Why You Should Wear Neutral Coloured Clothing

- I have nothing against wearing colours and patterns but I rarely invest in those kinds of pieces. The majority of my wardrobe is made up of simple neutral pieces that all work well with one another. Although I do think about each of my purchases, I’m naturally drawn to the more neutral pieces when shopping for clothing anyway.
In this video, I want to talk about why neutral tones are so important when it comes to styling and how they make life so much easier! If you are someone who finds pairing colours together then this is a video for you. I hope you enjoy this video. I have been wanting to make it for a while and I hope it all makes sense.
I would describe my style as pretty minimal however, these tips will help make your life easier, no matter what style you are into.

Getting high quality clothes in neutral tones can save you a lot of money, you'll get a lot of wear from them. Also, there are lots of ways to make your outfit pop by adding jewellery or by having a statement clothing pieces if u have an extra.

When I buy an expensive piece, I always go for neutral or earth colours, they never will be out of fashion. Love the new background Harry. as usual a like for this one. Sort of a capsule wardrobe style. Basics are so important and less is more definitely helps. Biggest problem when you are a person with a wardrobe full of clothe and nothing to wear is that nothing does match.

💯% agree!!! Especially now that I'm in my late 30's, I find the colourful/bright and loud patterns to be too "out there". I recently overhauled my wardrobe with mostly neutral coloured polos and henleys, and khaki/brown and black pants. I find the mix-and-match possibilities to be endless, and I don't feel like I'm trying to be younger than I am. Great video👍

Another video I would want to see is around utilizing a color wheel to make stylistic choices. Reading through the comments, I noticed a few comments regarding lack of loud colors or this being lazy, etc. This is a great video for utilizing and crafting a great starting wardrobe - I strongly believe everyone should watch this. However, I think an evolution around this would be strategic buying and selling of clothes and how you can mix neutral and colorful wardrobes to really add dynamics to your clothing and style. A lot of people don't make those intentional choices when buying clothes, and it feels like you could easily do that and help folks on how create that more blended neutral to poppy style.

@@HarryHas I totally get it. I think you did a good job of explaining a very neutral initial wardrobe and how it contrasts against very out there and loud pieces. You did have some elements in the middle which touched on going outside of the neutral setup you started with, but didn't get so bold. I think folks would love that perspective - its something I talk to my friends about a ton (less crazy patterns but more-so buying into brighter and different colors). 4:22 well said! What an eye opener! No wonder people have a hard time deciding what to wear, especially if they primarily shop clearance racks, people most of the clothes is memorable, loud and trendy. Sticking with neutral classics going forward!
You say people get bored of loud pieces but I would argue that neutral simple outfits are what people get bored of, we see them everywhere, a well put together outfit with colours which compliment each other, now that’s fun to wear and fun to see out about, people fear colour, personally I think that has made fashion a bore. You do make some good points and having a neutral simple and minimalist wardrobe works for someone who likes go keep it simple but let’s admit, it’s never the most exciting or fun way to dress just plain and easy.
I agree with you 100% and louder pieces are definitely more exciting but then those colourful pieces stand out more so people remember you in them more and get bored of seeing you in them. That’s my point. If you have the money to buy loads of clothes then it’s not so much a problem. Take the light blue jumper I wore in my last video. I love it and it’s more exciting than some neutral sweaters but I already got people saying I wear it a lot because I wore it 3 times. That’s my point. I think celebrities who can afford to wear different outfits every day can get away with wearing loud pieces because they don’t wear them again but for me, it’s harder to do. I hope that makes sense. Also you can get creative with accessories, layering and different combos with neutrals that can change things up but it isn’t majorly exciting a lot of the time, you are right. But for me, it is all about looking nice and feeling comfortable in what I wear, not being flashy.
@@HarryHas I don’t have a problem with repeat pieces or repeat outfits even, I think that mentality should be done with. If you truly love a piece and you feel comfortable in let it mould to you and become your identity. “Yes I wear it a lot because I truly love this piece”. Would you rather have a stand out unique outfit or have a outfit that is basic? I think for depends on my mood. Sometimes I like wearing all black, sometimes I like to get in to tonal outfits but the most fun I have is playing with colour, I don’t have to look like a rainbow to do so either 😂 just the simplest emphasis on some coloured pieces or even accessories.
I’m just playing a bit of devils advocate here 😆
Also it’s not about being flashy either for me, but I like to distant myself lately from simple neutral outfits as I feel it’s just what everyone does, and I think fashion should be a individualistic expression, we are all unique individuals so our outfits should represent that also
I know and not taking it as a criticism. I like a natter about stuff like this. My point is it’s not about having a unique outfit or basic outfit, more about investing in louder pieces means you can wear them less without people remembering them and they are less versatile. Nothing wrong with that if you don’t care about those things. A red jumper is more exciting than a black one (as an example) but which one are you going to remember someone wearing the most? The red one. If I wear the red one twice a week, people will remember it more and think I wear it all the time. If I do the same with a black sweater, people probably won’t notice

Think they were Everlane and an allsaints overcoat. Did it mainly because the pictures were easy to cut out for the purpose of the display rather than them being any good pieces though

I just meant it as there are no rules when it comes to fashion so there is no wrong or right. Some people may wear things differently to the way you do but that doesn’t make it wrong. I don’t give rules on the channel. I always say that there are no rules when it comes to fashion. I just offer ideas and show people what I do. After all that, I actually happen to prefer a tighter and flat neck myself, but it’s not the point I’m trying to make. Some people will like a neckline that’s even more distressed and loose. Hahaha I find talking to camera SO SO difficult where I have to concentrate and do the video line by line. I’m trying to get better at it so I can relax more but it’s still very uncomfortable for me to do. Practice makes perfect though.

I also don’t think it’s for lazy people though. Quite the opposite. This method is used by people who don’t have time because they are so busy with everything else in their day (Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, Matt D’avella to name a few that come to mind.) they all wear the exact same stuff and they are the opposite of lazy
