However, Colin seems like a truly good, kind, and caring person. He does a lot of work with groups like Oxfam and uses his fame to help promote these good causes. He does so without any fanfare or publicity. He remained on good terms with Meg Tilly after they split up. In fact, their spouses and children were friends, and they stayed at each other's houses. It is said that he sent an email to Livia's lover sympathizing with him because Colin knew that he had been hurt also. It is said that the story of them being separated was created in order to make Livia look like less of a villain. As with Meg Tilly, he has remained on good terms with Livia. That speaks to an extraordinary level of character on his part. I admire and adore him. Many of his female co-stars have said that he is an excellent kisser. What I wouldn't give to find that for myself.

Watch some videos where they appear together on the red carpets. Livia was constantly interrupting Colin and he, as famous as he is, was standing next to her all quiet like a little puppy and couldn't get a word in. Livia even said that, due to Colin's connection, she had access to celebrities for her brand. I believe Colin is such a good soul, he might be somewhat codependent and she took advantage.
Notice near the beginning of this video where they're on the red carpet or something and Colin leans into her to kiss her lips and she turns to catch his kiss on her cheek? How you see in some of the clips of them together he tends to lean toward her but you don't see her lean to him? That's something to look for with all couples.

This is just too sad. None of ‘us’ are inside THEIR marriage. What drove her to seek affection in someone else? Was he filming too much away from home? Was his attention on his career instead of family? We don’t know and will never know. Just because a couple is ‘beautiful’ doesn’t mean their life is beautiful. Just because Mr. Firth plays characters of men that women (including me!) would certainly fall in love with, doesn’t mean he is a gem to live with daily. Any marriage with children that falls apart is sad. All the money and fame and success can’t help a marriage with flaws. And what marriage DOESN’T have a flaw?
