  • Ceramic stains can add color to pottery. We will discuss Mason Stains, how to select them, and how to determine the best glaze to use them in.
High calcium cone six glaze: (cone 6, OX)
    G-200 Feldspar 46, Gillespie Borate 14, Flint (Silica) 20, EPK-Kaolin 18, Dolomite 6, Whiting 12.
Underglaze: (Makes 1 gal - Dry Formula) #= grams
    Flint (Silica) 600, Nepheline Syenite 500, EPK Kaolin 400, OM4- Ball Clay 400, Borax 100, Bentonite 120
    Add Epson Saltz 10, + 2% Macaloid Bentonite 42.
(The borax and Epson Saltz may need to be ground to be free of lumps and reduce the particle size)
I like to add a small amount of Spectrum Brushing Media # 1070.
