My husband and I stopped Halloween because it is directly demonic and I don’t want to open any doors. The other holidays can have a Christian focus, if you choose to do everything to God’s glory. Even birthdays, for God giving us another year to serve Him and grow. Same for anniversaries, I praise God for my marriage and my husband is my biggest earthly blessing. This is what is correct according to my conscience that I continue to train using the Bible. I wouldn’t bind that on someone else, but I am willing to explain to anyone who asks why. It’s kind of a, “when you know to do better, do better” kind of thing.

Amen I have always despised Halloween. Even as a child I thought this feels evil. In spite of all of it we teach our children all year "Don't take candy from strangers", "Stay off peoples property", "Be kind to others" as kids are yelling awful things like trick or treat. Then we let them have all these restrictions go out the window.

That point of "who cares how we bring people to Christ" did not really set well for me. When you say something like that you have to extend this logic to other things. Imagine "I dress like a drag" to go hand out tracks during pride parade. Go ahead and bring people to Christ but you don't have to blend in and do it wordly way. You can witness to people without candy on Halloween. While some may have pure motives in all of this, knowing that unbelievers will certainly say to themselves "oh, they approve me dressing like a Dracula on Halloween- they gave me candy and on top of it said Jesus loves me" - I don't know how can one not see a problem with this. Honestly here is that these kids are exposed to demonic influence through dressing up and engaging in pagan practices with demonic origins (however innocent they look) and the best thing to would be to tell them and their parents that this is not good for their soul, they need to repent and turn to Jesus for help and His love. Sorry for my strong conviction

Hardly... the analogy would be that if there was a gay pride marathon in town and your church decides to go to that parade to hand out tracts and water--the church I attended in Chicago did that. On that night kids would be knocking at your door uninvited anyways. Well, since Providence has delivered them to your door, why not give them a tract? You could have considered giving them just the tract without candy and then explaining why you believe Halloween is wrong, but I see no harm if there were a few pieces of candy with it to make the little kids glad. Why should the devil have a monopoly on the candy? God is the one who created the sugar cane and all the plants that made the candy in the first place!

It confirmed something the Lord has shown me in the recent past, where i was 'standing my ground' with family members over estate settlement...i was SO sure that I was the one of strongest faith in the family. Obviously my pride caused a huge fall for me- i was shown that i was 'caring more about honoring the family heritage & legacy, & the wishes of our deceased Mom than i was taking a stand for the Lord...'
My own idolatry (of my parents
& siblings) led to a long & painful journey into what real sanctification is all about! So this topic reaches far beyond 'opinions' about holidays!

I don't think I agree with this Pastor's views on the pagan origins of holidays, but I really appreciated his attitude in accordance with Romans 14. He really captured and summarized the essence of the issue. Props. On a side note, please do research the pagan origins issue. You may discover as I did that Easter is not the name of a Saxon goddess, and Christmas is not a repurposed Saturnalia festival. You might even discover that Halloween is not linked to Samhain in any way, and that we don't actually know anything about Samhain because the Celts didn't keep records of their religious beliefs.. But all that said, this pastor is correct. Conscience toward God is what matters, and thus we need to be very careful about our judgments.

There is nothing about that day that honors The Father. I know you’ve read Deuteronomy 12 “...that you do not inquire after their gods, saying, ‘How did these nations serve their gods? Look let us not lie to each other. And we all agree we celebrate all these before we accepted Jesus. Now we accepted Him, we still love to celebrate it, am i right? We do. Just last year i was visited by Jesus , Dec 19 if i still remember. When He told me "where are my generals? The army is ready, but where are they?" And i said "they are preparing to celebrate christmas".. then i messaged my friend and telling them that something is going to happen which i dont even know. And from what i understood with God, He was not even concerned about christmas, and He was even asking where are His children? What is going on? Then when COVID came, Jesus came to me again, teaching me all His words from old testament to new.. i was shocked that Jesus is the speaker in the entire old testament.. my goodness.
Now HEAR THE WORD OF THE LORD. HE WHO HAS EYES AND EARS, LET THE LORD YAWEH YESHUA REVEAL IT
"Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good."
Oh you children of God, during Halloween, xmas, new year and every satanic holiday where the occults do their rituals even until now, when do you say "PRAISE JESUS!!!!" during these days!? Do not lie, for you all lie to the Lord. You never did and the same for me also! If you want to celebrate, do it in the presence of the Lord, according to thr scriptures. Do not follow the ways of the heathen for i did, and i suffered from it before Yeshua decided to save me!
But the only one who can make you not do all these is Jesus. Because i celebrate these things, even if i know in my conscience it is wrong, even before accepting Jesus. Just pray to Yaweh to guide you and take control of you

A bit muddled to begin with but he did a really good job of addressing the reason why I left Grace Fellowship Manchester (the church he is addressing). No-one was expressing strong opinions on issues and it was getting very very Liberal. The last half of the video was very well expressed. He hits the nail on the head. If I was still in Manchester I would return to the church. Hope he brings the street preaching back to Manchester UK. I dothink the underlying issue in the chrch was the lack of strong individual convictions, or at least the expression of them.

The reason why we saved people argue a lot (not christians, Jesus didn't say you must be a christian to be saved. Jesus didn't came down to start christianity, but to finish what He already started), it is because we argue things from our own knowledge, not from thr Holy Spirit. Tell me, of we all pray and seek God for answers, are we going to celebrate Halloween and christmas? I DON'T THINK DO
look, Jesus said everything that we dont do by faith is a sin. Even if we celebrate passover without faith in God is A SIN. if a person celebrated innocently Christmas praising God and shouting "praise Jesus!!!!!", then he is innocent. But if we celebrate Christmas and pagan holidays knowing it is wrong, then we are sinning against Jesus!

Many people seem to associate modern Halloween with three things: The old Celtic New Year’s celebration of Samhain (in asserting that most of Halloween’s customs can be traced to Samhain celebrations); Satanism (asserting that Halloween’s origins are Satanic as evidenced by the many Satanists who use this day to promote their beliefs); and All Saints Day (asserting that the early church established the holiday to “Christianize” Samhain). Upon a more critical examination however, these associations are more wishful thinking than actual fact.
Modern Halloween as we know it today is just that - a modernly invented ‘holiday’ combining elements of an earlier American tradition called “Hell Night”, along with a healthy dose of good old “Hollywood” thrown in for good measure. Virtually _all_ American customs associated with Halloween originated right around the 1920’s - 1930’s or so. While there are some vestigial elements from pre-Christian religions in some of the customs (bobbing for apples for example), the modern costumes, the blood, the gore, the reveling in death and destruction, the candy, even ‘trick or treat’ itself, dates no earlier than 1900’s America. In short, it’s a relatively new phenomenon and represents a mix of cultures, capitalism, and accommodation.
Again, all three holidays, Halloween, All Saint’s Day, and Samhain share a common date and perhaps a “feeling”, but that’s really about it. Modern Halloween is no more “pagan” than Labor Day or Columbus Day. Indeed, so much of Halloween “feels” pagan that attempts to connect those things to ancient Samhain and Satanism simply “feels right”.
Samhain/Halloween is to some people a very spiritual and magickal time of the year; for some it’s a time of fun and candy, perhaps a way to celebrate Fall in general. Still for others, perhaps a time to contemplate their own mortality since the modern holiday mocks death. Some perhaps are not quite sure what to make of it and prefer to steer clear of it, but however you wish to celebrate it
.or not - Halloween, in and of itself, is only ‘evil’ if one chooses to make it so.

Yes, but the purpose of all that is to mock death and evil. For Christians ("Christians" in a broad sense of the term), poking fun at that evil with the idea that, as a Christian, the Devil holds no power over a 'believer'. It is also a way to remind us of our own mortality and (for at least once a year) play on the fears of man with respect to death.
It is only evil if you choose to make it evil.

I don't celebrate Easter but instead , ressurection day. Birthdays and anniversaries i can't see anything wrong with just like Thanksgiving and weddings and their receptions. Halloween is the big day for witches snd satanists. Horrible things are done on that night in secret. Its fun to dress up in costumes as long as they are not evil, maybe church could have costume parties in the gym for the hours leading up to praying in the New year. Or sometime in March just for fun in the gym. I would never tell my child all the Santa Claus stuff or Easter bunny or tooth fairy lies because its lying to them and then the kids wont trust you about the reality of the Lord later on once they think about it. I have been known to put Halloween tracts in stores and books stores etc for secular kids to find. I once celebrated all of those holidays. I was really into halloween. God forgive me, im ashamed. It's not about other people's opinions but obeying the teachings of Jesus which is the teachings from Jesus to the apostles by the Holy Spirit, which is God's Word. Acts 2:42. 2sd Timothy 3:16-17. The leadership of an assembly should lead according to God's Word. God will judge individuals when He comes back. Romans 14. We are to love in Spirit and truth. When a person is truly born again they will know it dishonors the Lord to celebrate holloween etc. We are commanded to do two things after we are saved. 1, be baptized. 2, celebrate the Lords table as we know it. We are not told to remember His birth. We need Godly leadership in the assembly. Titus 1:5-7 able to instruct God's people. Personal opinions today is why the body of believers is in the state it's in today. God's word is a closed book. Get back to God's word and such questions would not be asked. Is it ok to celebrate holloween?.

Well, though I agree with Pastor Tim here--let it be a matter of conscience, by the comments it seems there are many in the Church who would stumble if we let our kids go trick-or-treating etc. so I guess let's not do that. There was a time when eating meat would be associating with demons as well (since it was sacrificed to idols) and so we are instructed to just ask no questions and eat. But if someone mentions idols, then don't eat it for conscience's sake. I believe the same principle applies. Whatever Easter, Christmas and Halloween were in the past, that meaning has now been pretty much lost nowadays. It is just egg and jellybean day, presents and stuffing yourself out day, and candy and costume day. So go ahead and eat the Halloween candy you were given by that coworker there, but if someone sees it, then let's not eat it.

Meat eating was not the issue. Eating meat from the alter of an idol was. But if it did not seem an issue for one to buy the cheaper meat and eat it without his conscience being bothered it was ok as long as he did not eat it in front if a Christian who felt it was wrong and in so doing yo make him stumble. That's what I understood the bible to say.

I don't really understand Tim's position on Halloween. But I feel like he says it's ok to celebrate it which makes me extremely disappointed. I mean he doesn't do it himself but he doesn't forbid it. He is one if my favourite preachers.
I feel like the church today is soooooo childish, asking completely retarded questions. We will hear questions like "Is premarital sex ok?" in the future.
No wonder, we drink only milk, the sheep are starving.

i don't think you are a pastor, you don't realize how wrong you are.
also if you are a pastor you should know what responsibility you have when you open your mouth...you will be judge for your false teachings, you confuse people..
you speak about the weak in spirit?
you should have a strong doctrine to harden that weak spirit not to allow sin to happen..
i suggest to research more about the subject..
you know that in the beginning the protestant churches didn't celebrate christmas, haloween, easter because they say they are from the devil???

Accept other believers who are weak in faith, and don’t argue with them about what they think is right or wrong. For instance, one person believes it’s all right to eat anything. But another believer with a sensitive conscience will eat only vegetables. Those who feel free to eat anything must not look down on those who don’t. And those who don’t eat certain foods must not condemn those who do, for God has accepted them. Who are you to condemn someone else’s servants? Their own master will judge whether they stand or fall. And with the Lord’s help, they will stand and receive his approval.
In the same way, some think one day is more holy than another day, while others think every day is alike. You should each be fully convinced that whichever day you choose is acceptable. Those who worship the Lord on a special day do it to honor him. Those who eat any kind of food do so to honor the Lord, since they give thanks to God before eating. And those who refuse to eat certain foods also want to please the Lord and give thanks to God. For we don’t live for ourselves or die for ourselves. If we live, it’s to honor the Lord. And if we die, it’s to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. Christ died and rose again for this very purpose-to be Lord both of the living and of the dead.
So why do you condemn another believer? Why do you look down on another believer? Remember, we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. For the Scriptures say,
“‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord,
‘every knee will bend to me,
and every tongue will confess and give praise to God.’”
Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God. So let’s stop condemning each other. Decide instead to live in such a way that you will not cause another believer to stumble and fall.
I know and am convinced on the authority of the Lord Jesus that no food, in and of itself, is wrong to eat. But if someone believes it is wrong, then for that person it is wrong. And if another believer is distressed by what you eat, you are not acting in love if you eat it. Don’t let your eating ruin someone for whom Christ died. Then you will not be criticized for doing something you believe is good. For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. If you serve Christ with this attitude, you will please God, and others will approve of you, too. So then, let us aim for harmony in the church and try to build each other up.
Don’t tear apart the work of God over what you eat. Remember, all foods are acceptable, but it is wrong to eat something if it makes another person stumble. It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything else if it might cause another believer to stumble. You may believe there’s nothing wrong with what you are doing, but keep it between yourself and God. Blessed are those who don’t feel guilty for doing something they have decided is right. But if you have doubts about whether or not you should eat something, you are sinning if you go ahead and do it. For you are not following your convictions. If you do anything you believe is not right, you are sinning. - Romans 14
