This is not the best anthem ever - the anthem of RUSSIA is only slightly better than this one. Same tune, but different lyrics. some people fail to see Russia and the Soviet union as two different nations. Russia is the prequel and sequel to the Soviet union.

You could perhaps get them for free, but only when they were available, which was pretty much never. Look for example at map of Germany. Pretty much any statistic shows clear difference between east and west part, even though it's been 30 years since the downfall of communism. And none of them are in favour of the eastern part. Look at EU countries, how poor former USSR/Soviet satellites are, even though many of them have been part of EU for more than 15 years. As for free education or healthcare, you have that in most of Europe right now, without all the downsides of communism.

Sure we didn't have a private car, fancy dresses or even a TV but we had something much more than that. We had happiness, good work hours and almost no expenses. Sure there was limited food to buy but there was enough food. No one died from hunger in the streets of Moscow.

Wow! Great Red Army Choir and Orchestra with Alexander Alexandrov conducting. While in the U.S. Navy, I was able to attend the Red Army Choir performance in downtown Chicago in 1978 and meet some of the cast members afterward. I was with my Russian girlfriend Tatyana Alexandrovna at the time and her brother was a member of the Red Army Choir and Orchestra. We had about 8 American Sailors (6 guys and 2 women) who also loved the show. Great dancers and operatic singers. I do not know why but, when we were listening to this anthem, we all agreed that it really was so grand and it seemed to generate strong emotions and a sense of belonging. We all really did have a great time and ate dinner with some of the Soviet members who were about our age (between 19 and 24) and were learning English and about three people from our group, including myself, were also learning to speak, read and write Russian. Those were the good old days indeed and a different era.

@@RomanVideos1 I'm sorry, but have you actually lived in a communist country? Because from what you write I'm pretty convinced you did not. All those "free stuff" were basically just "on paper". You could perhaps get them for free, but only when they were available, which was pretty much never.
Look for example at map of Germany. Pretty much any statistic shows clear difference between east and west part, even though it's been 30 years since the downfall of communism. And none of them are in favour of the eastern part.
Look at EU countries, how poor former USSR/Soviet satellites are, even though many of them have been part of EU for more than 15 years.
As for free education or healthcare, you have that in most of Europe right now, without all the downsides of communism.
@@Pharisaeus I'm sorry but I have lived in a communist country(USSR) before. And what he said is true. My father used to earn 800 SU/month in addition to all the above benefits back in 1988. Sure we didn't have a private car, fancy dresses or even a TV but we had something much more than that. We had happiness, good work hours and almost no expenses. Sure there was limited food to buy but there was enough food. No one died from hunger in the streets of Moscow.

This is the best anthem I have ever heard. As of right now, it is my favourite anthem. I have not heard that many anthems from other countries but I do not think that any other anthem I hear will be as good as this one.

Wow! Great Red Army Choir and Orchestra with Alexander Alexandrov conducting. While in the U.S. Navy, I was able to attend the Red Army Choir performance in downtown Chicago in 1978 and meet some of the cast members afterward. I was with my Russian girlfriend Tatyana Alexandrovna at the time and her brother was a member of the Red Army Choir and Orchestra. We had about 8 American Sailors (6 guys and 2 women) who also loved the show. Great dancers and operatic singers. I do not know why but, when we were listening to this anthem, we all agreed that it really was so grand and it seemed to generate strong emotions and a sense of belonging. We all really did have a great time and ate dinner with some of the Soviet members who were about our age (between 19 and 24) and were learning English and about three people from our group, including myself, were also learning to speak, read and write Russian. Those were the good old days indeed and a different era.
