Precisely. They don't take Josh seriously and kept trying to feed him various bullshit, when ironically, as Josh said he is the person to be taken seriously. Kendall is a worm and Logan is a dinosaur. The test was simple: "give me a straight answer, Kendall." All Kendall did was waffle like poorly constructed AI. Logan tried to give him some bs old school pitch. Josh didn't get to where he is by accident and they're fucking with his money. (They really tried to bs a man who became a billionaire from sensing bs)

The Nero and Sporus incident is mild compared to some of the things the Roman Emperors did. Some of the later emperors were extremely sadistic. That said, take the wild accounts of Nero with a grain of salt. A lot of the stories surrounding him were created by his enemies and the Roman elites. That isn't to say he was a good Emperor but he wasn't doing things like playing the lyre when Rome was burning. That's a myth.

He was the one who is said to have played the fiddle as Rome burned. Whether or not that is a fair characterization, that is what has been said.
Rome was originally established by the Etruscans. When it was originally founded, it was a kingdom then it became a republic and then it went back to being a kingdom. Or empire, if you’re nasty.

If anything this episode really shows how stubborn both Kendall and Logan are. Logan shouldn't have done the hike and Kendall shouldn't have let his dad look weak in front of Josh but because Logan wanted to show he was "fine" and Kendall kind of wanted to make his dad look bad, things played out. The start of the episode they were talking about how things looked messy and shareholders were worried, that situation really made what Sandy and Stewy were saying look even more realistic.

Definitely the best choice of anyone on the show.
No Gerri is just General Counsel, which is legal advice and not part of the actual business; you can question her business acumen just as you question Shivs since theyre both smart women but not inside the bubble of management or BOD.
Depending on what the filters we want to apply, CFO Karl, Chair Frank, ATN Head Tom would be the best alternatives; if only Rhea was still around...

They don't take Shiv seriously not because she's a woman but because ahe literally has zero authority. She's not anyone's actual boss. She's not CEO. She's "position they just made up" and everyone knows it.

They weren't being sexist toward Shiv. She has ZERO experience in their business and has no idea about its inner workings. The two old men weren't being sexist, she just wouldn't understand what they were discussing even if they had explained it her in detail. Kendall is the only one with any real experience, and Roman at least has business schooling and has been around the business more than Shiv. Shiv is more of a political scientist.
Roman had to go to corporate training. Kendall has the experience.

I think Pat hit the nail on the head. Shiv is new, she has no business education or experience. She goes in, hears that negotiations are fucked and whats her brilliant response? Go and fix it. No wonder nobody at the top takes her seriously.
The scene with her going into the ATN meeting also shows a lack of care. Yes, they control ATN. But the illusion of editorial freedom is important. She can meet Ravenhead whenever, she doesnt need to make a big show out of this.
Honestly, She could never win, if she isn't bossy, 'well, she is too fukin soft, they won't take her seriously if she behaves like a pussy', if she acts tough 'damn, she has an attitude, they won't take her seriously'. Add a sprinkle of sexism into the mix, she is doomed to fail.
That was a move out of weakness. One day of being undermined and she pulling it out. Logan set it up, I mean giving her a weird position with zero direction is not exactly on her.

I do think there was a bit of honesty in what Logan was saying about Kendall but it also plays into what he needed to say to convince the shareholder (Adrien Brody). You ask if that is the case he thinks Ken is the best then why string everyone else along?

Tom getting what he deserves. a weak spot, this storyline of him worried about prison. Yes people do go to prison for corporate crimes but no way a guarantee and they can fight it for extended period of time.

Logan’s conciliatory words to Kendall really hit me in the feels this episode. NGL i actually started to get teary eyed when I rewatched the episode. So it just hurt me a lot when shortly after that moment we see Kendall and Logan ripping at each other behind Josh’s back. I was especially shocked when Logan asked Kendall for water and he told him to get it himself. Regardless of how awful Logan is he’s still an old man and it’s human instinct to show concern for old people. I just rest on the hope that there’s still a kernel of love between the family members buried way down deep beneath all their poison to each other.
The old man is a monster and a terrible father. Old men don't deserve sympathy just for their age, like some golden ticket.

You guys need to watch the horror movie Annihilation. It's a sci-fi movie that definitely makes you think about life and reflect on poor choices and the people we surround ourselves with. It's also very psychological, but it doesn't stop it from being downright terrifying, and sometimes even profoundly beautiful.
The Tom prison thing is weird. Dude has not been charged or been suggested he will be any time soon. With the company and his money and lawyers that would be a long drawn out process unless they instruct him to fast track it. Acting as if it’s imminent is odd and good odds he would avoid jail time
that's why Shiv is so blasé about it.

No, he was about 400 years before the end. He was the final emperor of the first dynasty though. Honestly, the quality of the emperor had little impact on the ability of the empire to survive at that point, it just rolled on as batshit emperors came and went every other year.
No. He was a part of the first dynasty of the Roman Empire after many, many years of the Roman Republic. There were fires but they were put out.
