Every single movie he's ever starred in needs to be in this list. He is THE greatest actor of his generation. He steals the show in every movie he's in!
Not in "Gangs of New York"; Daniel Day-Lewis overshadowed him, and he did the same with Paul Dano in "There Will Be Blood" and pretty much everyone in "Lincoln" and "My Left Foot"
DiCaprio is great, but he's certainly not in the same league as Daniel Day-Lewis
Ya Daniel day Lewis beats him even if his entire body were paralyzed except his left foot
***** Joaquin Phoenix, Edward Norton, and Christian Bale are all better than Leo
MortyBoy15 Edward Norton? HA! Now that gave me a good laugh. Joaquin Phoenix is too inconsistent, and has been struggling to pick up any good roles lately (though his performance in Her was astounding.) Christian Bale is great, and I'd definitely throw him in my top 5 actors of "Leo's generation." But Edward Norton - are you kidding me?! Talk about a guy who's so "wishy-washy" with his roles. I've yet to see one movie he's enjoyable in, and Birdman was terrible. The cinematography was amazing, but the overall movie was impossible to watch again.
***** Have you seen "Primal Fear" or "American History X"? He always has an intensity and dynamism in his line delivery, as well as having a huge energy, and his characters are very complex with a good and clear contrast between their good and bad sides. Not to mention that the situations are believable and relatable, and he gives me those images and moments that make him memorable.
And then we have "Fight Club" and "The Score", and I haven't seen "Birdman" yet, but he has received critical acclaim for that role
Based on your comments and informal language, I'm not sure if I can even take you seriously
Leo has been robbed of so many Oscars he deserves more than 1
Exactly he should have had at least three Oscars
Catch Me If You Can, The Departed, and The Aviator should have been wins
@@zachrizzo6525 Definitely!
@@zachrizzo6525 Inception and Shutter Island
Its not how it works. You have to best of that year. Hes been good never the best of that year except whats eating gilbert grape in 1993
I still can't believe Leo didn't win an Oscar for 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape?', that was probably the best emotional and physical performance I have ever seen.
RyleeSimmer yeeeeeeesssss
the basketball diaries was more emotional at times
I KNOW for him to play a character like that??! i can confirm that he did more than an amazing job cuz my cousin is autistic too, i don’t understand how he just did that like nothing
and that too when was just so young.
Great performance but Mickey Rourke in 'The Wrestler' was one of the most heartbreaking and realistic performances ever
Probably the best actor of all time
Orson Welles, Charles Laughton, Gary Oldman, DDL, Philip Seymour Hoffman are ahead of him in terms of raw talent and transformative ability.
But when it comes to charismatic actors, he probably is at the top.
@@DC-zi6se
No he's not. Leo is good actor but not great
@@Gma00001 He is great
B L U E
Not exactly
He is great but he's not the Best of all time
Screw the Oscars, there should be an award called "the DiCaprio" in the future.
Awarded to Actors in their older years who have never gotten an award.
Dignitas!
Aaron Davis update: he won an oscar
DiCaprio has finally won an Oscar! Yes!
ikr Oscar
🏆🍾🎉
He FINALLY did! Praise the Lord!
Cheers, bro! :)
HaHaHaHa! Yeah! Good one BTW.
If leo ain’t your dream men than we can’t be friends
Please give this song a listen. :)
You do know he’s dating young models on a roll though.
O
most deserving academy award winner tbh
Along with Gary Oldman and Johnny Depp
Excuse me. What is the meaning of "tbh"? I am not a native speaker.
@@sc5345 It is slang for "To be honest"
@@benanderson3791 Thanks
Yep
My favorite performance of his acting is in Shutter Island. Phenomenal. Can't guess the whole movie until the ending. Brilliant.
agree! best performance. sad that he never won any academy award or oscars
Jes, I agree :) the best
+TheWowwa the ending what do you mean? I still don't know what was real.
+TheWowwa By the ending? The ending is to let you decide what ending you want. There's no settle ending. If you mean that the entire movie was basically in his head, you're mistaken this to be the "real ending"
Félix Bernier Interpretation of art is subjective.
DiCaprio is the one actor you can´t make a top10 list of TOP Performances....seriously, can anyone name me a single movie with a bad performance? Leo is that great, becasue he always lives his characters. For me without a doubt the greatest actor we ever had!!
+redmanra1n Gatsby not so much as bad but wasn't great either. IMHO
Daniel Day Lewis is the greatest actor of all time
+Jake Daniel your an idiot
+Jake Daniel well i think dicaprio is on the same level as day lewis
Romeo & Juliet was horribly overacted, Titanic was his worst performance, his performances in "The Beach" and "J. Edgar" we're laughable, "Blood Diamond" wasn't bad but his accent and portrayal wasn't believable. Yeah, he's had plenty of lackluster performances, still a great actor though.
The fact that this is a great list, even without Wolf of Wallstreet, Django Unchained and The Revenant, is a testament of how great of an actor the man really is..
Gangs of New York as well.
Inception, Shutter Island, Once Upon a Time In Hollywood
Titanic????
Leo is the most talented actor in Hollywood in the past 20 years. His ability to master every role is just insane! The dude is a legend.
They didnt even mention wolf of wall street or gangs of new york?!?!
Shawn Kloter Tom Hanks ?
@@griff6413 Lacks intensity.
wolf of wall street wasnt out yet
Don't forget RDJ
@@jaakkoparikka6060 then your thinking level is too low.
Leo should have won at least 5 Oscars till now
@Mia Baker he shouldve won a thousand not just 5!
FIFA ikrrr
@@fifa9752 how he hasn’t started in 1000 films has he
Al Pacino
Give that man an Oscar.
He should have at least 2 or 3...best actor imo...and he should become one for wolf of wall street, was one of the best performances i have ever seen
Agreed.
They need to make a big giant Oscar for actors they have overlooked. Leo, Rockwell & Gary Oldman
The Wolf of Wallstreet!!
How he has not been given an Oscar yet just goes to show how shitty the awards are.
All Leo performance is perfecto :)
Tiffany Tedany yes, but I think the favourite the Gilbert Grape. Leo a fantastic actor and person!
Look at his filmography, hit after hit after hit. The greatest of all time.
That awkward moment when stumble on this video in 2015 and you realize that his best performances were still yet to come, Django, Gatsby, Wolf of Wall Street and THE REVENANT !!!!! Which is a true testament to this fine actor.
Have you seen the movie?
The Revenant will be out by the end of December. The trailer looks dope.
+Harvey Specter don't forget shutter island. he was amazing
The Revenant was amazing. So was he in it...
The Revenant was amazing. So was he in it...
The Oscar is worthless. Just think of some persons who have won one, like Nic Cage, Halle Berry, Jennifer Hudson, Marisa Tomei... And then think about some others who haven't never won one, like Peter O'Toole, Samuel L. Jackson, Johnny Depp, Edward Norton, Jean Reno, Harison Ford, Liam Neeson, Gary Oldman, and of course DiCaprio... Seriously, the Oscar has become a fucking joke.
Oh, wait, and i haven't even mentioned Guy Pearce, Joaquin Phoenix, Jake Gyllenhaal, Woody Harrelson and... Yeah, I think you got the point.
You understand that Oscars aren't a point system designed to measure how good someone is at acting, right? Nic Cage, Halle Berry, Jennifer Hudson, and Marisa Tomei won because they had the single best performance of a given year. Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, Johnny Depp, etc. never won because they never had the single best performance of a given year. That doesn't mean that they're worse actors. People like you need to understand that Oscars are all about the one performance, and that the rest of a person's filmography doesn't mean shit.
WreckNRepeat I understand the system, it's not to complicated. But let my give you an example: 1993: The Oscar for best actor went to Al Pacino, who's a great actor, no doubt, but his performance in Scent of the Woman was... yeah good, but not great. He did not win an Oscar for any other of his great rolls like Scarface or the Godfather, wich defenetly deserved one. In that year, Leonardo DiCaprio played a mentally unhealthy kid in What's eating Gilbert Grape, wich was one of the best roles i've ever seen him in, wich is really saying something, but just got nominated for whatever reason.
Walter Kowalski Maybe Pacino's performance didn't have to be great. If there were no great performances that year, then it's possible that a so-so performance could win. Likewise, there may have been some other exceptional performances the years that he did Scarface and the Godfather. And no, he wasn't competing with DiCaprio that year. What's Eating Gilbert Grape didn't come out until the following year.
I'm not saying that the Academy gets it right every single time; it obviously doesn't. But the idea that actors who are generally bad should never win an Oscar (and that actors who are generally good should always win an Oscar) shows a complete lack of understanding of how Oscars are given.
People judge Nic Cage too much.
Wolf of Wall Street, The Revenant, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood... This list needs to be updated!
i noticed people that I use to consider DiCaprio haters are forced to either becoming fans or having to admit he's a good actor. He's just that good. Hell, I remember the beach and I thought that got way too much shit on it, I loved that movie. In my opinion I haven't seen him in a role where he didn't do great. Another sleeper is body of lies with Russell Crowe.
What about inception and shutter island?
The performances definitely didn't hurt the movies
What about all other Movies?? Leo doesn´t exest in bad :DD!
But his performance was still good. :D
you're absolutely right. his performance is amazing on that one!!!
What had happened was...this came out in 2012 so alot of those movies weren't made yet i dont believe
I think this list should be updated to include films such as Gangs of New York, Inception, Django Unchained and The Wolf of Wall Street
And The Great Gatsby
Wolf of Wall Street was great.
Shutter island and revolutionary road aswell
and critters 3
***** and body of lies ...DiCaprio doing good in this film
Hollywood definitely has something against Leo, because holy crap... He is freaking good in everything...
Leonardo is what you call an “icon”
Why is Jack Dawson #9? Why?
Is really a lack of respect that this guy doesnt have a oscar, he has so brillant perfomances, we love your acting Leo
No Inception, Revolutionary Road, Django Unchained, Shutter Island, Great Gatsby, NOT EVEN WOLF OF WALL STREET!!!!
His Great Gatsby role is a joke ... a buffoonish joke.
+Marc James so quick to criticize maybe if you look at the date it was posted you would know that most of the movies you named hadn't even come out yet
+Nico Rolon But Inception :(
+Marc James django wasn´t a main role...pretty sure thats why they excluded the movie
Wolf of Wall Street came out in 2013, this video was made in 2012
Blood Diamonds is hands down one of the greatest films ever made.
Best Actor of this generation by far.
just watched What's Eating Gilbert Grape and I cant believe his role as Arnie. he really committed to that role with his detailed behaviors and everything. wow.
Where did you watch it?
This guy is indisputably the greatest actor currently active
@@12luri Nah, Denzel Washington is better
Blood Diamond has to be his most underrated role, that whole movie is just great, not just entertaining but a deep movie with a great message
Best actor of our generation 💙
Wait, he's embarrassed by his role in Titanic? it's the 3rd highest selling movie of all time (was #1 before star wars and avatar) and made him a household name. Plus it's an amazing movie.
+Zelda Williamson I love Titanic but I have to admit his performance was average at best and the script sucks.
Well people praise his performance, it helped his career and was very successful, so the average person would be proud. That's all I'm saying.
He is not embarrassed by the role but by is acting .. I completely disagree btw
+Zelda Williamson Well every good actor/actress shouldn't "settle"- he should be improving with each role so it makes sense he doesn't find Titanic as his best performance.
Inr so many girls have fallen inlove with his role as jack dawson, legit hes my boyfriend goals, he made jack dawson my ideal bf x 😄😄😄
His Arnie in What's Eating Gilbert Grape is the most underrated performance in film history in my humble opinion. But I'd love for anyone to challenge my assertion and / or prove me wrong.
I had been seeing that movie on Netflix for the longest time and I finally watched it about a week ago. I was absolutely blown away with his acting in the movie. Made me cry too.
@LetReason: I have to agree, his performance was stellar in that movie. Kinda reminded me of Billy Bob Thornton in "Sling Blade".
its underrated because it did not win an oscar, lost to the fugitive LMAO
I thought The Fugitive was a pretty good movie.
because you don't have any aesthetic sense his performance seems like underrated to you...!!!
Shutter island and the revenant are my favs, but you can't go wrong with any Leo film, he's amazing!!
Leonardo DiCaprio has come a long way since his child hood days. He has a great list of roles to his credit and it was great to finally see him win an Academy Award for his performance in "The Revanent" (2015).
Leo has made too many good performances to make just a Top 10 list...
django unchained is the only DiCaprio movie i dont like. :D
法国好
wolf of wall street
... was about to write the same!
I seen one of his movie it was fine until he almost got killed in the departed when i was watchin it and i was crying no leo why did you have to die i found my love to leonardo it make me feel like i was the only one that i love leonardo and my happy ending is my happy place
he better get something for wolf of wall street, that movie was absolutely awesome.
He got a Golden Globe!
Gilbert Grape performance is clearly his best performance. It was and still utterly amazing.
Titanic
Why is Jack Dawson #9? Why?
Where’s Dom Cobb from Inception & Hugh Glass from the Revenant?
LEONARDO DICAPRIO WAS SUPERBLY OUTSTANDING IN THE DEPARTED.
What we should add now:
1.Gangs of New York
2.Django Unchained
3.The Wolf of Wall Street
4.Body of Lies
5.Shutter Island
6.Inception
7.The great Gatsby
Exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JUST GIVE THIS MAN AN OSCAR FOR GOD'S SAKE!
He's got one now! And it's his FIRST EVER one, too!
The fact that he can act so well in general let alone portray so many characters so well and realistically shows how amazing Leo is ❤️
I have only seen Inception and Catch Me if You Can, but both of those movies are masterpieces in my eyes.
Wolf of Wall Street has earned the #1 spot.
nope
aviator. if you know anything about Howard Hughes, he really nailed the Hughes. one of the greatest portrayals EVER!
Honestly I couldn't finish that movie. I adore Leo but that movie was so boring. I got as far as the film being released and he didn't like it but thats it.
***** Well you can't fault a movie without finishing it nor can you criticize it!
***** Thank you
Definitely!
Why hasn't this guy won at least one Oscar?
The fact that Django Calvin Candy, Shudder Island, Inception ain't on this list tells you how good this guy truly has been
basketball diaries is like so good fuck bro this guy is a good ass actor
the departed & shutter island
Shutter island was inanely good acting
Romeo + Juliet performance better than Titanic's? LOL okay.
absolutely. titanic is overrated
+Jon Snow He was terrible in Titanic, I agree, but in R+J I thought he made the perfect Romeo, totally looked the part. Don't you think?
+Jon Snow He was way better in Romeo and Juliet. His performance in Titanic is terrible.
+Calvin Candie he is not terrible in Titanic, it is kind of an easy character to play but he is perfect as Jack. and he is absolutely perfect as Romeo as well
elin rosenqvist he was cheesy and unconvincing in Titanic. I don't blame him I think he had a shitty script to work with but the point remains that he was way better in Romeo and Juliet.
Every single Leo's movie is just awesome. What about Shutter Island? Revolutionary Road? Inception? He's brilliant. He should have won dozens of Oscars 👏
when she said " theres more than i pretty face " i was like:
" wait!?! HOW COULD HE BE MORE PERFECT THAN HE ALREADY IS !!!!!"
He should win as oscar for most nomination.
Where’s Dom Cobb from Inception & Hugh Glass from the Revenant?
this man has it all. Comedy in WOWS, action in blood diamond, thriller in inception/shutter island, Romance in Titanic/R&J, Drama in Gatsby and many more and also villain in Django! Super talented.
The dude brad Pitt is more talented,..He's done Dramas, thrillers, Horrors, Fantasy, actions, adventures...but also got no Oscar, war, sports movie, romance etc..
Atheist603 Brad Pitt can't hold a candle to Leonardo DiCaprio
MY favorite own by far is “ The Basketball Diaries”. It made me think of life changing experiences and what you caused always comes with an effect
I laughed the last part of the video when he shouted,"Hey Lady shut up!!!!" 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Oh yeah, it was the basketball diaries, wasn't it
@@shatakshisharma5240 it is

My favorite was What's Eating Gilbert Grape
Same
mine too
Watched yesterday. Mine too
Oh my god give him a fucking oscar already. Holy shit.
^^
How did Shutter Island not make the list? The ending of that moving is so incredibly gut wrenching and shocking
Leo's not embarrassed by his performance in Titanic! He's proud of it!
I knew Arnie was going to be number one. Taking that role was a huge risk, because it very easily could have gone wrong. If it was played down, people would say he wasn't putting any effort into it; if it was played up, they would have said it was offensive. He was absolutely perfect, and Idk if anyone else could have don't that role justice.
Finally he won an Oscar. He truly deserves it.
My favourite actor of all times. Its ridicilous that he didnt get an Oscar earlier. Jack Dawson in Titanic is my favourite role he has ever played. Absolutely perfect in any way.
Updated list should include:
Hugh Glass - The Revenant ( *Won him his Oscar* )
Jordan Belfort - The Wolf of Wall Street
Rick Dalton - Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
Calvin J. Candie - Django Unchained
I'm totally facinated of him acting as Arnie. It's so convincing I can't get it.
Love how What's Eating Gilbert Grape was number 1.. He did a outstanding job.
he was amazing ' gangs of new york '.
Missing this boy’s life
Blood Diamond Acting was brilliant
How the fuck does this guy not have an oscar yet?
He has a fear of public speaking so he refuses to be nominated. Incredible actor though.
Karl Snow Is that true?
Yes way!
You'd be surprised by how many actors are shy in real life.
Agreed, but we know he deserves one.
He got a standing applause at the Django premiere.
The Academy always screws up. They acknowledge their mistake like years later and end up giving them an oscar for a performance not even worthy, eg (The Great) Al Pachino getting an award for Scent of a Woman, he deserved oscars before this, Also Scorsese who only received one award, and peter o'toole in which they gave the honorary in acknowledgement of their mistakes the past 50 years. I bet they will give Leo an award years later to compensate him for their mistake.
Basketball diaries #2
And you got the #1 correct!!
After "The Wolf of Wall Street", "Django Unchained", "Revenant" and "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" I think it's worth updating this list.
They should remake this list so they can include Django, Wolf of Wall Street, and Revenant. Here is how it should look now
#1.The Revenant
#2.The Aviator
#3.The Wolf of Wall Street
#4.What's eating Gilbert Grape
#5.Django Unchained
#6.Blood Diamond
#7.The Departed
#8.Shutter Island
#9.Revolutionary Road
#10.Catch me if you can
And gatsby
Duka Honerable mention maybe.
Well, monsieur candie, you had my curiosity.......now you have my attention.
Rossi the Bossi lol thanks
RaptorWolf81 Yah he was amazing in that
His performance in What 's Eating Gilbert Grape was very great . Plus the ending was sad .
And least we forget Basketball Diaries, that was a powerful, gut wrenching performance in the beginning of his career , showing that he was going on to Great Things
The shutter Island 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥,so underrated
gifted actor, shines every time
Wait, he's embarrassed by The Titanic but not Romeo and Juliet? LOL
Laughing at a Shakespeare masterpiece, you must be a kiddie born in the 90s or later
He's embarrassed about it because of the attention he got and didn't want to be type cast as a heart throb and just get roles in the romantic category hence why he has always done dark roles after that.
NorsiXa have you seen the movie? It's a piece of shit
I'm from a older generation, for us it's one of the best pieces made, you won't understand as it doesn't have drugs, whores, fancy cars, bling bling and blood in it. You don't know real art when you see it in front of you.
NorsiXa Sorry, hut I think you are confused. Romeo + Juliet uses Shakespeare's original dialogue, but it is set in modern times. There are guns and cars, and there's a gun that literally has sword written on it. This is not a masterful production, like the one from the 60s.
man he's just a great actor, some movies like The Departed I actually couldn't not think of Titanic so it was hard for me to buy it cuz I kept coming back to character from a movie I was raised with, but in movies like what's eating gilbert grape I can't even remember his past performances he just seems completely different
edit: wow i didn't even know that that would be his #1 performance in the video haha
What a beast career this man has had. Ability and versatility are understatements.
My Opinion...
1. Jordan Belfort, The Wolf Of Wall Street
2. Howard Hughes, The Aviator
3. William Costigan Jr, The Departed
4. Arnie Grape, Whats Eating Gilbert Grape
5. Calvin Candie, Django Unchained
CATCH ME IF YOU CAN.
Blood Diamond destroys all of his other accents
Good list.
the wolf of wall street is definitely my favorite but the departed is not far behind
Yes! His performances in The Basketball Diaries and What's Eating Gilbert Grape were unbelievable definitely deserved to be in the top three. He's an unbelievable actor all around but those were especially great considering how young he was. The Basketball Diaries is my favorite movie of all time that's based on addiction.
Excelente Top
The Wolf of Wall Street!! That's my favorite DiCaprio performance!
it came out after this list. but yes it definitely deserves a spot
The movie is of 2013 and the video of 2012
Well I don't give a shit! They asked what my favorite Leonardo DiCaprio role was and I told them!
just give him an oscar already!!!!!!!! he deserves it!!!!
Oh I loooove all of his movies... and I love the person even more.
You can’t make a top 10 performances of him
He’s got so much more to offer
One of the top 10 actors ever! He can do just about anything! He's been snubbed so much, but I'm sure he'll get the Oscar someday. He's great in just about everything, but I think my favorite character is still Jack Dawson. Loved him in Titanic!
Just saw The Wolf of Wall Street...I must rank it in my Top 10, Leo is fucking PHENOMENAL!!
Agreed. *hits chest and sings melody*
The Wolf of Wall Street and Once Upon a time in Hollywood are now his best performances
In my opinion the Aviator and what's eating Gilbert Grape remain his best performances
Followed by The Revenant and The Departed
He is awesome actor and all of his performances are brilliant but I just love Titanic and Titanic.
i think everyone just got used to how good he is... people should appreciate how great of an actor he is!! but you know what? it's better for people to wonder why you don't have an oscar, than why you have one.
Agree ;)
Extremely well put. I'm gonna use that a lot.
I don't understand why people are up in arms over the fact that he hasn't won an oscar yet. Has he been deserving ? Possibly, but he's now only been nominated 4 times. O'Toole was nominated 8 times and never won. Pacino 6 times before winning. Olivier had ten nominations and one win. So , he still has plenty of time. Eventually he'll win
gregg mikulla you know what? at least these actors were nominated so many times!! there are so many roles that deserved a nomination, but he didn't get it. maybe because he is so amazing, that people are so shocked at the fact that others are getting recognized while he deserves it more!! and i COMPLETELY agree with you, these actors did not get what they deserved, but these are in the past.. people are afraid that history is just repeating itself.
Absolutely top-notch Actor. One of my all-time favourites. He was superb in Shutter Island and Inception, too.
There are a lot of DiCaprio performances that are left out. I literally watched him act since his teenage years
Where’s Dom Cobb from Inception & Hugh Glass from the Revenant?
Y'all must do an updated version of this list sense more iconic performances of him came after
Just watched "whats eating Gilbert Grape" By far my favorite of his performances. He is so convincing, i reccomend ut to everybody. It had me crying the hole time.
This list needs to be updated with The Wolf of Wall street and The Revenant.
