Again, great progress. I agree, numbering those lines was a great idea. Glad to hear all the helpful suggestions from our community of puzzle lovers. We're all pulling for you!!
@janspearman9310 Hi again and thanks, Yes, the puzzle community here on youtube is great and has so many good ideas, and much more puzzling experience than I do.
I love your ending line "Go put your puzzle together" you are right, it won't put itself together so I should go work on it right now lol
@Rebecca.G Yes you should go put your puzzle together!!! Hi again and thanks, john
Hey John. I messaged awhile back that I was struggling with Entering the Bedroom 6000 piece puzzle. Well, after following some of your hints and ideas, I Finished it!!!! Yay 🎉!!! I really never thought I could do it. It took me 7 months. I found that sorting, re sorting, and sorting again was the key. I am going to relax and do a few 1000 piece puzzles for awhile and on January 1st I’m going to start Educa Borras Life, The Greatest 24,000 Piece Puzzle. You are doing awesome on your puzzle. I Love your updates and seeing how far you’ve gotten. Keep them coming. You give me the determination, drive and confidence to keep up with whatever puzzle I’m struggling with. Thanks, Cathy
@user-ky9lz7vo9m Hi again Cathy, I remember you saying that you walked by it and wanted to take it apart and put it back in the box, I'm glad you kept at it. The puzzle community here on youtube is amazing and so supportive. The Life puzzle looks like a lot of fun to do with all the bright colors. Thanks for all the kind words and keep us all updated on your progress on the Life puzzle, john
I have the Life puzzle and have done one panel - colours are brilliant and it looks great. Sorting panel 2 - i don't have space to mix bags for that size puzzle but I enjoy working on them. I have Entering the Bedroom and didn't find it a very easy sort. But like John says, the key is sorting initially and then resorting as you become more familiar with the puzzle as you work on it. I have it sorted but have not brought it out again to work on yet. Congrats on finishing it. That's awesome.
@@heather6668 sorting is key. Sort, sort and re sort
You are great. I really love watching your progess. Good luck !!
@persocom4988 Hi, thanks for the kind words, and thanks for watching
Thanks for the shoutout, I am happy that my idea proved useful and practical for you (in fact you had already used it anyways, but not as a permanent numbering system).
Respect for the sky! Re-positioning all the pieces with those slight and not-so-slight color mismatches must have been difficult. It is just so pleasing to the eye, now that all colors fit. 😂
@LogicMasterSteve Hi Steve, you're welcome, that was a great idea, and made switching pieces around a lot faster. Shawna said as she was switching the last 2 sections around how much having the numbers there helped. I'm glad she took over at the end, she has younger eyes and does a lot of puzzles and is good at seeing the color differences. Yes, it does look nice with the colors in the proper places, john
Shawna did a good job! Young eyes surely help! :-)
And I have read (in a quality newspaper, but not a scientific article) that a not-so-small number of women have an additional kind of receptor cells in their eyes which are beneficial for their subjective color perception. Since having read this, I am wondering if this might be one of the reasons that there are that many women in the "puzzling sport". Women might be more talented (on average) for spotting slight color differences...
John - you da man. Took the bull by the horns (did the sky first). You are an indefatigable puzzler. My largest puzzle is 2k - and I experience the same problems as you but obviously on a much, much smaller scale. Prior to retirement you must have been an engineer or actuary or statistician - something this retired semi skilled laborer intuitively knows involves problem solving by reduction into smaller problems but the overall template is in your head. God bless.
@johnmarshall9065 Hi again and thanks, I wasn't going to try to tackle all the sky at once, I just started on it and kept going. I believe you, I have seen some tricky 2,000 piece puzzles. No, I worked at a woodshop for 35 years, out in the shop, assembling, gluing and clamping kitchen cabinet doors together. I do like figures and statistics, and believe that there is (or should be) a spreadsheet for everything, and have an abundance of useless facts filling up limited brain cells. But I like how you put it better, I'm going to go with that from now on (problem solving by reduction into smaller problems but the overall template is in your head).
Hi, John! Just learned about your build a few days ago (someone linked to vid 1 to answer the question about table size 😄). It has been fun to see 11 months of progress all at once. What an undertaking!
@aprilhussong2756, Hi, I can't believe that you stayed awake through all the videos!!! You must be a serious puzzler. I hope I answered your question, john
Hey John! I could not watch the end of November and end of December update as I had 2 very busy month and am catching up on your progress. I was actually shocked to see all these cardboards stacked on top of each other. That must have taken forever to sort. So overwhelming. I think I am not ready for such a big puzzle 😂 i also love statistics and would constantly count the number of cardboards i would have left. You and your fam and friends are doing a great job. Awesome.
Thanks also for your estimate on the number of sky pieces. 6000 in those alone is for lack of a better word crazy.
@tinkerbellarocks Hi again and thanks, Sorting didn't seem as bad this time, probably because there were half as many pieces and a lot of them were already in the right category, I just had to organize them on the cardboards. YOU CAN DO IT, YOU CAN DO IT!!!! I'm cheering you on to do a big puzzle. john
I really enjoy your monthly puzzle updates. Your dedication and attention to detail is inspiring. See you in January!
@BB-bj9hx Hi, thanks for the kind words, see you in January, john
Oooh im so happy to see you still going and making such a huge progress. Looking back at when you started and now it looks so awesome already. 🎉❤
@vinciks1 Hi again and thanks, it seems like slow progress to us, but it feels so good when different things start connecting together.
Outstanding progress! Thank you so much for sharing this adventure. It is interesting, inspiring, and humbling to learn how others problem-solve. Can't wait for next month's update. With the sky nearly done and your recent re-sort, I anticipate accelerated progress.
@tinag4262 Hi again and thanks, With the sky done for now and the pieces resorted, I hope too that we make faster progress, we'll see, john
I really like checking these monthly, great progress and very good detailed explanation of how the sky section works :)
@artokilponen6989 Hi, thanks and thanks for watching .
It’s looking great John, thanks for monthly update I really look forward to them. I think you are halfway there 🎉
@thegoodchicken1078 Hi again and thanks. I think we are halfway done also or at least very close, john
Wow, 6,000 sky pieces. Crazy! The puzzle is looking great. 😊
@LadyMystie Hi again and thanks, I multiplied it up twice because I didn't think there could be that many sky pieces, but it sure felt like it while I was working on it.
That makes a lot of sense, the technique with the rows. You have such patience, so much still to do. But also sooo much already done, awesome!
@inge6280 Hi again, thanks, yes, there is a lot to do yet but we are starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel.
as always you are an inspiration to all us puzzlers..... yes great progress I'm sure since the weather is cooler in your attic now you may get more hours in.... keep up the good work we are all cheering for you..... see you next month....
@kathylynn1375 Hi again, thanks for the kind words, it is nicer with the cooler weather, we have had the heater running a few times so far. See you next month, john
Great progress! The puzzle is coming along well
@giddingsa75 Hi, Thanks so much
❤
@mudasugo69 Hi and thanks for watching.
Love these updates!
@lizcoleman5331 Hi and thanks for watching.
hi have just watched from 1to 12 and wow it looks amazing iv got a big puzzle iv not done yet as it looks dornting but you are expring me to start my big buzzle but im still not shur got to get the confidence
@jassminhope4723 Hi, thanks for watching. Did you stay awake through all the videos? You'll do great, don't set a time deadline, just work on it when you want to, and getting other people to help can really make the time pass faster. When you decide to start it, keep me updated on your progress, john
Wow it's coming along. Love these updates
@michellepiazza7698 Hi and thanks so much.
Hey John, the months sure do fly by. It seemed only yesterday that I mixed all 7 bags together but that was 3 months ago! Thanks for the shoutout again! I’m still working on the sky and making slow but steady progress. I’m sticking to my method like you described in the video but the last 2 weeks have been very slow… not because of the puzzle, but because we have a new family member. A 12 week old Golden retriever puppy! And he is stealing almost all my puzzle time for now 😊 Then again, I never set a goal for completing so the slowing down of the last few weeks isn’t a big deal in the great scheme of things. What did John Lennon say? ‘Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans’ 😄 Great looking sky btw, I wish I was as far along as you… but I’ll get there eventually. I hope I have more puzzle related news to report next month! Keep up the good work! 👍🏻
@Maarten_Storms Thanks for the update. Time goes so fast when working on puzzles. You'll get it done, you have a good system, no hurry, take your time and enjoy it, john
Looking good!
@crazypuzzlechick Hi CPC, thanks, your puzzle piece count updates are so cool, but I bet it is a lot of work to keep track of all the pieces like that. Enjoy your month off, see you in February, john
Hi, we have been binged watching your progress. We're routing for you and the team. You'll knock this out pretty soon. Good luck on your channel, so close to the big 1k sub.
@AltogetherPuzzling Thanks and thanks so much for watching. It should go faster from here, but we'll see. Yes, almost 1,000 subs, I can't believe it.
Loving these videos!!! I’m currently working on the 40320 Disney moments puzzle. I’m half way after 7 months. I wasn’t as brave as you though and mixed all the pieces together 🫣
@gemmabelfield9929 Hi and thanks, 20,000 pieces in 7 months is some serious puzzling! I'm not sure if it gets easier or harder after half way, I guess we'll both find out. Keep me updated on your progress, john
It is looking really good especially your sky area. I think pretty soon peices will be falling into place in big sections that you all have completed.
FANTASTIC JOB. ❤
You can be proud to say you did it as a real puzzle from one big bin.....lol❤❤
Any plans after that to do another big one?
@jeancarroccino8574 Hi again and thanks, I hope you're right about the pieces soon falling right into place. Mom has already wondered what we are gong to do next, but I don't know yet. We will probably take a break, but there are some that look like fun (the 24,000 Life puzzle and the 32,000 New York city window puzzle among others) and we'll se what new big puzzles come out soon. We are still having a lot of fun working on this one, john
Looks like there will be a few big updates ahead. Now that you have everything so well sorted out, I hope you will have a few parts where you can just sit down and put something together from 1-2 cardboards. Rooting for you that it will be downhill from here!
@nilsp9426 Hi, and I hope you're right, so far it does seem to be easier to find the pieces we are looking for. I'm afraid that it might get harder after we pick out the pieces we recognize, but then we should have fewer pieces, so it might work out alright. I should have quite a few new things to show next month, john
You have come a long way. How many people are helping you 15?
@bethpalmer2720 Hi and thanks. I think there have been 12 people over so far to help on the puzzle. Mom and Dad come over 4 or 5 times a week for a few hours each day and Jake and Shawna and a friend of mine come over every 4 or 5 weeks, my sister has been over a couple of times, and everyone else has just been over once so far.
we're back.... eee my guestimate of your complition date is coming up.......Are you all still having fun with it? Keep inpiring.
@wowzieee Hi, and thanks, yes, in a month, I'll try to hurry up. Yes it is still fun, especially when we can connect different landmarks together, then it feels like real progress.
