    I think some people don't realize the amount of time they spend typing an analysis is longer that the time the brain has to react in the actual moment. Thanks for posting, even if its not a happy watch its proof of the side of racing you have to consider but never want to experience. Cheers to the next build, whatever form
    It may be

    Went to the Skip Barber 3-Day racing school there in 1981. Great weekend. I flat footed the last curve - the one you didn’t get to - at 103 mph and ran over a red cone at the apex. Then I dragged it halfway down the main straight.

    The time you had to make a decision was crazy short so this isn't to say you were at fault at all, but I guess this goes to show... if you can't see ahead of the car infront and they slow down at a time you'd normally expect them to accelerate, chances are they've seen something you haven't and potentially "gently" spinning them out if you're a bit late on the brakes is better than hitting; with full force, whatever they're avoiding.

  • @MrSunrise-
    @MrSunrise- Před 5 měsíci +73

    You see a puff of dust indicating that someone has gone off, the car in front of you makes an evasive maneuver and then you decide to pass on the off chance that whatever he's evading won't be there when you arrive. If you'd been right it would have been an easy pass. I guess that's racing! Too bad about the car. Edit: Thanks for posting! You guys push really hard, it's way more entertaining than watching Red Bull lap the field!

      The camera is mounted on the right, driver on the left. The spun car was in his blind spot the entire time and he was reacting purely on the braking. Puff should've been a warning but it's probably also not uncommon for someone to dip a tire in the grass. Very hard to judge someone off of a simple mistake like this.

      Could be an instict reaction, green miata stepped hard-ish on the brakes, and to avoid collision he maneuvered to the right. in any case it was a split second to react, very unfortunate. RIP sweet miata(s)

    • @MrSunrise-
      @MrSunrise- Před 5 měsíci +2

      Looks like he was screened by the car ahead. The guy behind him decided to exit the track, but I don't think either of them could have seen the spin itself, only the dust. You have to either back off (hard) or guess which side to take, and these guys look seriously competitive which sort of eliminates the back off option. I wish F1 fought this hard - it would be way more entertaining.

    To begin with, was it very professional to enter the racetrack with the windshield fouled like that?
    The one that crashed was applying jerky wheel movements (_cutting nails_ trajectory), thus disturbing stability in corners (compare his stance with smooth no. 21). On the exit of his final right-hander he seems to have applied too much throttle too early for a RWD, while too much wheel grip was still busy with lateral forces, so he overdid and lost it. The typical dynamics of the accident (so typical that you see relevant scorch marks left on any track) indicated he would end up inside, so the right thing to evade was to stay on the outside (aim for the dust, the white one did this and survived). However, I can understand instinctive impulse to evade tailgating the green one. It would take a true professional to have the instinct well rooted to stay clear by not going inside where the car out of control would be. On the other hand, two long seconds lapse between the alert (sight of dust) and braking to evade the green one. A good time of reaction is 0.2-0.3 seconds. One second is very mediocre. This means you saw the smoke and did nothing for a long long time.

  • @chrislangley4670
    @chrislangley4670 Před 4 měsíci

    Did everything right. Very unlucky just to pinch the front brakes and lost steering at the critical moment, otherwise he would have missed the spun car. Bad luck, hope he's not too sore, that was a big hit.

    • @alexellis7210
      @alexellis7210 Před 4 měsíci

      you can't say he did everything right... it was caused entirely because of the brake application. if he was off the brake pedal and just steered instead, it would have been easy to avoid. only problem is training yourself to instinctively react with steering and not brake. not enough time to actually think anything through.
