  • This 1972 Lincoln Continental Mark IV is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. In 1972 Lincoln released the new and improved Mark IV. Based off the T bird chassis and roofline the Mark IV was a distinct car from the windows down. The two most distinguishing factors on the Continental had to be the hideaway headlights and that one off rear deck lid. This beauty is a rare find given those mentioned hideaway’s work, much like the rest of this beauty. This car has been meticulously maintained its whole life with general maintenance performed on a regular basis this car is a true testament to good old Detroit engineering. Speaking of Detroit engineering under the hood is another piece of that heritage. The 460 Big Block in this beauty is the original motor that it left Wixom Michigan with. Still running strong and not blowing any smoke this big block seems to have plenty of life left. The 460 is backed up by its original C6 transmission. It shifts nice and smooth as butter. The chrome wire wheels are an excellent touch giving the car a great custom look that is period correct. With the “Sure-Track “brakes it makes this one of the first American cars to have an ABS system from the factory. The interior is where the Mark IV really separates itself from the rest. The dark blue interior is original and with no signs of major wear it truly is a great example. These Lincolns have become extremely popular in the last couple of years with a following that are extremely devoted this 72 Mark IV is a great car a great price. Options on this 1972 Lincoln Mark IV include AC, AM/FM radio with Cassette player, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Windows, Power Seats, Power Locks, Seat Belts, and Radial Tires. The 1972 Mark IV is the SLEEKEST/SHARPEST of the Mark IV's! I would love to see this car with the vinyl roof removed and all metal! I've seen that done to a Mark III and they look amazing, the lines really pop! The right hand mirror is an add on as there was no such option in 1972. Rims, obviously, are after market. Love this car!

Power steering and power brakes could NOT have been options on a Mark IV. Imagine driving one of these with manual brakes and steering.

Wheels matched perfectly and it's what I would put on mine. And they were widely accepted during this Era as well.
