  • Jesus tells us to preach the gospel to every creature and make disciples of all the nations. But how do we also understand His command to not cast our pearls before swine or give that which is holy to dogs?

You know, I always thought of this. I think the current church is too influenced by dominionism doctrine even in evangelism.
I dare say even the Great Comission has to be ordained from God individually in a case by case basis. At that time in that verse, it was ordained to the apostles.
Like Tim says, we all have to be open to share the Gospel but until that chance comes, growing ourselves in Christ is the best thing to be actively doing.

Well explained. Let the Holy Spirit lead you in witnessing to someone, and listen to His voice in your heart, when it is time to 'move on' ... Dont throw your pearls before swines, since the next person may be eagerly awaiting to hear about the Good News of Christ. Amen

Thank You Pastor Tim! I had to get out of the habit of continue witnessing/ministering to the ones who just don't want to hear it. I thought that I might hit on something that would get through to them but, alas, didn't work. To tell an Italian woman to keep quiet is like telling her to cook for one person - only by the Spirit of God can she stop. I'm getting this book and this video did indeed bless me! May God continue to bless you and your ministry! :)

Thank you brother Tim! That’s exactly what that passage says! Sometimes we think we can convince them, but NO! We can even make them angry and annoy people, if we are pushing it our way.I am from Ukraine and once was testifying to my wife’s uncle in Russia. I was talking a lot, brining up evidences, yet noting. I got to the point when I got mad, because he didn’t understand simple things. In the morning when I woke up Holy Spirit asked me, “What was that?” I was trying to explain, but the Lord said to me, “I am Jesus Christ, God c I couldn’t convince them, when I was on the Earth! Do you think you are a human can do that? Are you greater, than Me?”, and then He added, “No one can come to Me, if My Father, Who is in Heaven will call him.” I was humbled and gave up.

I'm so sad for Kevin Williams though I don't know exactly what happened to his theology, but concerning Tim, all I can do is praise God for his life. He's helped me in so many ways with his sermons. I love Paul Washer, R. C. Sproul and so many others as brothers in Christ, but God decided to use Tim to exhort me in so many moments: his summary about battling against sin, when he answered the email from a girl who was trying to be saved, it shone like a light in my darkness. It didn't help me at first, but when it did God was glorified and it's been like this for years. I deeply thank God for his life! I'm quite sure I won't meet Tim in this life, but in eternal life... Oh, glorious eternal life, we will be praising our God forever together!

Thank you so much I am one if those that speak to long to people. For me it's because I am trying to help them understand.
I share because I love and care for them.
But if they're not hungry I need to not give them God's food.
In public I see results just praying for people....
when I feel lead to ...
    when out and about .....
I have given to much information trying to help others see what they did not want to see. Over a period of
time.Spread my self thin trying helping...
them and giving when I thought they were in need.
And at one point they turn on me and attack me with out reason.and it crushes me for long periods of time. I guess it's like trying to give someone a hot fudge Sunday .when they don't want it .it's thrown in your face.

    Proverbs
    Chapter 13
1 A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.
2 A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.
3 He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
4 The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
5 A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.
6 Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.
7 There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.
8 The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.
9 The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
10 Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
11 Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.
12 Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.
13 Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.
14 The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
15 Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard.
16 Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly.
17 A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.
18 Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.
19 The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil.
20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
21 Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed.
22 A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
23 Much food is in the tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment.
24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
25 The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want.

I understand streetpreachers at pride parades but I also believe that these people are reprobate and usually end up attacking/clamoring/surrounding the preachers and the word of God gets drowned out.
This is a good example of pearls and swine parable.
One on one or two on two would be a better conversation Lord willing.

I've been thinking about that verse for the last few days. The CZcams algorithm must be looking at my google searches.
I've also thought that the "turning around" may refer to a pseudo-repentance (followed by a return to the vomit and mud), and that the "tearing apart" does not so much refer to an intentional aggression, but to the effect is has on a church if fake believers join its ranks. What do you think about that?
For anyone who knows German, last Friday I've written a poem on the topic referencing this and other verses: siquod.org/schlechtehirten

Pastor, in 2 Timothy 4 2, we are instructed to preach the word in and out of season. Are we also not to preach the Gospel, but just let sinners go to hell and allow 'dogs' and 'pigs' no hope of repentance? We are to emulate our Lord Jesus Christ who loved sinners so much He was crucified for them, forgiving them and appealing on their behalf even as they drove nails through His wrists. I thank Father for His mercy and grace and making a way where there was no way to reconcile lost souls back to wholeness in the Name of Jesus. Amen

I am reminded of Jesus calling a woman later a dog, and when she says "but even the dogs eat crumbs from the master's table." And then remarks upon her great faith.
I think to a degree Tim is right in that we can't keep pursuing the same people over and over again, but at the same time we certainly can't allow such rejection to burn us out where we just assume everyone is incapable of salvation. Idk

No. Repent. God loves you and wants a relationship with you. He doesnt love your sin but God did something amazing. For God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten Son that whosoever would believe in him would never perish but have everlasting life. Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came as God in the flesh. He lived a perfect sinless life. He taught people who to live and treat others. He was hated and was crucified and died on a cross for your sins, was buried and was resurrected on the 3rd day. We cant die for our own sins because we are not good people and needed a perfect sacrifice,in our place. Gods standard is perfection. Jesus taught to love your neighbor as yourself and to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. Us as humans are selfesh and rather love ourselves and the things that benefit us. Jesus said if your eye causes you to sin pluck it out. He also taught that hating someone in your heart is murdering them in Gods eyes and that lusting after someone is commiting adultery. Jesus loves you very much and can give you peace, love and joy. He can deliver you from addictions, suicidal thoughts and depression just like he did me. Repentance must be made though which is changing our mind and turning away from sin and changing the way we are going. We must be remorseful for sinning against a just and holy God who loves us and gave his life for us and was beaten, spit on and mocked so we can forgiven of our sins. Cry out to Jesus to forgive you of your sins confess Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead and you will be saved from Hell and be given Holy Spirit to dwell inside you and help you life a holy life.

Not necessary your point is wrong, He was 100% obedient to His Father and even to His death on the cross, if you read gospel, those religious people always come to Him, he wasn't walking after them, but Jesus was walking around cities, towns and villages to meet everyone, big difference. I hope this helped. Bless you.

People will take one bit of language and use that against you. One tiny phrase spoken a little incorrectly, and your whole point is taken out of context. Most people think scripture is about their interpretation, rather than the actual interpretation.
