In the manga, all the Shadow Garden members wear masks so no one recognises them but directors changed it (with the permission of Author) because of the budget issues. Mostly it is considered as the hood hide their faces or cast a shadow on them.

@@typingissage_ In the Manga and Light Novel Cid/Shadow wore both he mask and the hoodie, they just removed the mask thats all. But essentially, other people can't see anything, its just completely black with his red eyes shining through.
But budget constraints made them change a few things, its sad that they didn't get more budget because if you've read the manga or light novel its quite obvious that the creators really like the story.
He hides half his face, speaks with a completely different voice and makes his eyes red. And he canonically has a kind of anti-recognition magic.
that's why he can't be recognized as Shadow
Its only getting better as you get more attach to characters, S1E20 and S2E3 are one of the best episode of anime i ever watched .

I will never get tired of seeing people's first reaction to I Am Atomic.
Very tiny detail, but that monster that Alpha stopped dropped a locket, it was the same locket that the bad guy from Episode 2 dropped.
This is the first indicator that, even below the MC's roleplaying and the comedy, if you look closely there is a pretty dark and interesting story underneath thats playing out for all the characters that aren't the MC that you can follow, which feels really unique about the Eminence in Shadow.
When Cid says anything, never assume it is right lol.
You gotta keep continuing this anime, especially for episode 14, 17, 18, 19, 20. For season 1. I'd say these episodes are the peakest of peak in terms of the arc they are in.
W reaction most people suck at reacting to this show
One thing that the anime adaptation doesn't properly explain; Is that Cid, quite literally, went insane in his previous life. And now after reincarnating he rationalizes himself out of reaching the right conclusions because he thinks his "sick mind" is making stuff up. Cid is fighting delusions that don't really exist and as a result, he's creating real delusions for himself.
BTW Kage in JP means Shadow, so yeah, some of the name are straight up hilarious so don't miss them XD
Don't even worry about the plot, my boi Cid makes the plot☠
