    I'm planning to install one this week. Unlike your bumper which the installation cables are securely placed inside bumper assembly. Mine seems exposed to the bottom. I think I should have the cables wraped with something.
    BTW where do you put the beeper? I found mine when I put on the test the sound is extremely loud and a bit annoying. Did you put additional cover on it?

    2002-2004 Honda Odyssey rear sensor Installation is a little more tricky but still similar to the one in this video. When drilling your holes for the sensors you'll need to avoid the inner reinforcement steel beam directly behind the plastic bumper. There's no need to remove the rear bumper completely but I highly recommend to at least peel back the plastic bumper by not removing the bottom underneath fasteners so you can see where the holes can be drilled, . The two center #2 & #3 sensors will end up being a little further apart than recommended about 27 inches apart . The two outer sensors #1 & #4 on both ends won't be a problem to clear of the inner steel enforcement. Also, the back-up light on the older Odyssey models is in the lift gate so it's going to require some extra wire fishing to get the wires to the inside of the Driver's quarter panel. Be expecting to take a good afternoon to complete the job.

    How much clearance do you need behind the plastic bumper for the sensors? My rear bumper cover doesn't seem to have much room behind it to install the sensors because of the steel support so close. Is the kit drill bit strong enough to drill holes in the metal as well?

    Thanks for the video. Didn't you mount the display upside-down? It has numbers to read the distance... I bought an 8-sensor kit on Amazon for under $30 I think, didn't install it yet...I may mount the display on top of the dash or on the sun visor edge where I can fold it down a couple inches to view it. It is for front & rear. I bought a GMC Envoy XUV, the model that the rear opens up like a Chevy Avalanche, and I'm stumped where to put the box and wiring---I can't think where to run the wires, I may need to run them under the vehicle because the cargo area gets hosed out and there's a divider wall with electric window behind the rear seats sealing the cargo area from the passenger area; it also folds down if I want to haul sheets of plywood. I also bought a dashcam that came with a rear camera and---same story---stuck on where to mount it and run the wiring. I can't do a license mount because the tailgate has an electric window and opens both down like a pickup and also hinges to open like old Ford station wagons...besides, my license plate mounting only has bottom holes. May need to mount next to hitch receiver... but maybe seeing I need to remove rear bumper, I can mount it centered in the bumper with the sensors while I have it off...Thanks again.

    @jlowe1463 Před 5 lety

    Very well made video, thank you for showing all the details. I'm fed up with videos made with one hand holding the camera while trying to do the work with the other. Questions: so the power is connected to backup light power source so when it is in reverse gear the sensor will function. What about the last part of the video? You approached the back of the vehicle and the alarm sounds. Was the engine on then? I'm assuming so cause when you're in a parking lot and trying to backup(even before gearing to reverse) you want to know if there are cars or people coming from the other direction. And you don't want the sensors on when the vehicle is quietly parked in your garage or a parking space.

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  Před 5 lety

      That last part of the testing is with car running and gear in reverse. The backup sensors only come on when gear in reverse. It does not come on when you have it park or drive. This is same as how a factory system work.

  • @elyzensshuffledancemix2095

      The practical way of using the system is listen to the beeps. Once the beeping gets really fast to almost constant, you know you need to stop. This is same way you use a factory backup system. Basically no need to read the little number.

    Nice one. I had a 6 sensor system installed 4 for the rear and 2 for the front corners. Since you installed the display upside down i guess you don't use the distance display and just use the beeping? I actually had installed a reverse and front camera too because the sensors can't be trusted to pick up everything. The rear corner sensors pick up anything the rear camera misses. The front sensors/camera comes in handy in close quarter parallel parking..Allows me to get much closer than i would if i was just eyeballing it.

      On this Honda Odyssey, the inside of the bumper has markings stamped on it from the factory. I just used those locations. If you have a different vehicle, you can put painters tape on the outside of the bumper, then measure equal distance and height for each sensor (or match close to what location factory uses if it's an option).

    Does the sensor work all the time ? Or just when you put it in reverse gear ? In my country people get stuck in traffic a lot. I would be deaf from that noise if it kept beeping every time a bike or car came close enough to my sensor. So do please answer.

    • @dial2fast

      This is a backup sensor. Hence only on when car in reverse.

    are the 4 sensors independant ? i.e. playing with the hand in front of each successively generates 4 corresponding bip series

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  Před 5 lety

      The 4 sensors are independent. The LED display has 4 different segments for the 4 sensors. The beep sound is the same for all 4 sensors.

    • @Engineer9736
      @Engineer9736 Před 4 lety

      Just the sensor with the smallest distance measurement is used i guess. Otherwise the system wouldn’t make sense. If there is a little pole behind the left of your car, you want to stop before that pole and not what is further away in front of the other sensors.

    You were not kidding when you said "inexpensive" lol, didn't expect less than $20! I'm thinking of getting this for my Jeep Wrangler, pretty sure my rear bumper is metal with just a plastic covering, how well does that little hole drill handle metal?

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Just spray some WD-40 or other spray lubricant as you drill, and the drill bit should last for the install.

    Are these 4 sensors are two separate transmitter- receiver pair?
    One for left and one for right judgement?
    Or
    All are four separate combined tx+rx each?
    Regards

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  Před 3 lety

      Each sensor is a separate sensing unit. There really is no Tx/Rx as in data being sent. The sonar sensor probably changes resistance when objects get close to it.

    • @jijeshkorothpoyil2697
      @jijeshkorothpoyil2697 Před 3 lety

      They are 40khz piezo electric elements. emitting short pulses of ultrasonics then capture echo.
      Then by doing math using microcontroller to estimate the distance to the reflection surface.
      As we know velocity of sound in air as around 340m/s
      There is an ultrasound transmission and reception.
