Good review, it makes sense that V1 is bouncier and has more pop than V2, as V1 has more PEBAX foam under the forefoot.
By increasing the drop in V2 it meant that they had to take out around 4 mm of foam from the forefoot as the heel stack remained the same

I loved the speed and leg saving benefits of v1 but struggled with the stability, I got v2 in the proto colour hoping it would be the same shoe just with added stability, but you nailed it when you said the magic has gone, it's not a strait upgrade. Sold mine, got the Endorphin Pro 3 and have money left over the grab the Speed 3, winner! "This is Mitch with believe in the run'!

I’m a tennis, basketball and cycling guy, not a huge runner, but this is an amazing shoe! Perhaps the lightest and most breathable athletic shoe I’ve ever worn. This is my second version and the best change that I’ve found was the added arch support. Beyond that it is an incredibly beautiful shoe!

Personally, I agree that the new one lacks the exaggerated bounce of the original, but I actually think that’s a good thing. I felt like too much of the bounce was directed vertically rather than forward in the original. The smoother and more forward-oriented roll of the new one gives me a lot more confidence on race day.

So I have always worn the vaporflys v2. But for some reason the arch feels way better for me on the alphaflys v2. Definitely right though in the fact that in that you don’t get such a responsive feel. I don’t think I would race in it but would be a great tempo or workout shoe for how long it lasts. I decided to race in them anyway. They were fine, but definitely not as much pop off the ball of the foot as the v1. And then I ended up with some fat blisters on my insteps on both feet. Looking inside of both versions of the shoe after the race, you can really see a huge difference in the arch/instep area. v2 did not agree with my foot and will be going back to Nike. $275+tax is way too much to pay for a shoe that causes blisters in any way. Now you tell me that the Alphafly 2 is disappointing.
Thank you, Jesus, my wallet will not be bursted, my marriage will not be in jeopardy, and I can keep on waiting for the new models of the Saucony Endorphin Pro 3 and the Endorphin Soeed 3, hoping they will not disappoint anyone.😅

I feel like this is the equivalent of the 911 turbo s in the car world. Supremely capable but compared to cars like the GT3, lambos, Ferraris, is just a bit too muted. The performance is definitely way up there but just not as much fuzzy warm feeling.

It felt much better than the 1 to me. I don’t know how you feel it lost pop when nothing changed except adding a little zoom X under the air pod. The arch feel seems to have more foam contoured up 8th the arch instead of just cutting in under it, which blistered me in the original.

    • @ehb6937

@@davidh5429 I hear you-the upper material is different, the toe drop is changed, and some other things, but in defense of my own comparison, the shoe still resembles its first iteration: still a high stack shoe with the AirPods and plate.
