and trips, he doesn't have to trade with him, he clearly had the fight won all he had to do is keep him tied up, strikingly similar to the Usman vs Leon fight, if I'm Izzy I'm doing everything in my power to try and get that guy to the ground regardless of if it fails or succeeds because then your not getting backed up and smashed

@@joshuatalks6213 Khamzat his striking is a total joke compared to Pereira and Pereira has Texeira to train defensive grappling with, by the time Pereira and Khamzat fight, Khamzat wont stand a single chance.
Great fight.
Even greater stoppage. Izzy was 1 hook away from the shadow realm.
i agree with you for some reason a lot of people say early stoppage every time if fight ends before they guy is cold and that is unnesesary damage the ref is there to protect you if u cant protect urself anymore and izzy couldnt. he might say otherwise after the fight but for sure hes happy that the fight ended before he fell on his face
A hook would have been better than the worst case scenario, a massive knee to the face.
@@Skywalker_1337 I mean all he could do was try to move which he did. Early imo, this isn’t a game it’s a fight and if he’s fighting he’s still competing. You do actually have to knock him out or get that last hit imo. The stoppage left questions where there probably didn’t need to be any with one more shot, but who knows what could’ve happened.
@@uhok6712 not really. He was static and bobbing his head, one knee and he'd have been out cold. It was definitely a perfectly good stoppage.
@@uhok6712 how much money did you lose ? you fs wanted to see elsa get flatlined again w that oxygen mask. izzy was donzos he couldn’t defend himself fym it’s a fight ? that’s brain damage if the ref didn’t stop it lmao
finally after so many fails you nailed it. congrats !
This was a barn burner. Great fight & a 5 round chess match. Alex is the scariest 185 pounder to ever be in the octagon. That’s a fact. He’s huge, strong, with insane power & has zero fear. Him & Jiri represent the absolute apex of savage Pro fighters.
I want to compliment your prediction that Pereira would win, Weasel. Great job, and I loved the outcome of this fight. Considering Pereira had only four UFC fights under his belt it's impressive that he finished Adesanya. I relished every minute of this fight. Excellent breakdown you rock, my dude!
What an analysis. You’re the man Weasle
Good analysis
I can’t say anything other than. Congrats Alex
4:48 I think it was his right leg man, Alex checked a low kick before this and Izzy started stumbling and moving weird on it
Perennial nerve

@@thersten excuses
Weasle and Guru are conveniently leaving this part out of their breakdowns.
This was definitely the best case scenario for Rob and I couldn’t be more excited for the guy. This is his chance at getting the belt back and I really think he’s gonna make it happen!
Hopefully rob can use his wrestling and get the w, Alex is so big though he’s gonna be hard to keep down and I honestly don’t like his chances on the feet
How about the chin of rob when getting hit by pereira?can he handle that power?and th reach is advantage bro
@@ricbas9520 reach AND size. Alex walks around at heavy weight ffs. People keep forgetting this when they make it sound like a fight with Alex is just so easy for Robert lol
5 foot 11 guy vs 6 foot 5 monster who hits like mini ngannou

You have by far the most comprehensive assessments and detailed breakdowns on CZcams. I like your format better than Dan Hardy
Thank you Weasle for mentioning the clinch, everyone else didn't mention how key of a component it was and why izzy wasn't dominating.
He was though he was up 3-1
Maybe not domination but it definitely wasn’t close
@@chrisbrooks6965 bro you keep saying the same thing, he lost get over it
@@chrisbrooks6965 it was 3-1 far stretch. Looked 2-2 coming into 5
Pereira definitely won 2 and 4
@@chrisbrooks6965 so what? Pereira be like: "oh, Izzy was up 3 rounds? OK then, let me return the belt real quick!" MMA ain't point fighting. You either carry the win home or not. Izzy did not. Alex did. Doesn't matter what happened before.
Izzy is a fighter that I truly believe isn't good unless he has a massive height advantage. When he doesn't have it he can't just distance shoot you. His luckiest physical attribute is that he is very skinny for his height so he can make lower divisions. I don't see him being as good in a division where his height isn't an advantage
Indeed, he used and abused it hard, the moment you nullify it, you close all gaps and see the results.
height advantage? bro almost got knocked out by gastelum ! fighters are just scared to engage with him in direct combat. Pereira pushed him to the limits in the 5th round with pure pressure. if more fighters relied on that and not going for takedowns they would have a better chance
What? Pereira literally only won because he is 20 lbs heavier and has a massive power advantage
@@deadingu lol izzy only wins as he has like a 6 inch reach advantage and 4 inch height advantage in his fights
Izzy has beaten opponents as long as him, and was winning the majority of exchanges against Alex. So, no.
Adesanya gets such special treatment from the judges and the media. He was outlanded by 30+ punches going into the 5th round and yet he’s up 3-1 on the cards and the announcers are saying he’s dominating the fight. I thought the 1st and 4th rounds were incredibly close and am shocked everyone had it unanimously 3-1.
same
I had it 2-2 heading into the 5th
I thought he had the first until he got hurt. It was so close I gave it to Izzy. Definitely gave him the second. I don't remember the 4th being that close, I definitely had Izzy
@@charlesbroomfield3362 I had it the same as you, tbh but the more frustration is with the way the announcers are acting like it was a dominant performance. And the judges had it unanimous. It was a VERY close fight.
Adesanya very sharp and flashy, he feints a lot and has very precise striking, he always looks composed, makes people think he's doing more than he is
1st round how is it close? Alex nearly got knocked out
The fight was a masterpiece of martial arts!
Man, let's give credit to the ref, beautiful stoppage.
Pereira is a fearless man, just like the indigenous Brazilian Pataxó warriors. This guy will bring a lot of joy to the sport and will inspire many fighters.
I really enjoy seeing a fighter Going for it in the 5th when they are behind. Hate the fighters that coast to a LOSS
It’s really strange how in the second kickboxing fight Izzy rocks Alex and almost finishes him just like round 1 in MMA only for Alex to come back and knock him out…… spooky man
yep same story as always .. Izzy is better striker but Alex is more powerful. And difference in power is bigger than difference in skills ... Pereira can easily go up one division. Good job on both fights I`m more impressed by Adesanya though ..
@@r6201sk looool
@@r6201sk yea I bet you are
Its the 3rd time man now izzy fans can't say he got lucky.
@@r6201sk the skill gap is not that big tho
In the after fight interview he said that Alex damaged a nerve in his ankle and he lost mobility. As teddy atlas said, this was foreman and Ali all over again, but this time foreman won.
I thought this was a gimmick fight, bringing a dude from the past in a different profession just to have a storyline. Then it was one of the Embeddeds on UFC channel where the two of them were having a face off and Pereira said during it "Look at me" and I felt that. Pereira ain't a gimmick.
Obviously it’s not a gimmick idk why people are acting like Alex is just some random dude off the street he was literally a double champion in the best kickboxing organization in the world he’s skilled. People really refused to give him any credit it’s ridiculous
Very Accurate analysis
Congratz on Izzy for being great. Active and fighting the top guys every 3/4 months for a while already. He lost but he was winning the fight, even with the leg hurt. Alex recovers so fast though... scary as hell. Congratz to him on becoming champ. Let’s go. Rematch.
I dont think people talk about the fact alex condition izzys legs and body i mean he was kicking and kneeing all the time at those areas and then at the end went high
Izzy was up, but, apart from the top control time, he always looked to be in danger. We separate fighters by weight, but reach might be as impactful.
The reach wasn’t the problem in this fight, there’s a clear power and size difference…
@@TheWallethead izzy avoids powershots by his reach. By posting away. Take that reach and Whitaker probably takes his head offf with kick
@@TheWallethead Yes there was. Izzy likes getting to the back of the cage and start dodging stuff he has done that in all of his title defences. And the reason it always works is cuz he is so much taller and his opponents have significantly shorter reach.
And he tried it in this fight. And it worked sometimes but those punches of Alex were slowly finding the mark sharper and sharper. Untill it was over.
Even Cruz used to do that alot untilm he faced Chito who all of a sudden was the same size if not bigger then him cuz a guy like Uriah could never reach Cruz ducking down with a kick. But Chito has long legs and BOOM KO.
What happened to people saying "weight bully"?
People cut weights. Looks everyone's GOAT is no longer eligible.
Just saying 🤷 but it sounds like you are saying people should start cutting limbs along with weight.
@@ronror they looked like they didn’t belong in the same weight class in the octagon
I’m so happy for pereira his story is so sad, he deserves to be in these big fights with big money and now as he’s the champion if he rematches Izzy that’s going to be a big money fight and he’s going to have the ppv points as a champ.
what a crazy fight....a rematch is definitly needed.......its crazy the match would've ended if the first round was 5 seconds longer. can't wait to see more.
What makes you think it would end? He was just wobbled as the bell rung. A lot of what ifs from you Israel fans. Lol
What if the last fight had 10 more seconds than Alex would've lost in kickboxing. What if there was an extra 6 seconds in this fight? Alex would've lost. Lol
Alex had a 5 round game plan and he stuck to it diligently and it paid off. He concentrate don th ebody and legs for 4 rounds then turned it up in the 5th. He was setting up the knockout for 4 rounds. As proof of this concept, you just have to review the point where Izzy had him in the clench. Izzy's face was fully exposed and with Alex being a puncher, there had to be a damn nbear overwhelming urge to come over the top and take a chance, but he didn't, he stayed on th ebody and stayed true to the long game, wearing Izzy down. I don't think Alex or his team cared about who won what round, they had a 25 minute game plan that worked perfectly.
I noticed that too. He kept throwing these small left hooks and jabs to get Izzy comfortable with them, until he threw the power shot and rocked him.
Yessir, he had a crazy game plan
You’re seriously proposing that the game plan was for the 5th ?
Wrong
Game plan for 5 rounds??? He was down 3-1 on the official scorecards. Game plan wasn’t working obviously. He went out in the fifth and expended all the energy he had to get the win. That was the game plan.
probably one of Adesanya's best fights, it just shows how tough Alex Pereira is good, if Alex works his werstling, he'll keep his belt for a long time
There's an elementary difference in Izzy's game and Alex's game: Izzy is intelligent enough to build up momentum, pool up more points and stay defensively uncompromised; whilst Alex is a juggernaut that's reading all the time, computing all the movement throughout the rounds, always walking his opponents down and never over-extending.
Alex would always get the better of Israel as long as Izzy learn to win every round till the end and not stall at the end.
