[Spoilers for the first 4 episodes ahead]
I believe so too. With every episode, his relevance increases. For the first three, the amount of times he showed up in the horizon watching the events that transpired increased with every episode, and in the most recent episode at the time of me writing this (Episode 4), he outright comments on the events saying "If I could interfere, I would", Dr. Strange outright notices his presence and in the end he makes himself visible and speaks to Strange Supreme about how he can't undo the damage he did to the entire universe. By this trend, his relevance and "interfereing" will increase episode per episode, and, I mean, if you look at some of the clips in this trailer you can see that some of the characters from seperate Episodes are speaking to each other -- for example Captain Carter from Episode 1 and Strange Supreme from Episode 4 at 1:12. What I'm assuming is that everything comes together in the end when there's some really big threat they all need to fight and the Watcher puts them all in one universe or something. idk.

Now, at 01:13, we can see Darker Strange interacts with Captain Carter, so if he actually makes it out of his prison, where I can imagine he spent an eternity regretting his actions that led to the collapse of his universe, and get somehow thrown in another timeline or universe, he's gonna be SO humbled by his past actions and grateful to see life again that he's gonna become one of the greatest protectors of all timelines.
I think a bunch of them are gonna end up in episode 3's world and stand in for the avengers in the first movie

The episodes get better as they go along (I don’t know if episode 1 or 2 is better though)
that one was my least favourite, but im not a fan of Strange so
That episode had some of the best writing from the entire MCU, it was tragic, heartbreaking and didn't have a fairytale happy ending, and it also did a great job at making me care, I haven't even seen doctor strange and I still absolutely loved that episode and it's something I'm definitely gonna rewatch from time to time

Honestly, this was my favourite Marvel Disney plus series. The fact that it had some dark moments and almost had a darker tone makes it incredibly amazing. And the ending just had me asking so many questions like, are we gonna see these characters in live action? Will they come back in multiverse of madness? This is by far my favorite marvel series and my favourite episodes were episode 4,8,9,2,6 and 5. Hopefully we get a season 2 down the line

Yes you’re correct. The last episode is about Ultron winning in the Age of Ultron sequence. He finds out about the Infinity Stones and collects them all. He then becomes self-aware of the Watcher and the Multiverse and wants to conquer all the timelines.

That's what I'm confused about. Surely the multiverse will only be allowed to exist following the dissolution of the TVA, presumably after the events of the Loki season finale? In Loki, all the universes were condensed into one single timeline, right? If the TVA catches someone as soon as they branch off, how can the multiverse exist?
In the comics, the TVA governs the many different realities of the multiverse. In the MCU, so far the TVA governs one sacred timeline. The Loki finale is going to reconcile this.
Episode 4 set the bar high for the rest of the season. That ending 😢

Not many studios can make shows like this. To make a What If series there should be enough raw materials beforehand and most of the target audience should already know how the original plot goes in each episode. MCU is perfect for this especially with the amount and diversity of characters it has, not to mention its existence also makes sense with respect to the finale of Loki.

Imagine if Marvel trolled us by having a "What if" episode based entirely around the events of "The Incredible Hulk", with the only change being that it's Mark Ruffalo playing Hulk instead of Edward Norton.
And then Ruffalo gave away the plot again.
