Hope the redwoods stand strong against such tremendous winds!
Pretty sure they've been around the block a few times. But wait, let me guess, this time is different!!!!
Good lumber 😅
What is a terrible hurricane for fragile humans, is an enjoyable freshening breeze for those strong trees. They would survive nuclear explosions.
@@Rider.WhiteHorsethey've been dropping in Oregon recently...
Considering they’ve been standing for hundreds of years, I think they’ll do just fine. Remember there was a hurricane that hit California six months ago, and recordkeeping has only been occurring for the past 140 years. So the story is only halfway factually true at best.
An atmospheric river, what a great description! I hope the person in that car with the tree on top of it doesn't suffer much and is healed fast.
They started calling them this in NZ during Cyclone Gabrielle. Pretty much the rain lasted most of last year in the N.Island.
'Weather bombs' before that- now 'Atmospheric rivers' !
Guess it's the ' new normal' ? Yes, I hate that one too. 🤨
@@rickh3714 Pineapple Express was the last term but the pineapples were offended and a new term was coined.
Yeah it's a really apt term, I'm hoping the pineapple express atmospheric river delivers a good deal of water after ir passes the mountains, we need more snow and rain in the heartland and midwest
@@rickh3714 I remember atmospheric rivers, pineapple express, and bomb cyclones when I lived in Southern California in the 90s. I don’t think these are new terms. It was an atmospheric river last year that filled all the reservoirs in California. The media just thinks we all have short-term memory.… I guess many people do. Remember there was a hurricane that hit California just six months ago, and there’s been numerous hurricanes to hit the state over the last century. So definitely not their first hurricane force wind warning. But hey… It’s good for ratings right???
@@breakinghues2751
It's a seeming never ending oscillation of extremes in some parts of NZ ( upper & Eastern N.Island + Canterbury in the S.I.)
Having said that hottest I've personally been in NZ is 41.5 C at Ohope Beach in 1978 (way before the current climate change issue was prominent) A temp which is probably pretty normal for hotter parts of the US & Australia in summer. Or cold for Death valley?
A big factor of the recent cyclones and flooding in NZ was ironically due to a N. Californian native. Invasive Pinus radiata/ Monterey pine trees which now overtake our native Bush & rainforests. They were often badly harvested and leftover logs & whole trees ( slash) clogged the rivers making it several times worse.
These trees were ironically often planted by the carbon guilt crowd within the oil industry.
" Plant trees! " ?
NO! Plant the RIGHT trees in the right places!
26 yrs ago a a university lecturer told me as an adult student, this exotic pine monoculture land despoilation issue would happen.
We sent a lot of our huge native Kauri trees to S.F. California in the 19th Century for many houses built out of them to burn in the 1908(?) S.F earthquake & subsequent fire!
Good luck to California.
Here in Northern Ireland, we had 2, as our weather meteorologists called storms, straight after another called Isha and Jocelyn, both storms had winds of 80mph +, Isha had winds over 100mph. There were families without power for almost a week.
So definitely praying for everyone in California 🙏
Jesus Christ is coming back soon 🙏 🙌
The Emerald Isle seems like a place where storms are part of daily life there. Cheers! ☘️
😂😂😂😂Let's
give thanks for the great contributions of the Democrats community to our society. I love driving down there streets and seeing the American flag waving so proudly in every yard. Their peaceful and generous nature make them ideal neighborhoods family values and parenting skills unrivaled by any other culture. You can witness this by their strict adherence to our local and Federal laws. Their commitment to academic excellence en-riches our schools and services as an example to all who hope to achieve prominence as people. Just watching their Special kind of Science change our society is simply amazing. I mean, who ever thought there are 187 Genders? Real estate values are fueled by the mix of Democrat Americans into an area due to their caring and respectful nature of all they have achieve through their enthusiasm for self improvement by hard work and a self-reliant can-do nature. Keep the rain comin down no more drought.
It’s important to understand that other areas of the country receive more storms or rainfall than California. A storm like this may not be so catastrophic in the southeast, but since it doesn’t typically rain as much in those areas, the danger is heightened.
San diego has been sunny
Stay safe California 🇺🇲
Ours hearts are with you ❤California 😢
I'm in Rancho Cordova, right next to Sacramento. It's a bit odd to see the places you're familiar with torn apart by wind. A railroad crossing I live near has had all four crossing guards ripped off and strewn about, and a power line pole is snapped at the base, with only a few electrical wires holding it from crushing the street below it.
If it's this bad here, I can't imagine how much it sucks for the coastline cities taking the brunt of the storm.
Well, looks like I’m not going out for a few days.
Do you have enough food?
It's why some of us are not driving unless necessary

You'd think those heavier looking trees would be so deeply rooted into the ground that you couldn't knock it over.
Clearly, I am quite wrong. They must be super top heavy. Heavy winds meeting heavy tree with heavy ground saturation.

This is Washington State's and Oregon's annual weather pattern. Strange that it has shifted south this year. Stay safe, everyone in the storm-hit areas.
The lowest natural-disaster risk in the entire state of California is going to be at Moreno Valley, CA. God spares all the diverse population there, and not obsess with the million-dollar homes lifestyle.
I guess it was a logical choice to make to build a home near a tree that can destroy a house if it falls down, and it did! Trees can fall anytime, and then crush a home if a home is built near a big tree, or trees!!!
One of our trees fell on our garage last year..🫤
It's California...they don't have common sense...just lots of weed!
When I buy a house I will Definitely watch for trees
yes but having trees around also protects structures from wind damage
And provide shade. And they are beautiful. Cutting down all trees around the house is stupid. Keep the trimmed and healthy and hope for the best.
Life threatening yet people on bikes sitting there in the midst of it smh
Hopefully tsunami will not come this time.

If you look at topographical maps, particularly with cities that always flood in California you will see homes should never have been built - where mountains split leaving hundreds of miles of rain flowing into the sand flood areas.
