I hate saying, someone deserves to be scammed, but if you enter one of these ran by BYB knowing the shady stuff they’ve done in the past you kinda had it coming
It's real easy to rig the ball spin. All you have to do is keep the balls with the desired numbers out of the spinner, then reach in with a ball already in your hand, act like you're digging around, then pull it right back out.
This is likely a tactic that has been used by backyard many times. I’m just waiting for a disgruntled employee to spill the beans on the shady shit they have done.

I don't get it... how would you reach in with the ball already in your hand lol.. so you'd awkwardly open the ball crate with your opposite hand then reach in with a closed fist and never once make a grabbing motion... people would obviously see that your fist was closed for 15 seconds straight lol

Funny that Whatnot just released updated rules and has small streamers avoiding duck races, but Backdoor can do it all day.
Are you new? There has been "no" duck races for over a year since before I started on the app then. I don't know if you got the email because it went to sellers, but it says something along the lines of "a reminder that duck races aren't allowed". yeah no whatnot hasn't cracked down on them at all, and never will. Whatnot wants people to do as they please on the app to get them more money, but given states have different gambling regulations, they have to say this is all not allowed. The new rule was not allowing a possible prize with a purchase, as in no bounty for a certain card pulled, no buyer giveaway, so basically no paying extra for a shot at something aka gambling. No streamer to my knowledge has been banned or even given a warning for their buyer giveaways that aren't through the app allowing anybody to enter, or bounties. I don't like backyard, but whatnot isn't giving them special treatment with the rules, they are doing the same for everyone
@@rileyesmay far from new. I’ve been in many a stream where the sellers have been told by whatnot reps that they cannot do duck races. The point is…they’re in cahoots with backyard and I think at this point, it’s kinda hard to deny that.
@JKsCardShack I'm literally watching a streamer right now doing a buyer giveaway not using the whatnot buyer giveaway, and whatnot hasn't told them no. I'm not sure what streams you're in, if the sellers are lying to you about that because people are mad they have changed their stream, and they want to play by the rules(I've seen a bunch of streamers trying to play by the new "rules") or if they are getting reported by people watching, but either way there's plenty of people still "breaking the rules". Hell I did my own stream where I gave a buyer a free team and I haven't gotten my warning from whatnot lol. Whatnot is in cahoots with half the streamers on the app, I mean as is plenty are going to fanatics or facebook. It's not just a backyard problem like you make it sound
@@rileyesmay never said it was just backyard. And of course I know rules are broken left and right. There’s no monitoring of what goes on in the streams. The only way to get warned or suspended is if someone snitches on you.
The amount of seller fees that whatnot receives from BYB and other breakers is what keeps whatnot in business. They will never stop or shut down a big breaker like that regardless of how obvious anything is

Prize based auctions are not supposed to be allowed on Whatnot yet Backyard still does it especially with these mystery packs
A lot of streamers have been. Just like how duck races have been not allowed for over a year since I first started on the app, but yet they have been happening. Whatnot just has to have those rules so the app isn't considered gambling, because states have gambling laws that aren't very friendly, but they don't want to loose business from people not being allowed to do what they want, so they aren't enforcing the rules
Mystery packs are allowed you just can't have bonus prize games

Keep bringing this stuff to the forefront of attention. WhatNot is a place for scammers to make a living because they cannot create authentic businesses and survive. Unfortunately it makes legit sellers get labeled that by proxy. Any time a "mystery" product is created and distributed by the same entity that is selling them it's a scam.
Of course it’s almost all rigged. These companies know damn well great hits opened online for all to see makes the product more appealing to other buyers.
Even if they're caught red handed these people will still give these crooks their money.
I’ve watched many of the mystery pack breaks that backyard runs and have always found it odd that multiple “golden tickets” seem to be left till the end. It’s made me think they keep certain numbers out until the end so they can receive higher bids?? I’ve even messaged whatnot on the shady behavior and received an email back saying they will investigate but nothing has came from it.
There will never be anything done because a breaker like BYB is paying a fortune in selling fees to whatnot.
For sure. If you see someone doing that with repacks, you know it's scammy. No reason not to let the buyer pick the number or use an actual randomizer (they're free on the internet, FFS).

Not all breaker or investors are crooks. Some show dealers are. Some store owners are. Some internet sellers are and yes some collectors are. This hobby changed forever in the mid '90s when cards started to be numbered. Then parallels and auto's and relics. There was a time when collectors bought a box hoping to find some good rookie cards! I put back one full box of '86-7 Fleer Basketball from a case I bought in '87. Was selling them for about $20 ea. No #'s,no auto's,no nothing special cards except for the stickers. I would not trade my "old fashioned" for any of those very expensive recent products.

Not to mention that the wheel went off camera after every pull…meaning those balls most likely weren’t even in the wheel till and adding only towards the end. This is the reason why whatnot TOS states that items like that must stay on camera the entire time…definitely a scam and whatnot needs to refund everyone and take action!
The hobby is lucky to have people like you pointing out potential scammy behavior. Doesn't matter if these dweebs are actually scamming or not, a lot of people just don't even realize what potential there is for scamming with these re-packs, auctions, etc. You guys have probably saved a lot of people from being duped out of their hard earned money.

With all the hands-off tools at their disposal, to use a damn bingo style balls and wheel for such an expensive product and drawing is mind-blowing. So sketchy. Whatnot has a wheel built in to the app they could use. Watching the repack creator stare inside and choose the numbers is cringe. Looks 100% rigged to me.
Which gaming jurisdiction would sellers on whatnot fall under? Where they are located or where Whatnot is headquartered at? It would interesting to hear what their respective Gaming Commission would say about stuff like this. But hey, no CTRs need to be filed when buying "collectables!"
I guess it's technically a raffle, which in Florida where they are from is illegal for a business to operate. So, just call the Florida gaming authority and attorney generals office if you're serious.
Looks like an auction to me. They bid and highest bid wins. A raffle is where many people buy tickets or entries and a winner is drawn.

Platinum breaks rigged there own giveaway during there first repack product. The guy who they used to take spots in there own break with people not knowing hit 2 of the major chasers. His name was Crazy Cali guy on Breakers TV. He got drunk and told me one night when I asked how come he was always broke hitting monster cards and spending thousands a day. I haven't bought in a break since and that was almost 6 years ago at least. Shit like this is always rigged

Spot on with the Breakers. Yet card investments have to be considered as a stock trade. Long Term, Short term or intermediate term. Many great QBs haven't played great in the first few years. Usually going to bad teams early in the Draft. So, If you do your homework and the QB has a great coach and supporting coaches and a mentor they can turn it around. Cards like any investment have their good years and bad years. Let's hope everyone knows when to sell and buy. I made my mistakes selling guys way to soon.

I think the issue with sports is panini and fanatics with their “who’s junk is biggest” by buying out who can sign for what.
I saw Ohtani foul off a ball a couple games after tearing his UCL and he looked like he was in bad pain on a lot of his swings. This was before the supposed bruised muscle he got in batting practice. That guy is out because of that tear, hope he recovers and continues his 2 way playing career.
Statistically not impossible but highly improbable. Thanks for making the content and asking the tougher questions to try to keep the hobby as honest as can be. I would love less slimy car used salesmen type of people in our hobby and it’s on all of us to ensure we are teaching/showing negative aspects of the hobby to the future generations. I avoid BYB and actually do not buy into any breaks nor will I gamble for a card for the direct scammy feel and cannot 100% trust the process. Not knocking the hustle…it’s just not how I grew up collecting (since ‘89) nor will it ever be and it’s not my style.

Seems rigged and definitely not the first time they allegedly rigged their other breaks. They last time I was in their break it seemed like someone kept bidding up people. Someone stuck it to him and his payment didn’t go through. Then the next break he was back bidding, I left and haven’t been back.

One thing that must be understood as with any business is that they have complete control on how they deduct their business. With that being said that’s the risk with buying anything. even on eBay buying single cards trusting sellers . For example Someone says card would grade a 10, then you get the card and it graded a 8. You have no idea If they graded that card previously and saw the grade received for example. Shady babyyyyy

Lol this basically a unregulated casino.
Why not require these streamers once they’ve completed (blank) number of sales, to connect to a streamer software and require a minimum amount of 4k cameras to continue operation. Maybe that sounds like a lot, but like you said this guy made $400k in sales on one show, and the video quality is equivalent to those folks that capture ufo’s and bigfoots on camera. You can’t really make out what’s happening, especially watching on your phone.
The change would be great for buyers because you can zoom in on sketchy things in High definition, aka sellers won’t be scamming as much.
Great for whatnot in response for buyers as well, less complaints about being scammed and public image of those opposed to what not would improve drastically, as well as from a presentation standpoint…if there streaming app is pumping out high quality video and bringing in huge revenue for top influencers on what not, then that would bring interest from top influencers in other online content genres.
lastly it would be great for sellers, because they could actually have a shot at being a real influencer in this hobby, and use what not as stepping stone to something bigger, all while building there brand and growing from there.
Looks pretty damning to me... and as for gambling, the whole breaking thing is a gamble
