  • I have had some questions regarding the smoothie you guys always see me drinking! Here I go into more detail on each ingredient.
    Food can be such a powerful tool and to think that so many people just shake up protein and water after their workout hurts my brain. Watch this and refuel better.

    Anyone else on the Turmeric train? If there is one spice I would love to see people consuming it is Turmeric. The evidence is mounting on this nutraceutical becoming one of the most beneficial available to us. Get it in ya!

      Yes I always have Turmeric in my post workout smoothie :) Always a banana, apple, Kale, Spinach, Flax Seeds, Maca Powder, Pine Pollen and sometimes mixed berries, Spirulina and a scoop of protein powder. I don't get anywhere near as sore as I used to before I became vegan and I workout harder now too.
      EDIT: Oh and I pre mix Black Pepper with my Turmeric so I don't forget to add it.

    Hey Derek! Okay so I was following a couple female vegan channels and trying their different vegan eating methods and man they just weren't working for me. I was contemplating going back to just being a vegetarian because I kept having that dairy craving. I'd eat the fo meats and burgers because I thought," hey protein! I need this as a replacement." And I was on and tried so many protein powders but then I came across your videos and I'm only 4 days into the green smoothie( which I was already having just not scaled up enough) and wow...I FEEL UNSTOPPABLE!! Energy is no longer an ISSUE! I go past dairy in the store while starved and I'm still able to say NO! It's amazing! My taste buds are already changing and I'm craving the whole plant food more than dairy! I've never been a fan of meat really so that's never been the issue but man dairy ruled my life when I was hungry. I didn't understand it at all but after watching some of your videos and just jumping all in? I FEEL GREAT! This works so well with me! Not only that but all day! I've got more energy, I'm consuming more vegetables and fruits and feeling amazing! Thanks so much for everything you put out into the world! You're so inspirational and I truly hope to guide people the way you do someday with my own nutritional practices, rock on!

      Amazing! Such a great story. It really is surreal hearing all these positive testimonies. I think your message is great, what you were doing wasn't working for you so you kept digging until you found what worked. So happy to have your support. You can do this too! You just have to start. I had no idea when I first started, trust me. It's a grind. You just have to do it better, more often and for longer than everyone else.

      I had the same problem, and I'm definitely feeling amazing a week into watching Derek's videos and trying out his advice and recipes. A lot of other channels just don't show high enough calorie recipes or big enough portions if you are doing anything other than regular daily activity such as walking to and from an office job type thing. I was dying after my workouts but now I'm feeling really good and actually hitting my calorie goals.

    Been Vegan for about 2 months now and I've been seeing/feeling great results! I just graduated, playing college football and I would constantly have bad knee pain whether it be from the workouts or on the field playing. After graduating, I continued working out at an advanced level and the knee pain would not leave. This affected my running, squats (and other leg workouts) never allowing me to train to my fullest potential. After doing my research an religiously following your page I went cold turkey and pursued the vegan route. As of today following this exact smoothie pattern along with my plant base diet, I LITERALLY have NO KNEE PAIN anymore! On occasion I still feel a little pain during long car rides, but I've only been vegan for exactly 1 month and 1 week! (Who's counting though lol)
    Sorry for the long post, but I really wanted to let you know you've been such a big help in my journey. I've been taking pictures every week of my progression. After I complete 2-3 months training hard (and gaining weight) in this new life stlye, I too plan on telling my story through CZcams and Instagram following your steps to spread the word of veganism and breaking the stereotype of "You can't be Vegan and get gains!) Thank you again friend.

    Your videos are amazing and really inspiring! IÂŽm vegan for about 7 1/2 years now, but struggled with some health conditions like some strange weakness, loss of concentration, bad mood to depression, anxiety, brain fog and so on. I made the mistake to just eat way too much fats and protein, further more grains (although I felt no specific problem with gluten) and sugars, coffee and alcohol.
    Then I was lucky to get the information of the "medical medium" anthony william in my life, and that changed everything! Most of the things he says are similar to what you say. One amazingly helpful thing for your entire body, is to drink 16oz of pure, fresh juiced sellerie about 20min after your water-lemon-drink in the mornig, then wait for another 20-30min before having any other breakfast. Belive me, it will get your health again to a new level!
    Thank you for your vids and that important, but decades old protein-lie revelation! Greatings from Essen, Germany
    PS: You donÂŽt need any black pepper with your turmeric. This is another lie of the industrie to make their ready-made products (with pepper) cheaper, cause pepper doesnÂŽt cost a fraction of turmeric. Pepper does NOT increase the power of turmeric, but could potentialy irritate your intestinal tract or stomach.

    Quick question. I workout after work, would I attempt and consume your smoothie (or similar) and then have a packed dinner as well?
    Curious... just become vegan and loving it so wondering how I recover, what I should eat throughout the day etc.
    Any help would be great.
    Keep up the great work!

      Thanks for the great videos Derek, really inspiring :) One thing I reacted to though. Flax seeds contains hydrogen cyanide which might be dangerous in high amounts. The swedish food administration actually recommends people not to eat ground flax seeds because of limited data on the subject:
      www.livsmedelsverket.se/livsmedel-och-innehall/mat-och-dryck/notter-och-froer/linfro
      Sry about the swedish text, maybe google translate can help you there :)

    • @Simnettnutrition
      @Simnettnutrition  Pƙed 6 lety +1

      I am aware of this from the Swedish government. They said they don't have enough information so you shouldn't eat them. Hydrogen Cyanide is dangerous in high amounts, I doubt the amount we would get from a few tbsp of flax seeds is enough. The health benefits associated with flax seeds should also be taken into account then. They are one of the leading foods for reducing our likelihood of having prostate cancer which is one of men's biggest killers today... not cyanide poisoning from flax. Just my 2 cents though.

    Hi Derek,
    Miles at Healthy Crazy Cool gave you a big shout out so I had to check you out. you've got great info in your posts. I have one (big) question...I HATE bananas and I can't even stand the smell of them. So I miss out on a lot of smoothies etc., because they always have bananas/puree in them. What else can I use in place of them?
    Thanks,
    Laurent

    • @Simnettnutrition
      @Simnettnutrition  Pƙed 6 lety +1

      Hi Laurent!
      You can use any other sweet fruit in place of bananas. Mangos and pineapple work well! Berries are a great option too.

      Try this combination (if you can find all the fruits): mango + pineapple + papaya + 1 guava fruit. Tastes really good, hides all the flavors of vegetables and 1 small guava fruit is packed with a lot more C vitamin than a big orange. That's a plus.

      Very cool! Thanks. Yes, turmeric, black pepper and the taste were all dressed. Yes, if a capsule fits you better do that! Very cool they are putting black pepper in the capsules.. so many companies do some much to make it more bioavailable and all they have to do is add some pepper, lawls.

      I think he wants his smoothie to be relatively low in fat while high in calories. The high caloric fruits he mentioned give him the sugars and calories he needs, and he implied that consuming a lot of the fattier protein options like nut butter after a workout make him feel less good and recovered.
