a cat jump scare while holding a cat is actually impressive.
"CAAAAAT!" -Nostalgia Critic, End of Days review
It's kind of like the Spanish inquisition being surprised by the Spanish Inquisition. Nobody would expect it!
Nah I think it's adorable. The only time a cat would scare me is if it actually bites me and gives me a disease
Where's Lloyd when you need him?
Honestly given how cats tend to react to seeing another cat that is much scarier. The claws are gonna fly!
“Catering to an audience that doesn’t exist.”
I love you.
The Stepfather: PERFECT FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT!
And if you don't know who I'm referencing with that joke, type in the words "Kyle Norty" in the search box.
I told my wife that I hated the taste of her coffee. She told me that was because arsenic can really fuck up the taste.
lol
Strange things happen to people who don't drink Wilkins Coffee!
Ha!
Wow those commercials.
Nothing says loving like “your coffee sucks!”
People were insensitive back then.
Typical 1950s marriage.
@@SpeedyEric1 look good and make tasty coffee. Nothing else matters.
I say those asshole should make their own goddamn coffee. It ain't that hard. Pour grounds into cup with filter, pour water, hit the fuckin start button. Done. I don't drink the shit, but every time I do make it, people praise my coffee. I'm always dumbfounded.
People were wickedly awful in the 50s.
In all seriousness, Happy Father's Day everyone! I'm so glad my dad is a wonderful guy and not a serial killer!
Ever heard of 'The Happy Face killer?
I feel like the mom was SUCH an idiot in this film. She is literally told that her new husband GRABBED her younger son by the back of the neck hard enough to hurt him, and her reaction is "oh he apologized, so it's fine". Unfortunately, too many people overlook red flags like that in real life, which is what makes this especially frustrating.
Consider the intelligence of an average person and then recoil in horror at the fact that close to half of the population is even dumber than that.
@@tintinismybelgian Then add the intelligence of a horror movie character and feel your own IQ begin to drop from the stupidity you are experiencing. 😄
And that is why she died in The Fugitive. LOL
I agree with you
Women ignoring their partner hurting their kids is such a common thing its practically a cliche. My former sister in law used to get handcuffed and locked in her closet by her own mother from 13 on bc she was "seducing" the mom's boyfriend i.e. the mom would walk in on her boyfriend raping her daughter and she'd blame the daughter.
He should’ve been drinking Wilkins Coffee
Couldn't have said it better myself!
@@TommyDeonauthsArchives if you don’t drink Wilkins , you just don’t go
Strange things happen to people who drink Wilkins.
@A Sparrow With A Machine Gun 'Aw, that's alot of.....'(BOOM!)
guess the snob is a wontkins
i screamed oh shit when that cat appeared on the screen. and i got the whole theater to laugh only reaction by the theater the whole movie lol.
Dylan Walsh would have made a better villain on a show like Dexter than in a Stepfather movie.
Just finished watching the "Boots to Reboots" episode of this. It's great to have you both reviewing this garbage, especially since you introduced me to the original.
I like to think Terry O'Quinn's cameo would've been the stepfather to the stepfather.
June is "Adopt a Cat Month".
(Lloyd approves of this message.)
Amber Heard irl is more frightening than this movie. By a whole lot. And I bet her coffee doesn't taste good either.
Yeah that chick cray…
Yeah, it tastes like shit!
Cheers
P.S. When Amber offers breakfast in bed, just say NO!!!!
Wow this one completely flew under my radar. I didn't know there was a Stepfather remake until it was brought up by the Snob. But I think I'll stick with Terry O'Quinn as my Stepfather.
Which number family of his are you a part of?
Terry O’Quinn was definitely creepier in the original. I’m going to watch the review of the original now.
Yes, he was, because he was playing a vicious killer in the guise of the perfect family man; Dylan Walsh acts so obviously unstable and makes such stupid mistakes that he comes off as more of a cartoon than a threat.
agreed he actually acted like a normal good guy if you didn't see the first scene you'd never know he was an unstable k1ll3r.
@@ddjsoyenby Based on what you just said, they should've cut out the opening scene or re-positioned it to sometime later in the film.
First the Maniacal Cinephile, now the Cinema Snob. You know it’s Father’s Day when you get two episodes reviewing the shitty remake of The Stepfather.
That's not Bryan Cranston, Brad. That's clearly Paul Giamatti
Terry O'Quinn is more terrifying than his replacement stepfather
What about Amber Heard? X_x
@@dubuyajay9964 lolol
The point was this one was supposed to be charming and clearly lying about himself
@@ninjanibba4259 yes but Terry looks like he could be your neighbor on how normal he looks that is why he is so terrifying but I do find the replacement stepfather actor is excellent personality for this type of movie reboot
@@emperortrevornorton3119 yeah, I haven’t seen those yet, I was introduced to this one first, but I’ll check them out
7:35 needs a "Bushwhacked" Clip!
Or the Nostalgia Critic screaming "CAAAAAT!"
1:08
I like how Amber Heard's name appeared next to the stepfather. A real life monster and a fictional monster.
Is it bad that when he said “Who am I here?” I laughed
I love how you made this stepfather self-aware and he’s so disappointed in this family for being idiots 😂
Now here's a remake I had no idea it existed.
I vaguely remember seeing this advertised on TV back in the day.
I keep trying to forget that 2009 "remake" of The Uninvited from 1944.
This movie always creeped me out during the scene where the kids girlfriend is in the Kitchen in her bikini talking to the step father. It was done for "Fan service" but in execution came across as the Step Father checking out the teen girl.
Damn I wonder why terry oquinne didn’t wanna be in it. Lol
Between his script for the original and his adaptation of “The Grifters,” Donald E. Westlake really could’ve had a great career as a screenwriter. Shame he had to ruin it by being an even better novelist/writer.
THESE are the step-dads that's on Dexter's shit list. XD
Happy Father's day to all the dads out there. Thanks for the upload, Mr. Snob.
Boots to Reboots also made a video about the Stepfather remake and just released it a few minutes before this review
Where? 🤣
One of those remakes that should have been good if it wasn't from 2009ish.
It did start out like an episode of Criminal Minds. By the end I was expecting Morgan to kick down the door and save everyone.
As soon as I saw Penn Badgely, I knew this has to be in the You Universe somehow.
Now that he’s reviewed all the stepfathers, I hope he will move on to those “stepbro” movies I’ve been hearing about lately
This movie was only worth it for introducing me to Band of Horses in middle school
Who?
Loved the Folgers commercials
Wish my father was still alive, he really enjoyed horror movies (not sure about this remake though.)
I wish he was here to hate this movie with the rest of us. RIP to all the dad's who aren't here but are still celebrated for being awesome when they were.
It's fun watching The Step father with you & your comments
Now that you have all the Stepfather films out of the way, you can finally review Creepshow.
Bloody hell; the first 20 years of the new millennium might as well be dubbed *The Generation of Crappy Reboots.*
16:40 How does it feel to be punched Amber Heard.
I actually got an ad for folgers right after the old folgers ad lol 😂😭
oh look its i amber "i faked abuse and my family thinks i am mental for nearly cutting off jack sparrow finger" heard
A cat jump scare shown with a character holding a cat is a memorable creative jump scare.
*George:* How can a wife make such a bad coffee?
*Me:* Because she wasn't using Wilkins Coffee!
*Martha:* I heard that!
What a lovely gift. Snob and Andy review the same film on the same day. If only I was a dad or a Stepdad. #ForeverAlone. TTnTT.
I’ve seen better reenactments on America’s Most Wanted than this remake. It’s disrespectful to the original to compare the two but even if you don’t, it’s still not worth remembering.
First BootsToReboots, now TheCinemaSnob, both of them either didn't know or felt the need to mention that we got a "subtle" implied lesbian relationship between Jackie and her friend in this movie. I mean, I know many people dreaded the 2000s but here they handled it right. Nowadays a lesbian relationship would probably be the main focus even though sometimes it doesn't need to be this way. Here the focus wasn't necessary and they knew that. This is a harmless thing in the background.
riiiiight.
Thank you for not only making watching gossip girl worth it, but nip/tuck too!
On that coffee commercial, in an alternate world, when the husband basically says that his wife's coffee sucks, she would simply say "Make your own fuckin' coffee, you unappreciative douchebag motherfucker!" (In a serene 50's housewife voice, of course.)
Cinema Snob just made this Father Day a little sweeter🤣😂
I remember this movie cuz I had one of the best dates ever when we saw this.
Reminds me of Brad saying he had a date to see the That Darn Cat remake, and there was no second date.
@@SpeedyEric1 ironically, there wasn't a 2nd date for me either.😔😔😔
I bet you had fun on that date...
@@TommyDeonauthsArchives i actually did. Lol. One of the highlights was me and this girl were driving to the movies and the police got behind us and started flashing its lights and we thought it was because of me but it wasn't and we were both happy that it wasn't, we just made out for like 20 minutes straight. Then we wound up kissing at every stoplight. 😅😅😅😅it was GOOD too!
Maybe it’s cuz I went through the same thing without the killing, but I discovered this movie when I was 17, same age as Michael dealing with my mom with a new guy out of nowhere and not trusting him, plus I was going through some other stuff at the time to add to my stress
So this movie hits home with me, I know it’s not perfect but the theme of a possible stepfather while not having a dad was scary and I understood Michael
Your editing is the best!
Nuisance?! Subtlety? Nah, forget that stuff that made the original interesting! PG-13 & CHOPPY EDITING IS NEEDED!!!
Man those coffee commercials really knows how to call me out 😆
Just buy Wilkins Coffee next time!
@@TommyDeonauthsArchives If you don't drink Wilkins Coffee, you're not all there.
@@Launchpad05 In fact without Wilkins Coffee, you're nowhere!
It takes away all of the suspense when you make the mother’s son an adult. …Wait, he’s supposed to be 16?!
You know you have a great remake when NO ONE remembers that it exists until the Cinema Snob does an episode of it. Keep up the great work Snob! :)
I knew this remake existed before the review.
No whistling of _Camptown Races_ in a Stepfather movie?! #NotMyStepfather
Yeah, why aren't I watching Looney Tunes?
Happy Father's Day!!!
Hi Mr. Snob, Happy Father's Day ❤
Im NEVER against remakes and reboots, if they are good, Great!
If they aren't like this one, just go back to the originals!
Nothin' is lost, they either stay the same or somethin' is gained.
The next holiday that comes up, you should totally do a Snob Riffs overtop of all those coffee commercials!
Great reviews 👌
Let’s face it, Amber Heard in drag would’ve been better casting.
Yeah bro, swim rock!
Brad the trailer of next holloween just doped.
Happy Father's Day
The biggest difference I noticed with the original versus the remake is that you can SEE the original! I'm not a fan of the too dark to see cinematography. I actually like being able to see what's happening in a film I'm watching.
A PG rated Stepfather reboot is just so wrong. Mind you its not a demand that i must have gore and viscera to enjoy a feature, but when you make the movie feel like a cozy Hallmark rom com its just wrong. Still Dylan Walsh is OK but there is only one stepfather.
even the unrated version isn't that violent
agreed he just doesn't capture the creepy yet deceptive feeling of the original actor.
16:26 "Idiots! All idiots!"😆
New snob episode and I made it in first 500 views! Perfect for Father’s Day
I agree that this remake was surprisingly Michael Bay despite him not remotely being involved in it.
At least it's not Paul W.S. Anderson...
Walsh was cast perectly. In Nip/tuck he was amazing as the family man with instable episodes that made you ask if he might kill someone
This is classic Cinema Snob!
Happy Father's Day!
"U threw my burger suit in the pool. Didn't you ya son of a bitch." - Cinema Snob(2021)
happy fathers day to the dad of a handsome siamese cat
Those foldgers commercials lol
Oh my yes!!!!
This movie feels like they git half way through making it before realizing they didnt want to make a stepfather remake anymore
This movie really shows how crucial Jim Ogleby was to the success of the first film; seeing things through the vantage of Ogleby and his desperate search to find the murderer of his sister and his nephew and niece gave the audience a sense of desperation and the feeling that The Stepfather was a step ahead of everyone. In this movie, I actually found myself rooting for The Stepfather, because it seemed like the walls were closing in around him almost from the start. That so many of the protagonists we're supposed to sympathize with in this one come off as arrogant, whereas The Stepfather actually seems more down to Earth in contrast, even if we know it is a put on.
9:25 "goddamn, what the fu#$ is this? Coincidence town!?! Lmao!!! The anger in his voice is beautiful
Dude. You asked me to use the expired coffee grounds
This re-make even manages to jam in a few beats from the third stepfather movie.
happy fathers day everyone
Terry should've totally played Jay! Confronting David about how he's treating HIS kids before getting brutally murdered by The Stepfather:):) Plus Jerry...Jay...;)
How times have changed. In this day and age, those coffee commercials would end with that coffee splashed in the husband's face and a "suggestion" that he get up and make his own damn coffee. What a time to be alive!
Where was Lloyd? It isn't the same if he isn't there to give us out of context explosions from 911. Did the Stepfather take him down offscreen? So PG-13!!!
(@7:39) The cat looks pleased at what Stepfather had done🤣
Up early today, Brad? Is somebody heading into church todayyy? 😘
20 years from now they’ll remake it again and will be shown on Nick Jr 😐
Brad Jones did it again ! 10/10 :-)
I like the guy that plays the son.I love the women that plays his mother. I can't remember what I saw her in first, that made me a fan. The guy playing the Stepfather is a duchbag. Perfect face for the part
I love nip tuck so I’m a sucker for anything any of the characters are in plus pen badgly is verrryyy handsome:)
Jeez what was with the obsession in the 2000s with making horror movies pg-13
Hope you'll be ok, man...
What is with Hollywood and taking successful R rated movies and watering them down to PG-13?
The best thing Amber Herd has been in, and will ever be in.
I still don't understand how you can make bad coffee. You didn't make the brand of coffee, you're just brewing it
