    I bought a 2008 Toyota Yaris Toyota Certified with 60,000 miles now it has a hundred twenty thousand miles and nothing ever has went wrong with it. on the other hand my wife had a 2007 Acura TSX 80,000 miles and the engine was burning more oil than gas I will never buy a Honda or an Acura ever again. Toyota is king of reliability. Other cars may be more flashy but if you want a car that never leave you stranded your best bet is a Toyota

    A couple years ago, I bought a brand new 2015 Yaris. Same engine and trans. I am not to sure about any of the negative comments in this CZcams review, does not resonate with what I have heard and seen.The Yaris is a great little car. You do need to keep in mind that its an economy car. Comfortable seats, good dash and controls layout. Feels tight well built and handles well. Decent gas mileage, a blast to drive in town or out on the open road.Also the utility of a hatch so you can load it up pretty good.I don't want to forget the most important part, they are built to last ! Cheers

    What's going on with this clown? I own a 3 door 2007 Yaris since 2009. At the moment it has over 336,000 original miles with no mechanical issues whatsoever.... This little import is meant to drive from point A to point B. No need for a daily V-8 or even a V-6 for transportation in CA.

I know its a premium price for a low mileage older model...I don't care...I put 8-10K a year on...and will take me 20 years to hit 170K...Consumer Reports is Stupid when it comes to this CRAP...I mean in the early 80s they BRAGGED how great the Toyota Starlet was...(Cheap Basic Transportation - Just Like Yaris!) Seems now if its not some fully loaded BMW or Some $50K car (that usually has too much electronic shit that breaks anyway) its just "Too Cheap" to recommend...this world has gotten to the point that they think even cheap cars need "Fancy Shit" mine has Power Pkg...(Pwr windows/locks/mirrors)...That's More than "Fancy" for me...as my F150 I bought NEW had, Manual Locks/Mirrors/CRANK WINDOWS!

  • @verygood7155

    I've had my hatchback for 7 years and it never has a problem. Some owners have well over half a million miles without having any major issues. The center dash speedometer like in the Mini Cooper is part of the Yaris's appeal. The center speedometer isn't at all inconveniently placed when you consider that the cars side mirrors are much further out of the line of sight and I look at them often while driving and think nothing of it. If the speedometer location really bothers some people then looking all the way over at the side mirrors on any car must feel truly terrifying! For those challenged individuals it's probably far safer to take a bus.
    Incidentally the VW Golf's fit and finish is far superior to the Yaris but their reliability ratings are far lower. For me I look at the road rather than the fit and finish of my cars interior, but for those who prefer fit and finish over reliability at least they'll have something to admire while they wait for the tow truck.

I took it on the hwy and merged on with no problems comfortably doing 65-70... of course its a little loud but once you get on its fine its a great car and i find it to be quite spacious maybe thats me i am a little short but my dad whom is 5ft 10 fit in the backseat just fine... 2009 2dr Auto, 152k and averaging 29mpg driving moderately aggressive, like to rev it, and in Houston roads, a bit of highway but not much 20 mile commute to and from work. feels snappy, handling isnt the best, but it can technically make you a better driver if you practice getting around its flaws, driving swifty and what not instead of balls to the wall. I do need better tires and suspect bearings need changing, add to that my lead foot but i am sure i could average 37 if i grandma it.

    What exactly makes it a terrible car? Its not suppose to be a sporty car. Would be nice but it isn't. I don't find it any worse on bumps than any other average car. Its average comfort. It should have telescoping steering wheel. But its reliable. Its great on gas. Its durable. Engine and trans are proven to be Reliable so what's the problem?

    I bought one with 150k miles, after test driving one with over 350k Miles. The engine on the 350k was still running smooth and quite, the transmission was great and shifted fine. That's like proven reliability that your seeing and actually driving. And they don't have all the computer ran junk that goes out on the newer cars, and costs big bucks to repair. And this one with that high of miles still had no codes on the scan tool!! The owner said all he had to do was change the engine oil at 5K and the trans oil at every 50k, which both are cheap and easy to do. They are great cars for being simple, reliable, and not crammed with all the electrical, especially the GPS tracking BS, the remote take over of your car possibility, the spying and record everything you say. That's in all the newer cars now. Get a 2007 Yaris or any of the Echos, they have none of that and can last for years. They both have the highest gas mileage too.

    I bought new a 2010 3dr Hatchback AT Yaris, we have put 130,000 miles on it (30K the first year as a commuter car) but the only repair has been a water pump. (Big Deal $300 Parts and Labor), when I commuted I drove 80%/20% 75mph Fwy / 55mph back roads home in MN. I would 37 MPG all summer long on Goodyear Eagle LS tires, and 32 MPG in winter on General Altimax Arctic, due to the sticky tires and colder weather. For me the Fit didn't "Fit" as it does not come in the far more comfortable 3-Door. (The 1NZ-FE engine, U340E Auto, are not the MPG leaders anymore, and won't be returning for 2019 but they were some of the most reliable dollar to value cars out there, hopefully I can pick up some nice used ones to buzz around in, into the future.)

    I'm looking at these now in 2022 because I'm sick of my 2012 ford focus that only has 81,000 kilometers and so far, the steering rack failed, then heater core failed needing the entire dash to be removed after that cam shaft position sensor failed and now water is leaking into the back hatch area flooding out the spare wheel compartment.....I don't want to know what will fail next and I want a cheap simple and reliable car that doesn't have a problem every 5 minutes.

  • @alexstepanski
    @alexstepanski Před 6 lety +2

    The yaris is slow, will feel cheap to some people, doesn't handle as well as the competition, isn't as versatile as the fit.
    But who cares?
    People don't buy a yaris to sip wine on the way to their private jet. They drive it because it's cheap and reliable. People that buy these cars expect tough reliability which really on Toyota has these days, Honda is a great second choice and the fit is a "better" car when you look at it from a review view, but when you look at what is important in this segment it's a draw... if you need versatility and sportiness the fit is the choice... if you need cheap reliable transportation the yaris is the choice.

      @verygood7155 Před 9 lety +3

      Press and hold the tiny button in front of the clock until the "minutes" side starts flashing. While it is flashing click the button repeatedly until the minutes are corrected then wait until the hour side starts flashing and click on the button until the hour is corrected then don't touch the button again. Soon the blinking will stop and the clock is reset.

      Ginja Man: I just picked up my second 2010 3dr hatch...problems? No, not really...But - You want to get a 2009 or newer ABS is standard, along with the side curtain air bags...the 2010 and newer have a stability and traction control system that makes them nice in snowy parts of the country. My "Old 2010" has 135,000 on it, and its my wife's car...the only 2 things that were not routine maintenance were: Heater Fan started making a funny noise so I replaced it $75...and at 120K the water pump started to make noise...I had a local shop fix it...(I have fat hands and its tight in there)...cost $300...But I have done all the other maintenance myself...Oil Changes, Brakes, Spark Plugs, Air Filters, BTW this car is extremely simple. Get on YarisWorld.com and there is a TON of information on these cars. My New 2010 I have only had a week, it only has 8500 miles...its barely on 2nd oil change!

      @@gringoenespanol I live in a place where it is snow and ice half the year, I will not own a car without ABS or Traction Control...And the Side Curtain Airbags are nice when someone without ABS slides thru the intersection and T-Bones you...as happened to my friend yesterday. Luckily his Mitsubishi had Side Curtain Bags...The Stability System is pretty cool on these things too...I hit some slush making the car hydroplane and slide sideways at 30mph and the car applied the brakes and took me out of the spin before I even had the chance to react. I would likely would have been upside down in the ditch had it not done its thing...I used to be just like you...I drove 70s-80s simple vehicles and white knuckled all winter long...now I put the snow tires on in the fall and drive with confidence. Technology is awesome.

    I have a 2008 model, and I agree on some points, and disagree on others. I agree that the handling is poor. It feels darty, always requiring steering correction, and body roll is excessive. But I disagree about acceleration---from 0-60 I think it's quite spritely, and I have to make a conscious effort to back off the throttle so as not to get a ticket. But at highway speeds, it's definitely not as responsive as around town

    @davewhodavedunn WHile I agree, you have to remember the class of car this is. They need to keep the price down so you don't offer that stuff. I guess you could, but I don't even think the Corolla has it. I agree Toyota skimps on stuff a lot. Not as a good bang for your buck.

The reason for the simetrical design is so they can save some money. for all markets. Just becasue you dont have alot of money to spend you dont have to buy a yaris.
