- After fixing the car up a little bit on the first two videos, we decided it was time to fix the brakes and steering. And attempt to get a tach and speedo working. And some new front tires and shocks even! We even snuck in a trip to The Swanks of Casselton, ND car show. As always, thanks for watching!

Mortske your videos are atleast half an hour too long.
Really appreciate your input. How’s everyone else feel about the video lengths?
@@MortskeRepair doesn’t matter to me, if it’s a long video, I just watch it in sections
This is what happens when ur single lol!!
@@MortskeRepair Im good with longer videos, as long as the content stays solid.
Lol
"Great Value version of a bandit". I just about spit my coffee out! 😂😂I've used Inline Tube kits before. They have always fit really good! And for the money, they are a time saver. Definitely want to see more of Dirt Reynolds! Thanks for the awesome content Mortske and Duff!
Not gonna lie keep restoring this piece of work, I absolutely love it.
nooo!! haha
I would love to see it restored as a 10th anniversary! Such a cool car!
I was wearing my mountain dew Mortzke Repair shirt I just received last week at the gas station. Lady asked me if Mortzke Repair was the new hard liquor mountain dew drink. I laughed and said yes. Lmao
Heck ya!
🗿👍 Heck yeah, lol
@@MortskeRepair I would've called this thing. The PPE(Purple People Eater)
Gotta like the Dirt Reynolds dollar general edition, I'm sure a ebay turbo kit would spice it up and shake some rust out of it's chassis.
I think Duff overheard you talking about how the car would “taco” in a crash and that’s why he remained in the backseat 😆 big fan of the Dirt Reynolds! Turbo? Heck yeah!! And thank you Chin for taking us to the car show!! 👍🏻
I do love me some Fish Tacos mmmmmymmmy
I hope that pup never loses his comedic timing. 😆
Old pudding told me to tell you about some cragers rims 😮🎉
😂 lmao 🤣
Cragers and white letter out...😂
I choose steel white spoke style wheels and aluminum magnesium slot style wheels, and gm Vette,Monte Carlo and Camaro style rally wheels.. and I actually prefer cragar street tricks and centerline auto drag aluminum wheels over cragar ss and keystone classic wheels..
Roll the cragars to the kegger...
Another awesome Monday episode in the bag, thanks Mort. (And thanks Chin for the car show footage. Some beautiful stuff there).
Duff poking his head over the seat was hilarious 😂 I can only imagine all the smells out there. Nice work on Dirt Reynolds! Thanks for sharing Mort! 👍😎 Heal fast!! 🦶
Thanks 👍
You could stifn it up with cheap frame connecters, put a hitch on it and pull a uhaul trailer load of sammiches back from Colorado.🗿 Thanks for sharing Mortske
Another Mortske adventure 😊 just the greatest! 👍
Enjoy!
Mojo's head handle is simply awesome! I think 2nd gen. Firebird are unibody but with Duff's advice and Mojo's expertise, you could make it like that blue Trans am at the beginning of Chin's car video. 👍
That car definitely looks purple
They are unibody but they have front and rear subframes for suspension attachment. Structural rigidity is not a strong point even in cars that don't have T-tops. Subframe connectors strongly recommended!
Mortske Monday !! , Thanks for kicking off the week in grand style , the Trans Am is now road worthy and ready to tackle Americas highways . Also Chin did a fine job at Casselton catching some fine shots of the auto show , I'm impressed . Till next time, Stuart in Ontario..
I am not a F-body guy. But I love a dirt Reynolds episode!
Gotta love how you and Puddin' bicker back and forth. Let's be honest, if you worked down the street from one another you wouldn't get anything done. Keep up the great work man!
Very true
He is enjoying himself that is what keeps him and makes him happy. Keep going. Lower the motor and put a hood on it. 72-74 hood. Dual scoops and mo power.
Growing up as a teenager S. E. Texas in the 70s.
My cousin was a little older had a 74 T. A. W/O the bird on the hood. It was awesome then he traded it in for a 1978 T. A. With T tops and all the bells and whistles and emblems.
Not to be out done his cousin bought a 1976 Z28 with the 4speed..
The T. A. Smoked the small block every time..
We had one hell of a lot of fun in both of those hot rods..
They got smoked by 1976 SS Chevell with the cowl induction and 454..
Then our other buddy would barrow his mom's 4 door T bird and the smoke the T. A. ..Not the Chevell. However his 1974 Cougar with a big Block and a tunnel ram Smoked Everything..
I digress, as I am an old fart.
God bless you and your loved ones
Godspeed
Keep going with it love the dirt Reynolds stuff I'm personally a fan of purple but black would be much easier please keep it going regardless you know you love that thing
I’m afraid I have just noticed your sub count, astounded so few of us appreciate you! You are certainly one of the better content providers, thank you!
Wondered the same thing myself!
I see this too. It’s weird how low it is.
He talks to normal an is not that funny, but I'll watch sometimes an works on junk that won't go anywhere, clean , fix, upgrade, makem cool 😎. Sell. Next..
Acquired taste... Old morskei.. Like puddin..
@@user-427.commodore but surely one which should be acquired? I have learned more about US vehicles watching Mortske than ever I could otherwise, and grateful for it! Best regards.
I’m really liking this one. I’d like to see it fixed up a bit. Flat black with some new floors and a 77-78 nose.
Another Monday morning made much better by Mortske Repair! Entertaining as always, thanks for the video.
All you had to do to replace the sector shaft seal was pull the pitman arm, the snap ring, fill the power steering fluid, start the engine, and peg the wheel in either direction, rev the engine a few times. The old seal will blow right out
Had to replace the bolts anyhow. I've tried said method with no such luck however.
@@MortskeRepair I know you had to replace the one you broke lmfao
That engine sitting up that high would drive me crazy
#MeToo
Me to I would change the mounts and put a nice trans am hood back on it.
I’m really hoping to enjoy Mortske Repair Mondays in future as well, so the subtle hidden safety hints were noticed! Thanks man! 😂👍🏼👍🏼
nice show shot there Chin and real nice improvements on the ol Bert good to see Duff. cheers morts.
Only thing missin is a good set of cragers!
@@happyjohn8256 Yep the Kregars are just great.
that would look good with Crager SS Mags
or Cragar even.
This car is fantastic!!!! Finally you have a car you can show off at car shows and take on power tour.
Mortske, it's your car you do what you want with it. I do like seeing you patch it up. Steering, rust. Whatever else goes into value restore on the ol' Dirt Reynolds. Thanks for the content on this one.
HEY! Good morning and thumbs UP!!
Good morning!
Thanks for another great Mortske Monday! Plus a big thanks to the editing department 🐾🍺
Duff riding with his head hanging out in the backseat made me smile !! 👍
The best!
Nice work on the sound track Chin!!!!
Always a great Monday, with Morske in the morning, and Puddin in the Evening! 😊
" Way Less SKETCHY" 4 minutes in and we have welded studs ladies and gentlemen!
Duff's axe work is excellent 👌 now he is getting used to his prosthetic thumbs and mojo's drumming is fantastic 😊
Sitting here watching Monday morning mortske while wearing my mortske t shirt 😅. You the man
I must admit watching you do more to this car is awesome and it being a 10th anniversary even makes it better well so does the Ttops
Mortske, you could get the intake off a hummer H2, it would put the intake off to the passenger side where the old trans cooler was, and they came with the 6.0 from 03-05 and the 6.2 from 06-08 so they should work
She's a cool project love seeing her. Every time I see the Bump-Side I love her even more !
I'm all in on this one. Floor pans, front end, paint, and fix that damn headliner!
Definitely she is worth getting her in better shape. What you have done to her already, she is worth it now.
Mojo's little "hehe!" never fails to make me smile
Get ole' Purp tagged and get yourself a Diablo sandwich there Mr. M at the local Choke-n-Puke!🤠😎
I worked on some GM shafts and I believe some did not slide. They had two nylon pins that broke on impact that allowed the shaft to retract.
The duff cam is such a welcomed addition
First time ever I have seen a bolt on head lifting hand hold handle. I have always done and seen people only using their hands with associated smashed fingers to remove and install heads. That little tool is slick! ❤
Right on
I used to make those rag joints out of tire sidewall they were better than the ones I bought from the auto store.
A little bit thicker and stiffer but they worked just as well.
Mortske Monday with dirt Reynolds that’s a great way to radically start this week
The 77 with a shaker hood is my absolute favorite. My 77 was metallic gold with t-tops, honey comb wheels. I absolutely loved it and if I ever find another one in good shape I'm going to buy it.
My vote is for putting it back to grey and trying to get something that resembles a hood on it, plus you have to put an Alpine deck and some wicked 6x9's in there!!
Good call
Glad you’re doing more with old dirt too. I’m not a big fan of mid late 70s cars but it’s pretty cool gotta admit it.
Right on!
Another brilliant show buddy, why don't you do it as a tribute Bandit car with the big chicken but throw a couple of big turbos on it, I know that's a half-and-half suggestion but I would love to see one of these with a suspension job so it can handle and the turbos so that would make its sound more dirty Reynold's than dirt. Anyway loved the show and I hope the leg gets better soon. All the best from Scotland.
As far as the frame flex goes...just put a center section frame kit in. It will stop flexing and improve the handling. 😊
I bought and installed them on my 87 trans am!! It wasn't a t-top but the power cracked the roof in the rear of the window corners
Time to make the mullet a permanent thing by growing out your hair, Mortske!! I hope between now and your run to Colorado for some sammiches, you can convince one of your buddies to team up with you to include an 18 wheeler for an epic round trip future video with you, Duff and Dirt Reynolds……east bound and down, loaded up and truckin’ 🏎️🚛🚔😂
My past experience with these cars and the body flex sub frame connector helps so much peace
Another great episode on good old Dirt Reynolds! Ya know a turbo or two just might be what that ride needs and maybe a nose. Thanks for the ride, sure looked like ol’ Duff enjoyed it too! Thanks to Chin for walking us through some awesome old iron, man where do people find that stuff?! Great video Great content! Keep ‘em coming Mortske!
Oh yeah!
The steering shaft is only supposed to collapse during a collision. It has injection molded plastic pins that keep it from sliding back and forth during normal operation. During a collision, these plastic "shear pins" shear allowing the shaft to telescope. You melted the plastic shear pins with your torch, that's what the plastic goop was you saw. LOL.
There is just something about it that makes ya smile. Duff seems to love it. You look like you enjoy it. Yes to paint. Anything but purple. Unless you lose interest before then. 😉
Thanks Chin!
Right on
Sorry about your leg hope it gets better, I started watching you when puddin mentioned the Mortski flick and I have been a fan since.
Much appreciated
Morning Mr Mortske and Duff from Alabama
7:45 love Inline Tube !! Great stuff.
Sweet burn out especially like the weight reduction allowing said tire smoke to exit in odd places
10th anniversary silver with the interior! Leave the name and turbo up that 4.8!!! Go get it Mortske!!!
Please don’t mess with that infection! Friend of mine lost his leg. Thinking he could be the dr. Meds and see dr if it isn’t looking better quickly
Can’t wait to see what your plans are with Dirt Reynolds’s! Great car show footage Chin!
Mortske💯❤your work on these classic cars😮
Thanks for another great episode Duff and Mortske!
Our pleasure
54:40 next time try a 2 inch pipe or even a jack handle depending on how much room you have and roll it along the tire inbetween the fender. Makes a decent fender roller in a pinch. They sell those tools you can bolt on the hub but i never had good luck with those
Baseball bat works good too.
Moterbike Mike here, Dude you could have threw a little berring grease on them bearings while you were there. Lol your a beast mortske
Nahhh
As always, great video. Thanks for the car show Chin. 👍
You bet
Love the fact that this paints a very real picture of keeping up with any old hot rod, especially an LS swapped one. Great episode and looking forward to more updates on all the projects. Love that you keep it real!
Keep jackin with it. It looks like you guys are havin fun. Just see if you can kinda keep improving on it on the cheap.
Great job really brings back some memories never owned a f body but rode in em plenty ...cruised the local ave . In buddy black ta and had my poor man gto lemans lol those were the best days ...thanks for the hard work and hope leg is getting better ..I say continue on dirt reynolds anyway you see fit with your takent could be a real hot rod .
good times!
Would a set of sub frame connectors help with the body flex?
cragar wheels, flexy hoses, and locking nuts are my favorite, too! Mortske 😂
Lots of good work and a bit less yakking on this video, great work. 👍
As always ,good stuff. Duff looked happy as hell today .lol
My friend used those Brake lines kit on his suburban excellent Kit Mortske Dirt Reynolds Coming along nicely
Great video brother. I love "Dirt Reynolds ". That music you had during the video was rocking! I do miss the intro though. Have a great week!
Thanks 👍
The headlights were closer together on the 1977 model. You might have to replace many more parts than you want to if you want to use the older front end.
Njoy the fact that you are slowly rebuilding such a great iconic car from the 1970's.
Get the basics done first.
Then the Finnishing details.
The car deserves proper body work and a great paint job.
Lower the engine to a proper mounting height. Install the hood without the shaker hood scoop option. Fix the headliner. Make the gauges functional .
Then you should have a nice going to town sports car.❤
You've certainly made this less of a liability on the road. I can understand and respect you not wanting to sell this to anyone else though as although it's better, it's still not ' great ' , and in the wrong hands may not end so well. I'm guessing it would take many hours and $$$ to get this ' solid ' again and it's not really worth the investment; what you've done is make it good enough to enjoy and not worry about it too much.
Great content as always
Hey Mort did you get a sponsor for that rock music OMG i can't get that tune out of my head now😂
Mr. Mortske,
My first car in 1978 was the infamous Chevy Vega hatchback GT, which I managed to scorch the block (big surprise) but I did the intelligent thing any 21 yr old would do in 1981. I put a new crate 283 truck motor in her. I say all that to tell you I had to modify the steering rack too, and do the same thing (torch) I was informed that older DD shafts have a wax based filler inside to prevent rusting- not like Vegas rusted. I did have one of the cleanest V8 Vegas around So Cal. Hope this helps?
Nice
'Go Hard or Go Home' is one of my favourite mantras, maybe not with kick ball, maybe not when you're old. 😅🤣
Exac
I have a 78 Firebird and I love these episodes.
Building this out as a "Great Value" Bandit/Dirt Reynolds sounds like a great idea for a video series.
Sounds like you've been watching Peg's channel since the metal music on the tire r&r
I vote for Great Value Dirt Reynolds with a turbo. Also need to add "don't be a chad" decals, lol.
Hello Mortske &Duff Chin, MoJo. The Dirt Renyolds is turning g out to be a Prince of a vehicle. Brakeline kit certainly the way to go unless you like bending & flaring. Duff comfortable enough he went for a snooze. It will be a good sport about when done. But Dam what a difficult choice in colour. Looking forward to seeing this one finished.
The green and gray wagon at the end wow what a paint job ❤🏴🏴
I bet that thing is a blast! Hope the leg heals up quickly. You must have been going "full throttle!"
Only way to go
Duff knows what it's live,. and when to play! Great evening to you all.
You too!
@@MortskeRepair I Thank you two for more than Subscription holders TV. As always great stuff!
Burt would be proud of that burnout ,knowledge is always a good thing liked the car show to and Duff is Kool 😊
You got that right!
Dirt Reynolds rules Mortske!!! Thank's for continuing to work on er!!! Mr. Reynolds is smiling dwn on ya my friend.
Saw some cool looking old classic tin side house trailers in the background as you were rolling into town. They still had their anodized trim and they looked to actually be in decent maintained shape.
Great Value Bandit is a cool idea! Thank you for your work, sir! I have learned a lot
My pleasure!
Great video. If I never that time lapse music again I will be a happy man!!
Good to know
As a former 79 & 80 Firebird owner, I approve of this video! Great to see Dirt Reynolds get some love.
Right on!
