I just want to congratulate you on your detail-oriented analysis. Bravo. This person is not only completely unethical (as theft is a criminal act to be prosecuted), he also must feel pretty emboldened. He may be a magician, but it was clear as day on video there was a redemption in that box. Even his reaction defied reason. He yelled in surprise before even reading the redemption. I would just suggest ppl only opt for known and recognized breakers not these shady characters who plague the hobby. Start with the group breakers that are officially authorized on the card company corporate websites. And even if you do, always proceed with caution, as breaks are a form of non governed gambling.

It's a 12K case - he didnt know what the redemption was but he knew it was a redemption and you caught him. I don't care if it was a 100K card or a $10 card - a scam is a scam

I don't think he had time to see name, he just saw it was a redemption and put it to the side.

After he opened the 3rd box with the redemption he doesn’t separate the base cards right after opening the box like he does with all the other boxes, he was distracted by reading the redemption & only separates the base cards after he sets the redemption box to his right

This is exactly the kind of card a scammer would go after. It's not crazy in value, but enough to be worth the act of scamming. It's also a redemption, which makes it alittle easier to conceal. Was an excellent catch!!.....its same concept with counterfeiting. The smart ones make 5s,10s, and 20s. Nothing to big to draw attention

If you freeze it at 3:43 in this video you can clearly see the silver scratch off rectangle on the redemption card. That’s just crazy. Shady rips have always been a concern for me, especially if I’m spending sometimes over $1,000. Thanks for the content.
Even crazier part is he checked the bottom card from the stack to delay time for him to read the redemption. The corner of the box is in view of the camera and you can tell the open end is facing him perfectly.

For the life of me I don;t know why on Earth anybody would pay anyone anything to open their cards. . . . .I want to open my own cards, that is part of the thrill , I am concerned enough of the people that pack the card boxes all the way through to the hobby store owners , I'll be damed if I am going to add another chance to be ripped! but that's just my insecurities :)

They're one the breakers that gets a large volume of product, so if you're looking to break something like NT then you'll end up heading towards them or someone similar
I break cheap retail and cheap razzes and I have no where close to their following and I still always show the empty blaster or hanger because your Rep in this hobby is everything. Great job at being a detective!!
When I first started watching this, I thought some of this could be chalked up to ignorance but as the video continues and you pointed out the box laying on the table. You could clearly start to see that this is a scam and one that they have ran before. Great work! I just hope that this will be the last time they'll be able to run this scam on anyone else.

Talking about having his daughter read him redemption codes, while stealing another redemption for his daughter to read to him. Doesn’t get any worse than that. I’ve spent thousands breaking with these guys, and I honestly thought they were big enough to not risk ruining they’re reputation/business by scamming people. Well I was just proved wrong. The hobby has no place for this and platinum should be stripped of all of their allocations. They get more product than 99% of breakers, some of these distributors need to see this. Unfortunately like most things it’s all about the $ and unless the people still supporting them stop altogether, nothing will happen.
Best we can do is share on all social media to try and garner attention to this. The more people that see this, especially customers who break with them, the better. I know it likely will not do much, but there is no place for this shit in the hobby. This is just horrible.
The guy putting this out there is worth his weight in gold. Just so impressed that he picked up on that! I would never in a million years.

1st off, I’ve never heard of this group & I don’t get involved in breaks, so I have not fight in this battle. With that being said, WOW he handles those cards like a blackjack dealer at Caesars Palace! Legit slams them on the table. And these aren’t your everyday $20-30 blasters. Can’t believe how big a following they have w handling like that!
Regarding the scam, I initially gave him the benefit of the doubt that he legit just didn’t see it. But your video work is astounding and you can clearly see he had that 3rd box put to the side and it never made it into that trash bag.
I truly hope this is a solo act he does because otherwise you’ve got an entire scamming operation as I believe there are a buncha breakers for this group? Either way, this is no bueno.

Even if this was just a fluke and not a scam (which I believe it totally was a scam) there would still be no reason to do business with them. Simply because they should definitely make sure to be extra careful especially with expensive product people paid for. Then rough handling of the cards which too many people do it’s crazy. Shuffling the cards around and not taking care sleeving cards it’s comical.
Slamming them down on the table and sliding them around, stacking in big piles (assuming to make it hard to notice how many cards there are sitting there), all absolutely awful. Nobody should be doing business with these jokers. That stuff is expensive product, how they get away with doing this is beyond me. On top of stealing redemptions. Awful.

If it’s just going to sit in my collection I don’t mind waiting anyway. If I’m going to sell it, I’d want it to grade the highest possible. In both cases, the wait would be worth it

Thank you for this video - Platinum runs off a small group of people with what seems like unlimited funds. These guys have always been "scammers" - look at their repacks where they make SO much money and give complete trash. This was so obvious, I really wonder if that was the actual redemption in the box or a different massive card. Seems like he switched it out.
Definitely a redemption. Run the video at 1/4 speed and you can see it in the bottom of the third box.

Agreed, great video! The way the first person was stacking the NT cards it was like he was slamming them on top of each other. Its already bad enough thick cards have edge and corner problems more often, but then you have people like them who poorly treat the cards, they should be ashamed of themselves. The Justin fields card was the replacement card he had ready just in case he got caught, sucks for the customer that paid for a spot, cause there was a bigger card that was pulled.

Good catch, I honestly don't think I'll do anymore breaks that don't show the entire table,cards, people in the room, etc. Thanks for this I just started getting into this hobby and it's sketchy enough that they could simply pre open boxes and reseal them after taking out the high value cards. I'll never break with these people ik that.
These videos are great, one suggestion would be to learn how to use a screen recorder when creating these. Chrome has some extensions that can help you quickly. Great job though from the whole community (This is being shared around various groups im in)

First time I got back into card collecting a couple years ago I started watching breakers, Platinum was one of the first I came across..I didnt like how things were being done.. too much nonsense going on and people in and out of the room, I never broke with them , I found a couple others that were way more professional and easier to trust ..in my opinion
