    This is a great build and a great explanation of what works for you. I've had my 6 x 10 v-nose trailer for years now and have left it as just a shell because it had to serve as my main storage solution for my motorcycles. Now that I've been able to build a garage I'm scouring CZcams for different conversion builds that will still allow me to haul a bike or two to events but add some comforts for the overnight stays at tracks or rallies. Up until now It's just been an air mattress on the floor of an uninsulated metal box with limited ventilation. Your Spartan design as you call would give me just enough amenities to be comfortable but still have that utilities space when I need it.

    Your fuel pump insulation for noise and temp control, try using rock wool. A little pricey but very effective in both uses. I also love the layout. The spartan use of space leaves it open to quick change of use. Very effective.

    I'M PARTIAL TO THE PROPEX HEATER , ESPECIALLY FOR A SMALL SPACE. DAVE AT BEND TRAILER HAS ONE ON HIS 6X12 FAMILY SIZED TEAR DROP. THEY TEND TO BE QUITE AND USE LESS WATTS FOR THE FAN AND NO PUMP NOISE. THE EXHAUST IS CLEAN PROPANE.
    I LIKE YOUR BUILD WITH THE NOSE CABINET AND THE OPENESS. A MAGNETIC SCREEN FOR THE REAR DOOR WOULD BE NICE AND A COUPLE OF FOLDING LEGS ON YOUR REAR DOOR FOR A PATIO. YOU DEFINITELY GAVE SOME GOOD IDEAS AND YOUR BUILD IS VERY NEAT AND TIDY. THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE TOUR.

    I had one before and built a small box with 1/4 plywood and lined it with solid foam insulation board covered in yoga mat (glued to the foam board). the box was just taped together instead of other fasteners (except the top face to easily access the box). I was going to go back and glue or fasten, but it worked great and I didn't need to and made it easy to completely take apart. It wasn't my idea to do the small box with foam, I saw someone else on here do it

  • @davej7434
    @davej7434 Před rokem +3

    I have my pump inside my battery box also, but I made a pool noodle/ foam pipe insulation to wrap the pump in, then left over 1" pink foam I made a box out of that I have the pump in at the correct angle, the foam box was glued together with some construction glue to hold it together, that little pink box is just the right size to drop into the battery box comfortably. On a real quiet night standing next to the battery box I can just hear it cycle.

    Hello 867, I'm going into my fifth summer in my 6X12 which is a work in progress. I just add and delete things as experience using the trailer dictates. For my diesel heater fuel tank and pump I built a plywood box for the nose of the trailer and lined it with rubber backed carpet. Then using 1/4 inch rubber tubing I hung the pump at the appropriate angle in the box next to the fuel container so as it was not touching anything solid. I found that mounting the pump solidly even with the supplied rubber mount transmitted the ticking right into the trailer which was eliminated with this mounting method. While I have added a bed and some storage to my trailer I do most everything outside so there is no kitchen or shower in it. I sure hope you enjoy your trailer as much as I enjoy mine. Thanks for the video.

In any case, you are using the wrong diesel fuel container, DOT approved containers are yellow and have a different chemical formulation of the plastics in order to remain stable when the fuel is in them, also from a safety concerns, emergency personal are trained to recognize yellow as a diesel container. Red fuel containers are to be use Only for the storage and transport of Gasoline type of fuel. Thank you and good luck

I just sold a 15-passenger shuttle bus that I lived in for 3 years and traveled out west during the winters. I had to sell the shuttle bus because I purchased a large format color printer to make contour cut decals/stickers, koozies, t-shirts, magnetics, banners, mousepads, etc. The large format color printer would have taken up a lot of storage space so I needed to get something bigger. I did a complete conversion series on the shuttle bus from the ground up and now am doing a new series on the cargo trailer conversion. They are on my YT channel.

      Thank you for your comment. The cargo trailer camper concept is a great one. This will allow you to build a camper that fits your needs. If it's only one person camping I would say you could get by with a 6x10 trailer. This would be less demanding on your tow vehicle and burn less fuel. If you like more space or theirs 2 people then the 6x12 would fit the need and not require much more fuel and the same tow vehicle likely will handle it. Both are nimble to drive and back up.
      Have fun with your build and remember less is more.

      The Maxxair fan Really helps keep the trailer cool in warm conditions. Open the windows and or the screen door and you really get good airflow. If your cooking inside, it will pull the moist air from the cabin space as well as cooking odors. The maxxair can be used in the rain as its waterproof in the opened position. This is a real improvement over the old-style roof vents. get one and enjoy all the benefits in your camper. Have a great week

    Great video. Not over produced or complicated. Easy to watch. I too have a 6x12 cargo trailer. It's a 1995 Wells Cargo. All steel and the panels are galvanized steel. Empty it weighs in at 1,000 lbs. It has no rust. I have looked at many different builds throughout the years. I am now a little older but can bot walk at this time. (I'm trying to learn how to again. So I have a ramp in the back. I am unable to use the regular RV door. I am installing a winch for the ramp to make it automatic. Switching put the manual front jack for an electric jack. I need to install a couple of windows. That's the only construction I will be doing. Keeping it like yours.....very simple and practical. Do you have any links to your cot and diesel heater. I currently have 2 buddy heaters and they have been great. Still are. I have liked and subscribed to your channel. Looking forward to watching your adventures and what not. Hi @peterdement, Thank you for your comment. Yes, your 100% right on having the weep hole facing down. Thank you for pointing this out as in most applications this is how it should be done. My endeavor was and is to keep the muffler from hanging down below the trailers support structure thus keeping it from becoming hung up and damaged by objects hitting it. If the muffler rusts out I will replace it. Please like, subscribe to the channel, ring the bell and let others on your social media know about the channel. Have a great day

      The Goodyear tires have a service life of 6 years according to Goodyear tires website depending on accumulated road miles.
      The tires on my trailer were manufactured on the 22nd week of 2020 thus l still have 2 more years of service life left.
      Other factures that influence tire life are accumulated milage and sun/weather exposure. My trailer is well within tread wear limits, and given that it's always stored inside when not in use tires have minimal exposure to the suns uv rays.
