But my favorite person who happens to be an actress, and a very good actress at that, is Emma Thompson! She just comes over as the person you would be honored to call 'friend'!
Of all the films I've ever seen, the scene in Love Actually where Emma Thompson realized her husband hadn't bought the necklace for her, and then struggled to put on her happy face for her children, is the total standout moment from any actor in anything. I shamed myself in the cinema by letting out a really loud sob. Total perfection Emma, a small moment in a brilliant career in film, but one which I will never forget.
I love her. She’s beautiful and has a wicked sense of humor. But, luckily I don’t agree that marriage is sometimes awful. I’m happily married for 42 years. Things happening around us may have been awful at times, sickness, money problems, family problems, death of loved ones. But, not one day has been awful being married to my husband. Not one.
Unless they are living in LA, British actors don't consider themselves part of the 'Hollywood scene' just because they are in some Hollywood financed films! I would say that goes for most European actors who feature in Hollywood films but still reside in their own countries.
I had the privilege of hosting Emma Thompson at my organisation when she was an Ambassador for Action Aid. I invited her to my home and she was completely down to earth. She had no fusses about food and really engaged with everyone she met. She invited me to her home in London where I met her mother and her husband Greg Wise. I have great pics of her visit.
My ex cheated on me from the beginning but I was blind, or chose to be, the first few years. I found a lovely piece of jewelry which I never did get as a present. The best part is I did end up getting that gorgeous bracelet after all. By this time I knew all about his affairs and it was out in the open. Yes I stayed and for good reason. I would have lost my daughter. He threatened full custody and I knew he would win. His family knew the right people. His brother got full custody of 3 kids including a teenage daughter. He had convictions of DUI, armed robbery, and aggravated sexual assault. But, back to the lovely bracelet. One day he came back from playing tennis and said, oh look what I found while playing. Yes it was that lovely bracelet in the box I never got. I took it and kept my mouth shut. After I left him I wore the bracelet one day when we met at the lawyer's and was twirling it on my wrist and said to him, I guess that affair didn't work out after all. The look on his face!!!! Maybe I should write a book.
She was our favorite in Sense & Sensibility too! There's nothing that makes us happier than knowing that she's found someone who loves her us much she deserves.

Emma got the last laugh anyway because not long after Ken and Helena's betrayal she did Sense and Sensibility and not only won herself an Academy Award but met the love of her life who she's been with ever since and had a child with while Ken got his karma when Helena cheated on him. And Helena got hers when she lost both Kenneth and Tim Burton. Hopefully now that she doesn't have Tim to keep her career alive she'll disappear for good.
