I'm the Paul player. I didn't trash from my hand on 22:22. I had 4 cards because I used one to go there. Also, on 24:50 I put the troop because I got Stilgar with my draw and got 5 swords, enough to beat Ariana. But she unexpectedly used rapid to put more troops. It wasn't a bad move.
Sorry, thought I had responded. It's defo something you can do but I don't always think going immediate swordmaster in base game is the best thing. If you don't have much agent box abilities then you're not doing a whole lot with the extra actions so maybe a more delayed route can be beneficial.

Yeah, figured you must have had something to put the 3rd troop in. Weird doesn't mean bad at all and a R3 rapid is pretty wild as well.
Why no Great flat turn 1 with sell melanage for a turn two swordmaster?
