I love the Law ending of this game so much. It's the only time I have ever seen a game let you shoot a laser at the Earth to wipe out all life on it, then act like you did the right thing afterwards.
Without having experienced any of the story these endings are insane!

I love this song!!! it makes me think about my mortality and what matters in life. When I have conversations with people in Discord this song helps me respond calmly and briefly.

After a LOT of thinking, I finally know what ending I would choose. Chaos.
It took me a long time to figure out because I didn't want to commit genocide, but I didn't want to be neutral either... But that's when I remembered. Mutants are humans, just on a different evolutionary branch. So even if everyone on the Upper city is killed... Humanity will go on in the new world, just on a different form.

@Randy Ferrell Problem with that is that Satan is perfectly fine with it until the last possible moment. He's devoted even.
In all three endings Aleph gets revenge on god.
@Randy Ferrell Unlikely. Backlash from whom? Less than one percent of Japanese (the only target audience they cared about at the time) is Christian, and Atlus doesn't really have a tendency to consider an international market during the development phase (which would have ended up a moot point for this game, anyhow).
'sides, IV Apocalypse released and there's no backlash over _that_ one, either.
@Randy Ferrell it seems to me a relatively simple case. The lord's directives are to be followed. Satan followed the "kill the vermin" directive, but then still stuck to the "judge all" directive, too.
Do we really need a reason to explain why we kill the sudden freaky mutant head thing that pops up out of nowhere?
I can't wait for a remake of this, the graphics and music are nothing like modern SMT!

This is the first time I didn't like the neutral ending of an smt game and i am a neutral fan, opted for Chaos instead which is the best outcome imo while Law is just insane why would I massacre all those innocent people...

I mean, in chaos, demons are still a thing, meaning that Luci is still a thing, as well that, remember that he is a part of YHVH, so not killing him will bring the other half back or be a reminder of YHVH never letting him to truly die

Besides Strange Journey, SMT II definitely did alignments the best
Chaos definitely, but Law... not so much. This is arguably one of the worst depictions of the Law alignment in the series.
@@GaeaRage0798 I think it has a really interesting take on Law, it isn't just depicted as a full resignation of free will to god, but instead trying to restart with some knowledge of the old world and living by gods teachings, which I think is a much more compelling take on Law than the alternative (though I think that I, and most other people, would still much rather take the Chaos or Neutral endings).

I don't think it is any specific character. I think it's just a reference to the title being "Shin Megami Tensei" which means The New Reincarnation of The Goddess.
