- Baltic nations are worried after a draft Russian decree proposed revising its borders in the Baltic Sea. The draft decree would reportedly see Russia claiming as its territories that belong to Finland and Lithuania. Although there is no confirmation of any such plans from Moscow, Russia's recent nuclear drills near Ukraine have worried NATO veterans who say that Putin has his eyes set on capturing a key island in the Baltic Sea.

So does Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, and Sweden. Eastern Europe remembers what the USSR did to their countries from both world wars, they don't intend to let Russia conquer them all over again.

I'm from Sweden and it was obvious already before 2022 how keen the Americans were to be able to one day build a NATO naval base on Gotland - they view it as the Malta of the Baltic Sea, sort of. Unfortunately the US no longer accepts the presence of neutral or non-aligned buffer states on the map: they want to have everybody pulled inside their client/supporter states club. I absolutely don't want to have several countries around the Baltic SEa dragged into a major war by some reckless figure like Kaja Kallas, backed by the USA.

Why was the USA so successful during the Cold War?

I just heard PUTIN speak on NATO and after hearing him he made some very VALID points. So with having a better understanding of the ENTIRE problem I take back ALL of my previous comments ( below ) He is simply asking to STOP expanding on it's borders and he asked how would the U.S. people feel if he expanded in MEXICO and Canada ( food for thought )
NATO will never make a nuclear preemptive attack. NATO will never make a non-nuclear preemptive attack. However, if Russia crosses the NATO line, Russia will deal with more than it can handle. It won't be pretty for Russia. I hope the Russian leadership has the wisdom to make that conclusion.

I am from Lithuania. With the saying NATO, if one is attacked, all are attacked is not correct. In the documents of NATO it is written each country will make a decision to help other country according to the global situation, each country can choose not to help other countries, so useless NATO, so my country is not 100% protected if attack happens

Does Article 5 also mean that an attack by one of NATO members will drag the others?
Sometimes ago I ask the same question and I think if at anytime a NATO member provoke another country and a war started between them I don't think other NATO members should attack that country , I think that the NATO allies should immediately called on that NATO member to desist from continuing it hostile action against that country.
