I believe him when he says he’s not a bad guy. He truly believes he’s the good guy of the story where as butcher and Homelander know exactly where they stand at the end of season 3. Soldier boy needs to come back.
I believe him too. While being ruthless and merciless he still obeys to some values. He killed MMs family by accident when actually fighting crime(this doesn't excuse him, just shows us that he is not racist prick abusing his power and going out of his way to prey on blacks). I would love to have some flashbacks showing us that he actually DID fight during wars and has PTSD not only from russian torturing him but also from withstanding focused gunfire, tank shots and artillery hits while leading his men into battlefield against Nazis. That would warrant his contempt towards weakness.
*I mean I believe that he is not purely evil. 😅
Well it's like what the Legend said, that to be American is to know you're the hero. There's no one more American than Soldier Boy.
Agreed man he is actually better than the boys
I want to see Soldier Boy vs Captain America! Who yawl got?!? SB 7/10 tuff fights!
S.B.'s Nuke annihilates Steve Rogers if Jensen gets the Nuke charged up.
He's a man of his word, never backed down, he could have easily defeated everyone by teaming up homelander
@Francisco Leyva Martin when SB grabbed Homelander by face Homelander couldnt even move and begged him to not kill him so i wouldnt say that so easily and surely
@@dzemilmehovic5271 In herogasm HL got the better of SB before he got jumped by Butcher and Hughie. When HL didn't defend himself in the finale, its because he hoped that SB would change his mind at the last second and not go through with it. HL wanted so badly for him and SB to be a family that he would have let SB kill him. That is why SB called him weak, not because of his physical strength, but because of his desperation for love
@@rebootxd6012 they also said that after each blast soldier boy is in a weakened state so pre nut SB was good to beat him
@Francisco Leyva MartinMaeve did not beat homelander. Homelander was holding back while she was going all out.
@Francisco Leyva Martin he lost twice
"Maybe if I raised you, I would have made you better." "Weak? I'm you?" "I know, your a fucking disappointment.." the hurt is real
The bit I love about that last line, is that it’s not just him saying he’s disappointed that Homelander is weak, but he's disappointed that his son turned out like him, and not better. It hints at Soldier Boy's disappointment in himself, and how he turned out.
you forgot the part where he call him a swiveling little P lol
Soldier boy is dissapointed at who he is and wanted Homelander to be better than him.
@@Thrans2311 I will have to disagree with you on this. SB is an asshole. He projected toxic masculinity and called his son a wimp for being desperate for love.
@@Thrans2311 Almost every man's dream is that his son will grow to become a better man than his father. I guess it comes from life's experience and the sum of mistakes we make that paint a picture of how things could be done better and that our sons are a second chance.
Soldier boy was the lesser of two evils here. He never thought about taking over the planet. But Homelander? Oh he's thought about it alright. He even told starlight exactly how he would take down all critical infrastructure and kill everyone. Soldier boy is bad but Homelander is straight up evil.
I don't even view Soldier boy as bad. Crude, maybe. Homelander is one wrong word away from ending humanity.
They're not even on the same scale.
@@KineticSymphony Whats hilarious is that if this chain of scum evolution continues, this mean Ryan will be even *more evil* than Homelander.
He did smile during the rally after Homelander merc’d a guy and everyone started cheering.
@@KineticSymphony You don't view the guy that abused his team mates to the point that not a single one objected to his capture apart from his teen sidekick who he regularly physically abused. He is Homelander, the only difference is that he used to b more stable, emphasis on used to
He bullied the other supes to toughen them up.
He had a reason for doing it.
Soldier boy isn’t the bad guy, he has his demons for sure, but he doesn’t go out of his way to kill innocents.
The people he killed all wronged him in some way.
And he mercy killed the priest and nun because he said they were programmed permanently to fulfill their mission and their minds only exist for that purpose now. (Which I believe)
And then you can tell he was programmed by the Russians to blast when certain music was playing…
So, he is redeemable.
@@ProjectGrandMarauder didn't he kill MM's family though?
Jensen Ackles crushed it in this role. Soldier Boy is officially iconic. I love tht SB is weak in the comics, but Jensen said "Nah, I'll do this."
kripke has some credit and I suppose they waited a bit for it to be a hit. But it is sort of Jack Nicholson-esque (when he played the joker when batman was still supposedly for kids).
Soldier Boy might end up being this generations Rorschach, created to be hated, ends up being loved simply because he's true to himself.
true, what both have in common and what makes them so lovable is precisely how uncompromising they are, only characters with unbreakable convictions

This edit is amazing, it truly shows the real Soldier Boy. Jensen Ackles portrayed him in the best way possibile; one of the reasons I am a fan of Soldier Boy is Ackles' acting. But even though I know what Soldier Boy did, I still think he's better than Homelander
I mean, I agree, but you've set the bar really low there.
I believe that while ruthless he also really is not purely evil.
He killed MMs family by accident when actually fighting crime(this doesn't excuse him, just shows us that he is not racist prick abusing his power and going out of his way to prey on blacks). He chose to be asshole, Homelander never have a chance to be a normal human being. HE is the worst. The crew abandoned him cos he's a demon. You all just f**ing Jensen simps. At least Homie is better father than this dissapointment.
That's not very dificult.
In the end Soldier Boy was one of the only truly honest and transparent characters. He never hid his intentions, he stayed true to his word and honored the deal he and Butcher made, only to end up getting betrayed. He doesn’t seem like all that bad a guy, and once he opened up about his father you understood him more. He even went as far as to tell Homelander that he was just like him, weak and a disappointment, and that he wished he could’ve raised him to be better than he was. He admitted that most of his accomplishments and feats surrounding his legend were just lies cooked up by Vought’s marketing. I think Soldier Boy is kind of like how we viewed Butcher in Season 1, may seem scummy on the outside, but deep down are not actually bad people, just misunderstood. He carried this season, most entertaining character by far. Hope they bring him back.
Bro did your TV break down while Noir's flashback was playing or what
I mean he lied about dday
@@Umbra2079 It didn't land because it only showed him going tough on his team during training. Meanwhile you have other supes like A-Train murdering people, the Deep harassing women in terrible ways, and homelander being homelander. Even the whole thing with SB being racist never stuck because he defended middle eastern people and said he admired Bill Cosby and shared drinks with him. At no point in the show did we ever see Soldier Boy mistreat anyone other than from Black Noir's flash back. We saw him hit Hughie and Ryan, but it never escalated to anything that would be considered excessive or abuse. If anything, Soldier Boy stood out as a character who escaped 40 years of torture from the Russians and wanted answers and revenge, all while suffering from PTSD and adjusting to modern times. As far as we know that flashback from Noir could have been the only time, he done something like that. It's not like with homelander where he's a ticking time bomb that could lose it at any moment.
@@jamesobrin7898 that's true they purposely made him likeable because they are going to use him again at one point, maybe in the finale

I feel like we were robbed of the story between Noir and Soldier Boy. Honestly there should’ve been a conflict that should’ve last a lot more then one episode. Multiple fights, multiple arguments, multiple confrontations.
personally i think the subtlty of the whole plot line works better tbh, Noir is a very understated character so a full blown shouting match would feel very out of character. plus im betting on them bringing him back for season 4 in a way similar to deadpool in xmen origins, given that we dont see what happens to his body and other characters in the show have survived arguably worse

Saying this like he won’t be in S4
If mueve survived sb survived bro
True, everyone either wanted to use him or saw him as a trouble, as Grace said, girls either humoured him or scared of him
But consider how he talked (motel scene with hughie, bar scene with butcher), most of the time he was the only one talking, and refuse to respond / answer, also the conversation always ended-up expressing anger, self-pity or grief... made him hardly a likable person
Even though I find him pretty funny but this man carried so much pain, I understand him refused to communicate part of reason why is to not leash out the tremendous pain
But you always need to find a suitable person to talk
Like typical guy, fuck everyone never understand me, fuck them, do not care my feelings my need
Better learn from his mistake
Because in their minds he was nothing but a fake; nothing about him was real except the pain and fear he spread around him, even to his own teammates. They saw him as a hypocrite and therefore everything he said, no matter how honest, was hypocritical and selfish.
How can you prove to be honest to others when you are not even honest with yourself?
@@white0thunderwhite0thunder71 they were all the fakes. He was the genuine deal.
Jensen Ackles's portrayal of SB was phenomenal in this season, effective to such an extent that it swayed my attention from Anthony Star's performance who clearly used to steal the show from everyone in The Boys previously. I want more of SB and HL next season. It would be so bloody Shakespearean!
Though I did enjoy Soldier Boy, Homelander was still a beast. My eyes were always on him when he was on screen. Never swayed a moment. Jensen can really sell a fight, but I could rewatch Anthony's expression for hours. Every little twitch of his face tells another story and sells another emotion.

@@marklatham1414 yeah and now the kid looks up to homelander so hes already failed there

Keep in mind that Soldier Boy was willing to kill his own son to keep his word with Butcher. You can clearly see that he doesn't want to kill Homelander just for the fun of it, he was honoring his side of the deal he made with Butcher, whereas Butcher betrayed Soldier boy to protect Becca's son.
I think it's more about the 'disappointment' he has for him. He kept giving butcher these looks the last couple episodes, he probably only wanted to go through with it because he didn't get to raise Homelander, can't control him and resents that bc of his relationship with his own father.
That and they're close strength-wise, SB doesn't deal well with loose ends
@@nalby8312 Soldier Boy might've also realised what a failure Homelander turned out to be. Homelander became worse than him and he likely realised this was for the best that he died.

He doesn't think he's a good guy, that's the point. He is entirely self aware of what a fuck up he actually is, as seen in the whole Conversation with Homelander. "I'm you." "I know." and so on.
Which is why he wanted to kill Homelander, after everything Butcher told him and he saw for himself, he knew that Homelander was an even worse version of him, because Homelander was buying into his own Propaganda (Supes being Superior, he himself is a God), something that SB never did. And because of that SB knew that Homelander had to go. So even when he was an overall Asshole, when push came to shove he wanted to do the right thing.

Nah, Killmonger wasn't a Anti Villain. The man was just a regular Villain.
His whole thing was flawed. His Goals and Motivation was evil. He didn't want "freedom" and equality for black People, he wanted black people to become the new Opressor. So his Goals were shit. Just like Magneto. He lost his Family to the Nazi Regime and his Grand Plan basically was him becoming the second coming of Hitler with his talks about Mutants being the "Master Race".
Both Killmonger and Magneto got truly wronged in their Past, but their Solution was to literally become what they hated the Most. No matter how you try to spin it, that logic is absolutely idiotic and they shouldn't be applauded for it.
The way you parallel the disappointment line was top notch

From an early age, he was so educated, ordered, executed and used.

He tried to win friends by keeping his promises to those who believed in him, but no one treated him as human.

He better make a comeback in season 4
There is a reason they didnt kill him (plot wise) and with the popularity of Jensen Ackles's performance, I think he will.
I think soldier boy is such a poetic depiction of toxic masculinity taken to an extreme. A lot of his beliefs are from his time, leading to a lot of conformity to exactly what men and women should be, and he is incredibly egotistical. But the best part is how he deals with trauma. He has a line where he says "You wanna know what I do when I'm hurt or sad? Fucking nothing." In reality, all he does is bottle up his emotions, until they LITERALLY explode and hurt the people around him. On top of that, he has a partially complete and realistic arc with homelander. He sees in homelander his old self, and realizes all of the shit he did and why people hated him so much. Hence why when homelander says "Weak? I'm you." he replies "I know, your a fucking disappointment." And in the end, he isn't perfect. He arguably isn't even a good person. He's just grown from what he used to be. And that is so hard to pull off.
I dont think soldier boy enjoys inflicting pain, he just doesnt care. Homelander enjoys it, hell, he fucking loves it.
They did such a great job with his character. He had no stereotypical, crazy turn of personality to make him evil, he was just... himself the entire way through. I hope he comes back and kicks everyones ass lol.
Butcher was dumb for turning up against him at the end !!! he could've easily convince soldier boy not to kill his grandson, and homelander would've dead
One of the most badass and iconic characters in the show and people compare him to stormfront. Like fr both of them are leagues apart each other. Stormfront was a good character but as not as good SB and the reason she was killed off was because she had played her role to fullest, there was nothing more for that character to add in the series. After being exposed as nazi there was no way for her to fix her public image and vought would have dumped her sooner or later. However, I feel that we have barely scratched the surface with SB's character and if he returns in season 4, he's going to be completely unhinged because now the dude will trust no one and will try to kill everyone HL, The boys, ryan etc.
Would love to see soldier boy and Black noir teamed up in fourth season to kill homelander and the boys , of course that would require Black noir to have some guts .
They need more soldier boy. He’s a product of his time and got betrayed by his own people and tortured for decades.
Of course he’s going to go bad. Who wouldn’t.
I’d like to see more of him beyond the whole ‘toxic masculinity’ shtick
What I also really like about how his character was handled is that characters talk about him being an abusive monster and a shitty person but for the most part we don't actually see him be that. what we see is a man out of time who seems quite patriotic to what USA was like in his time and true to his word.
My point is that we never see him be as bad as others say he is. The only moment that he seemed a real shithead is when he confronted homelander and Ryan but even then he was going to keep the deal with butcher so it is redeemable in a way.
He was a product of the time he was raised in, if that was the angle they were going with anyway. Considering everything he went through I'd say he turned out rather well...

To be honest, I feel bad for Soldier Boy. He is a strong advocate conformist and hated how much America devolved into a nonconformist country (although he is fine with LBTQ rights & Feminism). The combat abuse he put Payback through is dark. However, you have to consider that Payback is about to be put into the front lines of war. The combat Payback used against Soldier Boy might've been due to the training they received from their former abusive leader. However, after four decades, Payback devolved and became a shadow of their former selves (many of them couldn't properly channel their powers anymore except Noir). Soldier Boy didn't fight in D-Day. However, he and some for the first supes fought in the remaining battles of WW2 alongside the U.S Military. They likely befriended the soldiers and managed to succeed in many military operations (we have to remember that Captain America joined the war late because of his celebrity profession). There is a possibility that Soldier Boy is happiest when he is working with military officers and soldiers. I wonder if the reason why Soldier Boy prevented any supe from taking his spot is because the leader of Payback or the Seven are Vought's personal enforcers (committing assassinations and heading illegal operations). This is what Noir became. Soldier Boy might've hated Noir not because of his skin color but because of his servant and meekly attitude due to how he always goes to Vought for permission rather than standing up and be proud of who he is (Noir managed to accomplish this after his internal battle in the Buster Beaver Restaurant). Soldier Boy's attitude to Payback is similar to how Star Wars' clone troopers belittled the stormtroopers as insults who cannot be proper soldiers (stormtroopers are more incompetent than clone troopers). All in all, we need a Soldier Boy tv show regarding his dark origins, soldier life, and his life as the star product of Vought.
This rings true with what SB says to the TNT twins and Mindstorm.....Noir doesn't make a move without Vought's say so!
@@gemqueen1866 Noir is kind of a hypocrite. He hated being bullied by Soldier Boy. However, Noir is responsible for the deaths of many innocent people. He killed most of them through brutal attacks.
You couldnt be more wrong about how he views the world lol. He clearly looked disgusted when he saw two men kiss, and he said all kinds of racist and sexist shit throughout the series. I understand the entire show is trying to convince us "Homelander is trump! Republicans are bad!", but soldier boy falls into that category as well. Dont try and make it seem like hes part of team libtard.
@@kadeweezywoodward9485 Then you cannot read faces....look of disgust? Where? He gave them a look most people would with all that PDA on the street. And what racist stuff, sexist by today's standard not his. Yes its a fictional show with fictional characters, but what I don't get is why there are those who define a character and what is said by today's standards which are so fine tuned as to make any comment or commentary a trigger for those who have very fragile feelings.
@@kadeweezywoodward9485 disgusted look the way it seemed like Soldier boy was like, "well this is a thing now? what the?" more surprised and confused but he never said anything horrible, heck the most he said was stuff that was dated like Bill Cosby being america's dad and he made a mean drink mind you he had no idea who cosby really was.
The real hero of the show.
They could have portrayed him better, i.e.: a real soldier betrayed by his teammates instead or a team leader who was so obsessed with making his team stronger to the tyranical point.
These will make his redemption storyline better.
But the whole point of the show is that anyone who is that powerful will be corrupted, him being good kind of misses that very central point of the show. Specially when you are by far the strongest being alive.
@@francargeric1 he will not be entirely morally good person.
He will have flaws but redemmable ones,. Thus, it could serve as lessons for those who have committed wrongdoings.
I don't know, may be I have a dull or boring point of view, but I believe that TV shows should have some educational values, even ultra-violent ones.
He was a bad man from episode 1. He killed MM's grandfather. He killed many civilians.
@@YurinanAcquiline It's not like he saw MM's grandfather through the window and went "I'm gonna kill that guy"
Also, name one war that did not involve killing.
Name one.
They betrayed him because He Was gonna kill HL And Ryan
Yes he was an asshole but Hes the only person who can stand a chance at HL
The Boys Made A Very Bad Decision At the end of The Episode and it was betraying Their Trump Card
I would rather Save Billions Of Lives Than Save A kid Whose not Even Yours and Starlight Was Dumb Super hero
If she was A Good Super Hero she would know that Killing HL is Way More Important than saving Ryan
And the boys Should Know that Too But Nope They decided to team up on SB and Fuck Their only chance of saving Millions Of People From HL
They could have kill HL But Instead of killing HL They decided to ignore him and They could have take care of SB After killing HL Using The Gas What a Bunch of Dumbass
Sir, I salute you. This is some incredible editing! 👌
Everyone is swooning om soldier boy... Me included... What acting by jenses ackles.. Being a long time supernatural fan it was a treat to watch him kick some badass.! Will miss him. Hope they bring him back.
Soldier boy is a truly man. I hope he is in season 4.
Best fckin character in a modern tv series by far, not even close!!! He should've had a better ending.
“Leaves from the vine falling so slow like fragile tiny shells drifting in the foam.”
Soldier boy the goat
Good bye Soldier boy. I will wait you in next seasons
Soldier Boy is Captain America if Colonel Phillips first choice got the serum
Soldier Boy is pretty much US Agent from Marvel
Soldier Boy and Homelander, two men born with all the tools and yet never could use them well.
There’s no way that they can kill his character off completely after all the love this guy has accumulated after the season ended.
The amount of people making excuses for him being a total piece of crap is more than telling.
Sadly not so surprising
I liked SB so much that now I hate butcher and the rest of the gang for betraying him
I find it very interesting how the show depicts him as a violent psychopath in the past, but a regular soldier in the present. Not sure what they were going for, but I'm rooting for him xd
He's not a good guy, but he's definitely not the worst person we've seen, with stormfront and homelander around, but he's sure as hell ain't a loose end you leave untied
Honestly I’m envious of Soldier Boy’s persona. He is so much stronger than me, mentally. And i wish i could at least match his mental fortitude. Call me weak… I already know. Wish everyone the best.
Soldier Boy is not a Villian. He bullied Payback because of all of his Time being belittled by his Father. Plus the 1900s were hard time for the youth. Hense his disgusted with what the world turned into. And disappointment with Homelander and wishing he had been there to raise him. He was Right about Homelander and right about what it means to be a Man.
Plus Mother Milk is always saying Soldier Boy killed his Family but as if he did it on purpose? Is it not plausible that Soldier Boy killed his family by accident. Like him or not you cannot deny Soldier Boy has Morals. I don't think it's possible he was used like Vought used Lamplighter for Assassin missions. Soldier Boy is a Soldier who fights in open battle. The way MM describes the incident sound a lot like Soldier Boy mistakenly hitting a house when he was aiming for whoever he was fighting. And "Racist piece of shit?"Soldier Boy never made any insinuation that he was Racist or in any way discriminatory toward any color.
There's a lot of room for Character Growth and Study for Soldier Boy and shouldn't be wasted.
True about the racist part, it never looked like he was a racist. He did seem anti LGBT but that is logical considering the time he is from.
Even some racism would make sense but we never saw that.
@@Blackdeathgaming-yv1kk he didnt seem too hateful for any of it. For LGBT yea probably hes still that macho retro man but even for that his face was like "tf this is normal these days now?"
Hell his idea of a real man is Bill Cosby who's a black celebrity, albeit a very controversial one
Nah even Kripki sayd that he's much worse than Homie
@@Blackdeathgaming-yv1kk his reaction to seeing an openly gay couple was pretty much just, "Huh, that's a little weird. Moving on."
Dude, how tf it is soooo good
Epic tribute. Epic music choice and good, quality editing. Keep up the good, hard work.
This is a truly masterful edit! The timing, the tone, the narrative arc all sync perfectly.
God tier editing. Although it sorta makes it seem like he's a good guy.
Soldier boy in the show. Is my favorite character. Dude is awesome.
The sad thing about Soldier boy is everytime his team would betray him even he wants to do the right thing
The only character who was ready to go to the end.But the idiot Butcher ruined everything because of a little shit, he missed such a chance.Poor Soldier Boy, betrayed again
Such an amazing edit! Thank you for this video. Very powerful
Soldier boy will definitely come back. I can feel it
Soldier boy briny back to live the boys
Best character in the show. And that’s saying a lot for me. I love them all
Homelander was my favorite character, when Soldier boy came, I changed camp, hes my favorite character
Sigma male personified by Jensen. He gets better with age like wine.
Another God-tier edit. Bravo and keep up the amazing work :)
