Interesting fact about Mexico City Metro, each station has a unique symbol to help identify it, as there was a low literacy rate back in the 60's so they created pictograms to help navigation.
Though nowadays most people know how to read, they are so useful and successfull that they stuck around and pretty much every mass-transport system in the country uses their own symbols.
Great video, as always.
Thats very interesting!
@@MetroLiner Could you make a video about Dubai Metro please?
@@16yago you can’t tell me that 5 lines of a metro that is very bad designed is interesting to watch
@@16yago Dubai has a subway system?
@@MetroLiner MetroCucumber made a better version of London Transit! Here is link: czcams.com/video/vV8Q2084C2s/video.html
As shown on your video, Mexico City Metro was once a marvel of engineering and planning, so far as to influence other transportation systems across the region. Sadly, the last few administrations disregarded the Metro, not only stunting its growth but even letting it fall in disrepair, and instead built many BRT lines, which is not a bad mode in itself but clearly insufficient for a 20M inhabitants megalopolis.
Cd. México en 1969: 0 líneas de Metro 🤔
Cd. México en 1970: 3 líneas de Metro 🤩
So fast
So very fast
Cd. México en 2012: 12 líneas de Metro 🤩
Cd. México en 2021: 11 líneas de Metro 😶

Ciudad de México 1970-1990: 😎
Ciudad de México 1999-2012: ⚰️
Some of Line 12 is temporarily out of service because of the train derailing recently. It's so sad to hear about that incident. There are also some commuter rail services out of Mexico City, one of them is the line to Toluca that's under construction. A line to Puebla would also be excellent.
Not precisely a derailing but the structure itself collapsed due to accumulated stress and damage after the 2017 earthquake that went unrepaired. A sad tragedy because 26 people lost their lives.
It grew a lot during the '80s! I wish we had another decade like that!
It is interesting to see how metro systems have certain periods of rapid expansion. This is also noticeable in other cities as well.
It's very curious because Mexico went through a terrible economic crisis during these years, which shows that poor economy is not an excuse for lack of investment in transportation
The Mexico City Metro also uses Bombardier (now Alstom) tire-trains which are also used in the Paris and Montreal metro systems. The fare for the Mexico City Metro is still at 5 pesos which is 25 US-cents.
If possible, it would be cool to see how the number of passengers changes over time!
You mean number of ridership, right??
Pretty much packed trains from the beginning, except Line 3 (when it ran from Tlatelolco to Hospital General), line 4 and 6. Of course, overall ridership has grown accordingly (or exceeding) to the growth of the network and city itself.
To me mexico city metro is among the best in the world . It's efficient, clean. sadly its underestimated and overlooked .
Agreed
"...and its future expansion plans are shown in this animation."
And no future extensions are shown in this video though?!
Here's Mexico City Subway!
It is incredible how a citizen of Mexico City has grown "El Metro" (as it is called daily), in an impressive way, and the lines missing. There is a master plan in place with a horizon to the year 2040, 5 new lines will be built and lines 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, B and 12 will be expanded. Now the only expansion that is being built is that of the Line 12 to Observatorio. Greetings for Mexico.🇲🇽.
Greetings for you
@@ECD007 Thank you very much friend.
Line 12 closed for a time due to infrastructure problems in the elevated sections
And closed since May 2021, after a section of elevated part fell off due to bad construction, corruption and mismanagement.
😢

I like the new display too, less overall movement of the screen and it’s good for the eyes
Glad you liked it! It is definitely less jarring.
1. great to see another video from you.
2. Your style has improved so much it'll soon be worth re-doing your early videos!
I would love to re-do some of the older videos like New York and London with the new graphics!
Not a single closure of stations or segments since 1969, you can really see that the planning of the metro was incredibly perfect.
It's not shown here, but line 12 has been closed for quite a lot, first because of deformations, and then later (right now) due to a collapse. Really shoddy work
@@josanikik definitely a concern there, but I think the commenter is referring to the de-commissioning of lines, line shutdowns or shrinkage of mass transit systems that, sadly, was a trend in late 20th century cities all around the world.
I really liked the music that you used for this video
Really like how it evenly spreads across the city while linking outer lines to each other, instead of just jutting out in random directions and just going straight to the center of the city.
Like Chicago
For when a video of the (slow) evolution of the Buenos Aires subway? It's very interesting! Greetings from Argentina!
Danke! Frohe Weihnachten!
Thanks for vídeo Bro i am mexican and really thank you for being it I was looking forward to it 😁
Thank you, I was expecting this.
Mexico City is a really nice place. I have never been there but being the biggest metro system in Latin America is a big accomplishment. Can you make Istanbul Metro in your next video? There are a lot planned routes in Istanbul.
the history of the Istanbul metro starts in 1875 and planned lines end in 2030
Correct
I love this new format! Keep using it for future videos.
Thanks!

Aaaw yes I’ve been waiting for this one!
Super cool video!
Yay, Metro Liner is back!
Wow...The video is incredible, I like the new display of the videos
Thank you! I hope you liked the new format of the video as well! I switched the main screen and the small screen so the overview of the system is now in the main screen and zoomed-in map is in the small screen.
Very nice!
I preferred having one big map zooming in and out. Now the bigger map is so washed out. You can barely make out names and features.
Sorry you didn’t like the new format. I will try using a higher resolution map for the main screen next time

I was waiting for this video on the Mexico City metro.
that logo on thumbnail reminds me of Xiaomi

I prefer the earlier look for the animation. Cool video as always :-)
Since 2000, the Mexico City only opens the line 12. 21 years and only 1 line? Why the extentions are so slow recently?
The rest of the network was constructed in 32 years (1969-2000), much faster.
the left administration (PRD-Now "Morena") seized the control of the city for the last 25 years, it fits perfectly their goverment with the slow expansion of the metro network
Can you do Rome or Milan?
Can you also do one of the moscow metro system, plsss
Please, make one about the Caracas Metro
Can u do Bay Area rapid transit (BART)
Why A and B and not 10 and 11

Hi Metroliner I wanted to ask, how did you make this amazing animation?
I use adobe after effects.
Please do Moscow metro!
Actually in 1970 line 2 opened between Pino Suarez and Tas(x)queña, and line one opened Juanacatlan station as terminus until 1971 when line 3 opened between Tlatelolco and Hospital General, line 2 extended to tacuba and Line 1 to Tacubaya. In the 80’s and 90’s there were official plans to have Mexico City with 17 metro lines and 10 light rail lines, aswell as 3 suburban rail lines for 2020 with branches, but there were never taken by the government and instead focused in BRT which opened in 2005 and solving the hyperinflation of 1989 and the TLC (Free Trade of Comerce which opened the Mexican market to international comerce) in 1994 and “buliding Line 12” which ended up with over costing, bad quality of construction and then 2021 brought to see the level of disrepair that the metro was left over the years with the fire of the control station that stopped the service and used soap bars and phone calls to have the service running as well as the Line 12 collapse, and extensions replace with elevated brt lines which ended up collapsing aswell. Even when the mayor of Mexico City sayed that they wanna repair the metro, as they found it in corruption and disrepair they repaired the light rail line and. The Trolleys which were in worse situations than the metro but the metro is suffering that.
Clearing up some things, the construction of Line 2 started in Tasqueña and ended in Pino Suarez, a few months after it expanded to Tacuba and finally reached Cuatro Caminos a year later

As a mexican I´m happy with our metro system, I konw thats no perfect. But i've some conection with Metro of CDMX, Thanks for this video I was waiting for, 'cause also it's a great system to study and watch.
Can you please make a video about Moscow metro?
I’ve been working on it!
Shanghai next?
Maybe Warsaw, Poland? Its history starts in 1924, but the opening after 12-year build time was in 1995. It's not as big as London or Mexico, but it is definitely interesting.
Why are the two lines 'A' and 'B' not numbered like the others? Are they different in some way?
Because they would work like commuter trains, since they leave from the limits of Mexico City
please do istanbul metro
please Prague Metro 1974-2022-2100
fun fact: no one uses the line 4
Can Hong Kong be the next city?

Please Kolkata metro PR video bno
Can't wait for Moscow and Saint Petersburg.
More American stuff please?
There is something wrong with line 12, there was a serious accident where a "metro" (I mean the train) fell apart because it was poorly built and they decided to remove the entire line 12 because it was poorly built
Next video is milan italy 🇮🇹
