      Jack Van Kleeck well it's arguable because everyone enjoys different genre. And also characters in some roles are appreciated more than others. But I think he's good at what he does, and is one of the top actors.

      Well, it _might be_ "one of the best"*****, because Christian Bale was an adult when he acted in that movie, and it was essentially a "Brave New World" meets "The Matrix" conglomeration. However, it did still contain the following:
      John Preston: _"Then I'm sorry."_
      Errol Partridge: _"No, you're not. You don't even know the meaning. It's just a... vestigial word for a feeling you've never felt."_
      John Preston: _"Then you know, what I'm going to do now?"_

    Bale's performance in American Psycho was amazing, underrated and Oscar worthy and at times really funny. In most movies like this the killer show's no reguard or guilt for the things he does or shows the worry that he or she is becoming more bloody thirsty and more mentally unstable and trys to control their action's and you get that he's just an unwell man fighting for control of his broken mind and to stop hurting people (even the ones he really cares about) and Bale does this perfectly and IMO its what makes this movie even greater, its not a slasher flick and its not chase, kill, repeat... its so much more. The end twist is brilliantly too.

    • @akrishtsrivastava
      @akrishtsrivastava Před 4 lety

      And what makes his character and the movie even more interesting, entertaining and quite funny is his craziness and obsession for petty little things such as the name card thing or his irritation with his girlfriend, his jealousy from Paul Allen, narrating the critique of a particular piece of music or the whole album or food...just realised it was so legendary that I could keep on enlisting the wide exploration of his character in the film.

      Well, it's a conspiracy theory suggesting that politics were involved at 2002 Oscar nominations and that's why both winners were afro-Americans in order to unify the country under such tough conditions. Think about Denzel Washington's performance: How many times you've seen a stereotype of a corrupted cop winning an Oscar against strong candidates like Russell Crowe's brilliant performance on "A beautiful mind"?

      I wouldn't call it brilliant or great, but it was an interesting movie. IT was a little weird, many things were stupid (hollywood action scenes, well it's hollywood, so what can we expect), but it was made well enough. It was saved majorly by the performances of Bale and Bean. And you're right, that there were many philosophical questions, that were interesting, what gave the movie a certain depth, that not all action movies have... All in all it was definitely interesting...

      Kristina Georgieva The Dark Knight Trilogy (if that's what you mean by 'Batman') IS a great movie because of the same reasons you said about Equilibrium; it has so much philosophical meanings, themes, commentary and complex stories as well as characters.
      I loved Equilibrium for what it brought to the table as well, really intriguing ideas, but The Dark Knight brought them and executed them the right ways. I have no idea how you can like one and hate (?) the other.

    • @jamon213
      @jamon213 Před 10 lety +1

      The batman trilogy had so much more philosophical and deep things going on there. It was written by Nolan so you know a lot will be going on beneath the surface and it's going to tackle some philosophical themes. I wouldn't say that much was going on in equilibrium at all, it was an interesting concept for a sci-fi movie (although a bit of a 1984 rip off..in fact an extreme rip off of 1984..which was then twisted and ripped off to create V for vendetta which was then ripped off to make equilibrium...it's ideas weren't exactly fresh) that could've been a lot better but they wanted an action hero movie so it lost a lot of it's potential.

    My Top 10 Christian Bale Performances:
    10. John Preston (Equilibrium)
    9. Melvin Purvis (Public Enemies)
    8. Jim Davis (Harsh Times)
    7. Alfred Borden (The Prestige)
    6. Dieter Dengler (Rescue Dawn)
    5. Dan Evans (3:10 to Yuma)
    4. Trevor Reznik (The Machinist)
    3. Patrick Bateman (American Psycho)
    2. Dicky Eckland (The Fighter)
    1. Batman/Bruce Wayne (The Dark Knight Trilogy)
    I think Bruce Wayne/Batman is number 1, because he gave more depth to, what some people see as just a comic book/superhero character.
    Bateman was really good, it's third, as I felt Dicky was a little more intriguing as well as a little more demanding due to the performance Bale gave with weight loss, getting mannerisms and accent to pull off being someone that is real, but I think he might've subtly took, what he did in American Psycho in terms of darkness and did that again in The Dark Knight Trilogy, and we got to see that expanded three more times.
    We also see Bruce Wayne deal with trying to have a normal life by day, and still balance out being Batman at night. We see the struggle Wayne goes through, and see how it effects those around him. I think he also makes Wayne/Batman a more interesting character as a result of this. He gives more depth to the character than we’ve seen before and gives it his all.
