I think people need to cut Ned some slack. Everyone is calling him "Dumb", but people forget that he lost his head because a crazy pre-teen randomly decided to chop off his head against everyone's instructions. His honor and mercy may have put him in a bad situation, but it didn't get him killed.
I agree, and also it was Ned's honor (naivety) and mercy that saw Ned die. His mercy to Cersei, to warn her to leave Kings Landing with her children to avoid Robert's wrath at her incest. He had 3 offers, one from Cersei herself, one from Petyr Baelish and one from Renley to escape while he had the chance. He essentially killed himself by not playing the game. If anyone in aristocracy is to survive, you need to have your wits about you, even in this world. Ned lingered way too long in Kings Landing after he threw in his hand of the king position...which was ill-considered, naive, dumb.
"His honor and mercy may have put him in a bad situation"
And the foolishness and vanity of his eldest daughter.
Of course it did, you aren't completely wrong though. I agree Joffrey was blood thirsty. But Ned definitively would have survived if it wasn't for his honor. The thing is honor is a big thing in this show and this represents how it can get you killed. Do you want to be honorable to your house or do you want to survive? In other words Ned represents someone who was 100% good, vs say..., evil.
Everything was Sansa's fault
Although if Lyanna Stark went willingly with Rhaegar, then her failure to reveal that fact was the direct cause of the death of her father and brother, and of all the deaths from Robert's Rebellion. No wonder Ned Stark has lived with guilt of preventable deaths when he promised to keep his sister's other secret. But yea, Sansahasn't confessed that she ratted out her father to Cersei, and I've not heard her even tell anyone that Bran was not really dead as they all thought. Never mind Catelyn or Arya, Sansa is the real Lady Stoneheart... she cold!
If dragonglass can cure greyscale that might explain why Shireen recovered from it, not impossible that whoever healed her knew some tale of it's healing properties, or hell it wouldn't be hard for her to get exposed to it just living on Dragonstone.
Jack Coxon Very interesting theory! I like it!
Very interesting theory! (Y)
Jack Coxon You should bet money on this theory lol
Actually in the books Greyscale isn't lethal to children. Shireen survived because of her age.
Somedokin I don't remember clearly of this information, but the boooks says that Stanis bring all sort of healers to Dragonstone to cure her, and someone did it. So, I agree with our fellow's theory.
it was not only main characters that died on red wedding, their whole army got murdered. and almost all of the Frey's took part in it
You make a decent point.
Ali Irfan but Arya wasn't avenging the army. She was avenging the Starks, her close family; mother, brother, and his wife plus unborn child. also Roose Bolton's army was involved with the red wedding since they changed side. So Arya would have killed them too by that standard.
THANK YOU!!!
Yassi that is true
But they still deserved it
Yeah, but they had no choice. If your Lord tells you to kill people, you kill them. You can't say "No, sorry, that's immoral". If you do that you'll be killed yourself. The men Arya killed were not responsible for orchestrating the Red Wedding, they were just henchmen.
Game of Thrones isn't officially back until the first Altshift X video is posted.
Well said Nacho Dipper!
Nacho Dipper Definitely!! 👑
Nacho Dipper been refreshing non stop lol
I've never heard such absolute truth.
No lies detected.
I'm surprised you missed the part where Sansa's hairstyle is now exactly like Cersei's... Right after she said she's learned from Cersei.... kinda scary.
Makes you wonder which aspect of Cersei's personality would be worse to see, her becoming a callous, calculating bitch or her wanting to sleep with her "brother"!
The hairstyle looks fine, though.
Margaery had that hairstyle too though at times and she wasn't the same as Cersei.
Sansa x jon ay!
Leejk
I think it's just a popular hairstyle for Ladies who live in the southern regions.
12:03 . Ah yes, the sand is indeed coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere.
it was a surprise to be sure
but a welcome one.
Euron sure did build those 1000 ships fast !
Especially considering the Iron Islands have basically no trees left on them because literally everyone else is also building ships there....
Meh, who needs practical considerations? This show has been ignoring them for years. To be fair, Euron already had a sizeable fleet though
Those ships sent goosebumps down my arms.
It's Jabo you need to get out of the house more.
Also Danny's fleet is at Dragonstone with the other Greyjoys and Euron will have to go by very close to a lot of ships with a lot of ships.
Now the season has officially begun!
My prediction.......Littlefinger will lose all 11 fingers by episode 3!
CNN Is Garbage Arya probably gonna give him a new mouth and nostrils.
We out here fam! Season 7 is gonna be epic!!!
Melomakaronaki
NOAAH! Now ithenzzzzz!
That dagger was indeed important
I miss Ned still
JTCGiantz56 I checked wiki and it said ned is in season 7, maybe a camero?
soyon manlai Most likely a flashback
JTCGiantz56 he's not dead
Gaddus He had his head chopped off and put on a spike. It's safe to say he's dead.
+soyon manlai So Ned's coming back in a bitchin' car?! All my YES! Driving over zombies is the BEST!!!!! :D
"John mostly learned from his uncle Ned
Who is a great bloke, but lost his head"
Not sure if intentional rhyming at 4:40
*Jon. Sorry but I can't fucking stand it when they misspell his name.
Jon's not that naive. He's already been betrayed and killed once. Also, he learned a lot from Mance Rayder. Sanza is underestimating Jon
He is worse than Rob and Ned together. Ned was more just, and was punsihing treason, unwillingly but still did. Jon is doing otherwise.(even tho he was betrayed ALOT in the past). Ned was also listening to advice, while Jon refuses. Rob was amazing strategist, Jon is shit at strategy, without knights of the Vale he would be dead for certain, cause he made a battle plan but didn't stick by it, and made his entire army attack first while outnumbered. It is sad how blinded by Jon people are, he is a good guy, and his heart is on the right spot - but he's a moron.
He also learned from Jeor Mormont. Not to mention that he himself was Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, and though the Wall isn't King's Landing, it is not without it's intrigues. Jon learned that the hard way
Ounouh bars
I don't think that Cersei meant Tommen "betrayed her" by going over to the faith. She was still trying to protect him and be with him that whole time. I think the "betrayal" she's referring to was actually just the act of his suicide in general. Cersei was trying to control and protect Tommen, and to her his choosing to die was a personal slight - which shows how absolutely nutters she is.
I feel the betrayal she's talking about was changing the law so that trials could no longer be decided by combat. This was essentially ensuring that Cersei would be found guilty or at least she wouldn't get off scot-free.
Yes, I agree with you. When Cersei said she was betrayed by him I thought she was referring to him taking his own life and leaving her behind.and I still think thats what she meant.
I think it was the walk of shame. He didn't try to stop it through every means necessary. She could never forgive him for that. When he finally comes to her and says he is weak you can see her demeanor was cold to him.
Also, he went to the high sparrow to stop Margeory's walk of shame but did not do that for Cersei.
I agree. She was talking about the suicide. Or was she? Perhaps I'll have to rewatch that scene.
Littlefinger's character may have suffered the most from the lack of new book material, they don't appear to know what to do with him, they're making him seem 2nd rate.
I heard that, sad. They had Stannis go out like a chump too.
Also, Shireen's greyscale was cured, and she happened to live in Dragonstone, which has a lot of obsidian. There's probably a correlation there.
There is a correlation, the question is if there is also a causality^^
0:50 They most likely didn't participate in the Red Wedding, but when Arya mentions it in the monologue she delivers wearing Walder's face, they cheered it on. They still supported it even if they had nothing to do with the act itself, making them worthy of her revenge from Arya's point of view. The point you brought up with the Lannister soldiers is very valid, though.
There also were some guys with Crossbows in the Red Wedding and other guys who killed the Starks. I think even with them not planning the thing, they all participated so their death is deserved.
N1c3s how? If they refused to participate they'd be killed too
Truedatas I bet you think Joffrey and Ramsay were alright guys don't you
Bryan Rue it's funny how liberal and sjw scum are trying to justify red wedding in the comments
4OTKO Yeah, let's bring (real world) politics into this. 😂
on topic: sometimes the people dont have a choice. people cheered when walder talked about killing Starks, but what were they supposed to do? boo at him? It contrasts with the scene with the Lannister soliders, which showed Arya that there are decent people even if they are fighting for those she considers enemies.
i feel the reason cersei was so unemotional towards tommens death is not that she felt betrayed although that is a part of it, but more that she had come to except maggys prophecy to an extent she felt his death was inevitable and had now prepared herself fully for that eventuality, therefore she shows less outward emotion than to the deaths of joffrey and myrcella
It's just a coping mechanism
ris94 jo in season 6 after mycellas death and after she asks tommen the colour of the shroud she was put in (gold like the prophecy) her body language towards tommen changes, suggesting she has almost completely accepted the idea that he will die, in season 5 and before she is far more protective and caring of him
go back and watch scenes with cersei and tommen in s5 and compare to s6, her behaviour towards him is so different even previous to his betrayal, the purpose of scenes like when she asks tommen the shroud colour for mycella is to demonstrate further how convinced she has become that the prophecy will be true and is inevitable, she even says to jamie in episode 1 "it was prophecy you couldn't have stopped it", this again shows why there is a change in her behaviour to tommen, im not saying the betrayal isnt also a contributing factor but this is the main reason she was so unfazed
A mother, a good or bad one, doesn't suddenly hate her son if he "betrays" her. Cersei is just trying to not show weakness.
ris94 jo she's lost everyone and everything....
SHE DOESN'T HAVE ANY EMOTIONS!
...THANK YOU for all your hard work. I rarely comment on videos but every time I get a notification from your channel, I instantly click. As a novice video editor, I can only imagine the layers and layers and lines of editing in each video that you do. Thank you so much for putting so much detail and carefully crafting each scene. I hope you get a million subs soon, you deserve it.
But he is wrong about the justice of Arya's actions. The people she poisoned are senior Freys - bannermen and knights. She personally decided on who was invited - she says so.
She hasn't killed every Frey who took part in the Red Wedding, there just aren't enough here. But we can be sure that every one poisoned took part in the Red Wedding. Thus not only are they guilty of murder, but also sacrilege - murder after giving bread and salt. Unless this is avenged, their society's restraints on wanton killing will break down. So what she does is not only excusable, but necessary.
After the Red Wedding, justice requires that all who took part in it pay the penalty of death, as a warning to all others. Arya just happened to be the person who carried it out.
+Mike M Totaly agree
Mike M I understand what you're don't. But I think the point he was making, from what I understood, was merely that the Freys that she did kill weren't necessarily responsible for the Red Wedding. They were largely soldiers following orders, like the Lannisters she came across. If not for the 4 or 5 main players he highlighted, there'd be no Red Wedding... So it seems she "gathered every Frey that means a damn thing" for straight up revenge. I obv could be wrong that's just how I took it tho.
I doubt there were any mere soldiers in that hall, or even knights. I expect they were all of Bannerman status or higher.
Walder Frey assembled enough troops at the Twins to wipe out the remaining Stark and Tully forces. The books say he had 4,000 men there, which is plausible. House Frey was a minor house, but a large one, like the Boltons - they had three vassal houses of their own, as well as many bannermen.
Note also that "Walder" says he has gathered them to tell them his plans - that only made sense because these were all people of rank.
There seems to be 40-50 people at most in the hall, and all loudly cheering the treachery against the Starks - these were leaders and organizers. They had known the plan, and had known they were killling them after giving bread and salt. Death is the most they can hope for, by the customs of Westeros.
This channel is awesome you're right. Check out Nerd Soup though! I can't decide between them and this channel.
Who else has just been eagerly waiting for Alt's vids for this season??
There are countless GAME OF THRONES recaps, reviews and analyses out there, but Alt Shift X does the best that I know of. (If you're here I guess you already know that.)
yeah watching others is like an appetizer while we wait for that Alt Shift X main course
Alt Shift X and also New Rockstars are all you need.
Alt Shift X and New Rockstars and Emergency Awesome are all great. I love their stuff. Love their voices and accent (since I'm not a native English speaker, I really appreciate when these guys talk very clearly and at a nice pace.)
I agree. I like alt shift x and emerg awesome the best. new rockstars not bad either although I don't watch it regularly. all the other stuff are spam
Arya kills, Cersei plots, Starks disagree, Daeny arrives. Roll credits.
"And sand is rough and coarse" did he... did he just *meme*.
...and irritating.
That's preposterous! Alt Shift X wouldn't sink so low as to meme in the middle of an episode!
and it gets everywhere ;)
It gets everywhere
Lol I was looking for this comment
I feel dirty correcting Alt Shift X on anything, but as a medical student I feel obliged. Isn't Sam weighing a cirrhotic liver with regenerative nodules, and not a brain? I believe I heard the Maester who performed the autopsy talked about an alcoholic liver which showed pronounced damage.
Martin Petersen it was a liver, unless people have brains in the stomach area...
There was two seperate weighings. First a liver and then the heart
+Martin Petersen "Brain" rhymes with "weigh", though 😉
Give the man some artistic freedom!
no it doesn't
Thoros of Myr and The Lightning Lord will fall in battle, and the Hound will pick up the flaming sword, which will glow brighter than never before, thus making us realize he's actually Azor Ahai. It will be poetic, with his burnt face and all. 🔥🔥🐶🔥🔥
All hail the #hotdog 🌭!
"Winter has come for house Frey". Best line I've heard yet
These kind of videos make Game of Thrones for me, thank you for all the effort you put into these
I read an article about Mental Illness in Game of Thrones and it is suggested that Cersei has Borderline Personality Disorder and I would kind of agree with it (I actually suffer from it). She displays obvious symptoms. One major one I saw in this episode was her and Jaime arguing over Tommen and she says that Tommen had abandoned her, people with BPD their one biggest fear is being abandoned and it would explain her reaction upon seeing his dead body. She doesn't realize how her actions affected him and she puts the blame on him by saying he abandoned her. Thinking about it, I would have reacted the same way.
But also it was about the fact that the last time she saw Tommen, he was announcing that he was putting an end to trial by combat, which he knew was her ace in the hole. So she did feel betrayed by him. Not enough to want him dead, but enough that she didn't feel as mournful about him as maybe she once would have. Although I'm sure she thought after she got rid of Margaery and the rest of the Faith, that he would be her little boy to control again. Instead, he took that possibility away from her too by killing himself.
She got what she wanted, in the end, either way (minutes before Tommen died) She got over it because she was able to take care of it herself. Tommen was still her son, the son she was prepared to die WITH when Stannis almost took Kings Landing. She cared so much more than she shows. People like us, putting on a mask to the outside world is how we survive, we are sensitive and unstable. With her, she grew up in this system where she had to wear her mask every moment of every day. I don't know what it is like to lose a son or a close family member due to my scheming. but I think it really did hurt her. What we show on the outside is deceiving, we are extremely good at manipulating (because we feel we have to and it's a coping mechanism, it makes us feel we have some power), and we need to feel important to people and in some way admired so when Tommen died, from the look on her face you could tell that it was tearing her up inside but she had to show the people around her that she was strong like steel.
you have a personality disorder and like anime... who could have guessed
imo you guys make the only GOT episodes reviews that are worth watching. You don't just recite what happened, you analyse, explain and add a very useful flashback to previous events. ♡
A funny smart thing in that episode was Cersei confronting Euron for killing his brother Balon although she has dreamed to do the same with Tyrion during her entire life lol.
12:05 " It doesn't make sense that this castle is abandoned"
*[Two guards on top of the battlements look at Daenerys' fleet out to the sea]*
Guard 1: "Dude, are those fucking dragons flying around those ships?"
Guard 2: "They're certainly not birds, that's for sure; they're too big and screeching like banshees. Should we alert the other guards?"
Guard 1: "Alert for what? To stand and fight?!"
Guard 2: "Fuck no, are you serious? Alert them to get the fuck out of here. I don't want to die for Stannis, he's been gone for months, I just want to go home, fuck my wife, kiss my kids goodnight, stock my food for winter, and *not* die!"
It looked like it was abondon for a long time.
His point is,why didnt the crown re-take the castle? Dragonstone is one of the most important castles in the realm, cersei also apparently knew dany was going there,so why not set a trap?
I love all these corny conversations that never happened in every GOT vid.
Victorkill That's exactly what I think .Not to mention the underground dragonglass deposits.
maybe when they heard of Stannis' recent fuck up and the coming winter they decided farming potatoes would be the smart thing to do.
He fucking called the knife being important in 2017, I mean we all kinda knew but still he basically said it outright
I look forward to these recaps almost as most as the episodes!! You do a fantastic job!!
Alt shit x and ozzy man reviews are the only game of thrones reviews I care about
Ryan Craig Lol same
Plebs, Preston Jacobs is the only patrician Asoiaf CZcamsr
shift ;-)
Though the one that actually gives some information for any fan that isn't brain dead is Preston Jacobs though, but I'm not judging.. If you don't see how the show is being butchered by plebs and the creators attempts to speak more to a wider, dumber audience, Preston Jacobs videos might not be for you and this shite probably good.
You should check out Preston Jacobs, he's easily the best ASOIAF CZcamsr out there.
I am pretty sure, Clegane meant a mountain, shaped like an arrowhead. Since maps indicate, the landscape around Eastwatch is rather flat - except the wall obviously- , could there be a second attack at the Shadow Tower?
And yes, he could also foreshadow a meeting with his dear brother.
J. Hardegen Or at the sea, downstream from the Shadow Tower, while Jon has the wildlings protecting Eastwatch at the other end of the wall.
Thank you for taking your time in making this video. And not rushing to be there first to review it. Great video
This was a pretty fair assessment, great job! Really ? not even a shoutout for old Symon silver tongue. Tyrion carries that guy in his head for 3 books, singers stew anyone?
HBO should provide episode copies in advance to Alt Shift X so he can post a new video right after the episode airs
Or you know, just wait. HBO is risking so much by giving anyone an earlier copy of the series
And then they'll have authority to tell him what to say and probably contract will force him to do some advertising and stuff, and the channel will quickly become shit, seen that before. also HBO clearly have nothing to gain from it
control Ur stupid fanboy mate , to be honest he just recapped the episode and mentioned some little things that we didn't noticed that's all
his speculation videos are better
eighthelement Brother? Is that you?
Thank you for adding 12 minutes to every episode..
Though it kinda feels like a "pretend you figured this out yourself" service. You know, like those book summaries that exist for people who do not actually read books but want to appear educated.
You're Chanel truly stands out. Thanks for hard work putting into this, informing, entertaining, and most importantly educating us.
As I only started watching game of thrones 2 weeks ago and I have been binge watching , I have appreciated your videos so much as things that I missed when watching I have pick up from your channel !! You are amazing man ! Keep up the hard work.
"The white walkers aren't just frosty blokes who like the cold and dark, they bring the cold and dark, they kind of... are cold and dark. They ARE WINTER."
love it
Yeah it's very confusing to me as to why Dragonstone is abandoned. There were way more people that lived there than just Stannis and his family. It is also an important defensive stronghold, and Cersei knew Danny would likely go there first.. So why not station a garrison there? The place looks like it would be nearly impossible to assault, and it would have slowed Danny down a great deal.
I guess there wasn't enough budget for a battle in Dragonstone, so they just skipped that part. Won't be so easy in the books I'm guessing.
poor writing my friend.
Come on, I would never believe Game of Thrones didn't get enough budget. It is HBO's highest rated and most acclaimed show, they'd dish out whatever they needed to in order to film what the writers/directors wanted. I agree, it seems to me it's more like they got lazy and didn't want to spend time showing it so they skipped past it.
Zeruss01
You're right offcourse, however it would have been nice to have at least some mention of an offscreen skirmish or some other reason the defending garrison was absent or fled. Perhaps intimidated by the dragons and the enormous fleet plus the lack of supplies ever since Stannis's departure. Or the defending garrisons being present but betraying cersei for the targaeryen army.
I saw it as, winter is upon them and it would be a huge undertaking to man a castle that size plus stock it with provisions to last etc,
Good catch about the dragonglass cure. I don't think I've seen anyone else mention that yet.
Really good videos! You're the only I can stand listening to. The ideas, the images, the structure and mostly your voice are interesting and mature. Congrats!!!
I think Eurons gift to Cersei is going to be Ellaria Sand in chains!
We both saw the image spoiler didn't we? Tyrion is too secured on Dragonstone to be captured by Euron.
iChinnyAce A bit kinky, but this is GoT...
iChinnyAce FACTS
It’s going to be a horn that controls dragons, just sayin....
wasn't there a scene with ships attacking old town...
Stannis describes Dragonstone as barren and far away from everything. Maybe the location alone makes the castle more of a burden than a reward.
Morten Larsen and he was there, eating onions... Holding it for his dear brother...
Sosirée Casalderrey uhm I think you're referring to Storm' End not Dragonstone
Dragonstone is designed to be good location for an invasion.
this was a nice crisp review.. loved it
Your videos are so enriching (is that a word?). As usual, thank you very much.
Alt Shift KING
Wolverine
Alt-Shift Rex...?
Thanks so much for your review/summary of this episode. Seems that there is still one guy left who can review the show without finding everything awesome, nor shitting all over every scene and is just able to review the show for what it is and criticize it when necessary, without sounding annoyed when it doesn't measure up to the books. Thanks again.
What an amazing analysis of the first scene. Never thought about questioning violence when Arya poisons the Frey army. GoT certainly is too deep and not superficial in showing characters. Thanks to you for bringing it to our notice. 🤘🏼
great video as always bro. big props my dude.
When alt shift begins uploading you know it's time for game of thrones.
Omg the blue eye of the one eyed giant...
... maybe we do.
Been waiting for Alt Shift. Always has the most insightful views and usually the more correct theories and guesses so far.
Bro, you explain shit so well. Keep up the awesome work. There is no one better than you at doing recaps and explanations.
"Do these people really deserve it?" Yes, absolutely. Did you forgot that opening scene in the episode after the red wedding, where Roose is watching the absolute slaughter of Stark men? Those soldiers cut off Grey Winds head and stuck it on Robb and paraded him through the streets. That whole scene made me sick. So yeah, I'm good with Arya getting her vengeance on the Freys.
Agreed. Walder, Tywin, and Roose did not slaughter the entire Stark army by themselves. Everyone in that room cheered for killing their guests at the wedding.
I am sure not every soldier was involved in the red wedding. And some didnt had a option to not obey their orders because they would have been killed.
You're right, but all of the armies took part in the slaughter. Watch the opening of the episode after The Red Wedding, Roose looks out over an enormous burning garrison, it's like a city on fire. What's worse is that the Freys broke guest rites. He allowed the starks to break bread and salt inside his house, then betrayed them. That's some seriously bad karma. The Freys have had this coming for a long time, it's ridiculous to me we're being asked to sympathize.
Are all Lannisters bad? The obvious answer contradicts what you just said. We have no idea what happens behind closed doors, and even one good Frey that we never knew still means that not all Freys were bad. No group in the the series is simply black or white. While we root for Arya because she is a fan favorite and a main character, she did just purge all of the men in a group of people.
I get the point you're trying to make, but we have never been shown the Freys acting as anything but the absolute worst. The books take the Frey massacre another way with the Frey Pie, and it's treated as something hilarious and to be celebrated. I mean, as if the Freys weren't bad enough we also spent nearly all of the last season with them trying to take back a castle from the Blackfish, and we get to see how they've tortured and broken Edmure in the years/months since The Red Wedding. This isn't like the situation with Jaime, where we see both good and bad, the Freys have been like the Boltons, a universally evil and hated group. You're not supposed to feel bad when Ramsay dies either.
was waiting for this so long. Love you dude
The episode was released 2 days ago, you weren't waiting that long.
Kodlaken I think he meant the episode itself man
I love how you explained the Ed Sheeran scene as showing the contrast between Arya's vengeance and showing mercy and compassion- this was the first explanation of the scene that made sense to me, as before I really didn't not realize why the hell it was included in the episode at all!
As always, a great review of an episode. Alt Shift X is without a doubt, the best GOT resource on CZcams.
I have never clicked a video this fast! :D
Same, I was in the middle of a different video lmao
exactly!!
I was ready 😂😂😂
Sorenzie I've never tapped a video so hard :))))
LMAO.. I have to agree. I got a notification on my phone.. I have been waiting. What are we going to do when this show ends :(
I'm so happy we're getting weekly Alt-Shift-X videos again!
always love to see and enjoy the visual recaps of the recent episodes. keep them coming. thanks from China.
thanks guys for these videos! You put so much effort in these. I really like watching it and there are always some really cool facts.
The North Remembers
Piotr Kostrubiec But they didn't
They are a forgetful lot for how much they say they remember. Also, they're all pretty much dead. Almost all of them died with Rob, then the rest died either for Jon or for Ramsay. I don't think there are many Northerners left to remember anything any more.
I thought the mountains helmet looked kinda like a arrow head...
Really? I thought it looked like a medieval Darth Vader helmet.
looked like the head of something..
"What do you see?"
"A mountain."
"What do you hear?"
"Air horns."
come on now be reasonable we don't talk about phalluses here in the youtube comments
Get hype
Dear alt shift x.
Thanks for these videos. I enjoy them almost as much as watching the show and reading the books.
You must have done great in book reviews and film reviews back in school. Keep up the great work.
Good video. Very informative recap. Thanks for posting.
Waited this more than the episode
You'd think during that wait you'd have learned basic spelling and grammer
I are did
TickTak77 you'd think you'd spell grammar right when criticizing someone else for the same thing
VOLA!
Grammar*
I love alt shift x so fucking much, he's the exact example of quality over quantity.
you have the best way to explain the episodes
That fierce "BROUGHT" at 2:27 was delicious to listen to.
You know you're obsessed when you had a feeling you alt X was going to upload today
Alt Shift is pure gold.
Excellent and clever analysis as usual! Truly innovative approach. Glad you're back at GOT reviews!!
Glad your back, looking forward to these videos!
This episode had a LOT of anti-war undertones.....
Arya sympathizing with the Lannister soldiers who express missing their families, realizing that not everyone on the other side is an enemy. Jon knowing that forgiveness of Houses Umber and Karstark was important for the long term picture in confronting the more dangerous, looming threat (White Walkers). And finally, The Hound showing guilt and remorse for his treatment of the father farm hand and his young daughter. It was humbling to see how this story takes a toll on the small folk, especially.
Parisa Muller It's in A Feast of Crows where the readers see the pov of soldiers and how they are simply fighting someone elses war which is really interesting. Brienne's chapters to be specific.
I feel like anti-war is the wrong word for it. Maybe, internal conflict, might be a better phrase.
I thought it was an interesting parallel when Jon tells Sansa that he won't punish children for their fathers' sins, that's exactly what Arya did in the beginning of the episode, she killed absolutely everyone, just because of what their lord did, despite the fact everyone responsible for the Red Wedding was already dead.
Also another thing is, there's no way that was Wun Wun in the beginning, because he died at Winterfell, and Jon's been there the whole time, so obviously the walkers couldn't have come and claimed the dead. They've likely all been burned already.
more than the few freys took part in the murdering at the red wedding.,..
also kind of ironic because Jon and Sansa are kind of punished because of Ned speaking up against Cersei
Deathshuck Pretty sure more then four people took part in the red wedding
Actually you're wrong, Arya did kill those men during the feast BUT she keeps Walder Frey's wife (the young girl) from drinking the wine that would've killed her by saying "this wines too good to waste on you" keeping her from drinking it and thus saving her life while killing everyone else, doing exactly what Jon Snow did in a sense.
Exactly. And the Frey men were IN on the murders at the Red Wedding. They were a part of the sins of their father(s), so...down they all go.
as always, another great episode. I'm soooooo stoked for this season, and will be waiting for more info from you.
"It's course, rough, irritating, and it gets everywhere." Lol. Love the reference and your work is stellar.
Why was the stag and Sept of Baelor in the intro?
Cersei is still legally a Baratheon via marriage, even if she still carries the Lannister name. So, I guess it's either because of that, or because her reign won't be a very long one, so there's no point of changing it to a lion.
because they probably gave up on the show
logic and sense was abandoned a long time ago
Isabel Erroa actually cersei isn't a Baratheon. You cannot marry into the royal family so she never took the last name Baratheon, and she remained a Lannister after marriage. This is why everyone still refers to her as Cersei Lannister
And yet Catelyn is called Catelyn Stark and Lysa is Lysa Arryn. I guess it depends between North/South or just one's will.
I hope Alt Shift X would cover this. I was surprised as well. When Winterfell was in ruins and changed hands to Bolton, they changed the animation for it. But no change for King's Landing when it's clear now that the Lannisters are in charge there.
Perhaps the practical reason is that they don't have the time or resources to change the animation. But this doesn't make sense. Surely if they have budget to animate dragons and undead, changing the sigil in the animation is a piece of cake.
I was looking forward to the change to the lion sigil.
Thank you all for your hard work! I love these videos as much as the show!
Thank you for all the amazing work!
Yo mah boi! Great video as always and good to have this reviews back.
Talking about Euron, it would really great if you ever do a video about him and the Eldrich Apocalypse theory of Poor Quentyn.
Jaime still loves Tyrion. You can see it on his face
Awesome you could make the video so fast!
You must have worked night and day to deliver it so short after the Ep. 1 premiere.
He could've worked six
Great vid mate! Keep you the good work.
you know you have a good youtube channel when your videos make up about 12% of game of thrones anticipation and hype. like unofficial bonus DvD content.
Why is dragon stone abandoned?
Did the common people who were left behind by Stannis abandon the castle when they heard of the dragons arriving? Is that why there were still flames burning in the hallways? Why didn't Cercei or Jaime send at least some troups to check out the dragon queen or at least try to prevent her from getting that great strategical castle in the east. Do they really have that little of an army? It's strange. Did the show writers just... not want to produce fight scenes to not drag out the story?
I think that the garrison saw her fleet coming, and decided to make themselves scarce in case she wasn't accepting surrenders.
It is here.. O.O
Your videos are awesome man, keep it up
Thanks man, as always, great explanation.
Damn, how much I missed your explanations!
This is the official start of season 7
By far my favorite GOT channel. Thank you good sir
I like how they basically combined lem lemoncloak and the hound on the show since lem did take his helmet in the books. Great video as always.
Why does everyone seem to think Arya kills indiscriminately? I can't think of one time when she killed someone who hadn't done something incredibly awful or in self defense. She left the faceless men because she isn't just a cold blooded killer. All the Frey's in the room were cheering for themselves in reference to the red wedding. Maybe she does needs to rein it in a bit, but she made sure that none of the women drank. I feel like the Lannister soldier scene had a lot more to do with reminding her that some people are just following orders, but there was more emphasis on family, being sick of war and wanting to go home. Family before vengeance so to speak.
Ehawee Schmetterling I know right? Everyone saying that Arya became a remorseless killer and I'm like wtf? She couldn't even kill that Cersei actress last season. She never killed anyone who didn't wrong her. There are many people in Westeros who are far worse than she is.
She killed the guard at harrenhal and the boy at the stables I think its only in the books
the hound seeing a mountain. i like where this is going!
this is amazing. Thank you so much!
Haven't had a chance to watch the episode yet, but I saw you posted this video today. So I just have to watch the episode now so I can watch your explanation. Welcome back GoT.
