Dans cette seconde partie, la fin de la construction de la boite ainsi que sa décoration est expliquée.
La réalisation du couvercle est une étape qui nécessite plus d’attention. La méthode ici exposée, permet de le fabriquer sans risquer d’abîmer la partie inférieure.
Je n’ai, bien sûr, aucune certitude de l’historicité de ce procédé. C’est ce que j’ai trouvé de plus pratique à force de tester différentes façons de faire.
La décoration peut se faire de manière plus simple que ce que j’ai filmé : Juste incisé et grainer la fleur du cuir donne déjà un très beau rendu. Je ne suis pas du tout une professionnelle de la gravure et de la dorure, avec un peu d’entraînement ce n’est pas si difficile, essayez :) !
Erratum sur cette deuxième partie:
- La jonction de la couche finale est mal placée : Il est plus correct de la prévoir au ras d’une arête, de cette façon le décor incisé cachera mieux le raccord.

In this second part, the end of the construction of the box as well as its decoration are explained. Making the lid is a step that requires more attention. The method outlined here allows it to be done without risking damaging the lower part.
I have, of course, no certainty about the historicity of this method. This is the most practical process I have found as I experimented with different alternatives.
The decoration can be done in a simpler way than what I filmed: Simply incising and graining the leather already gives a very nice result. I'm not an engraving and gilding professional at all, with a little practice it's not that difficult, give it a try ! :)
Erratum on this second part:
- The junction of the final layer is incorrectly placed: It is more correct to provide it flush with an edge. This way the incised decoration will hide the joint better.

I've seen boxes done before but I have never seen anything so elaborate in my life and that plastic stuff that you stuck into water and then put boiling water in it is that glue and if so where do you get that I've never seen anything like it what amazing work it's stunning
THANKS ! Dry pork gelatin for cakes looks like plastic. Dissolved in water, it becomes a very strong glue which impregnates leather, it's quite stable and rather stiff!
