Give the Bruins some credit. They have a system, all players have bought into it, they have good leadership, culture, work their butts off for full 60 minutes. Leafs are not losing to a sht team. They were 5 points away from being the #1 overall team in the standings. Leafs refuse to change their style and approach for playoffs, and a lot of that is on Keefe, who should have been let go 2 years ago.

Fire another coach when you are losing with the same core 4? That makes no sense, it has never been a coaching problem, it’s a player problem.
@@johnq2068 I disagree. Keefe is not a NHL level coach and never has been. He does things that make no sense what so ever. A system is required. What system does Keefe have? They need to have a better PK and PP. Isn't this the coaches job? The power play is terrible and has been for more than half the season with no corrections mad. Don't tell me Keefe isn't an issue.

Joe Woll has Jordan Binnington type potential. He really has the abiity to steal games. I'm a Habs fan, and its a longshot but he has star potetial and we may see a star being born tomorrow night if he stays in the moment.
Binny had a good start and went to shits after his contract. Woll proved nothing so far. Guy can't even play 30 games a season, career filled with injuries.
Appreciate the sentiment if it's sincere. But it's a long shot and he's injury prone. Ok here I'll say something nice about mtl. Loved Roy and Carbanneau growing up.

Should be able to handle that...Yeah - the more Cabonneaus's you have, the greater your chance of having a Roy - meaning most fans don't realize the amount of structure and attention to detail from the team it takes just to give a goalie a chance to thrive.
I feel like Woll has never had a fair shake at the role. I feel like if they gave him a proper chance, he could be starter material. Maybe he'll get his chance now, but for all the wrong reasons.

Times are different, the team Dr makes all decisions concerning injuries and illnesses. Insurance companies demand the risks be reduced, Baun had none of that, and was paid about 15 grand a year, as opposed to Matthews millions . If Matthews is ill and it's contagious, do you really want him in the dressing room?
No clue but i know that the Blackhawks in one of the later cup runs oduya played with snapped tendons for 3 rounds hjalmarson injured his Larrynx badly blocking a slapper to the throat t the point he couldn’t speak for a week and didn’t miss a game. Champs are gunna have to play through injuries.

The more games Toronto wins (unless they get past round 2) the less chance there is for changes.
Keefe (and probably marner) is gone unless they make the conference finals regardless of how many games they win.
The biggest thing I hated about them winning last year was that I feel like it prevented the Leafs from doing the changes they needed to make this year. Instead, they've lost a lot of potential for dumping cap and gaining a lot of picks. Unfortunately, because the Core 4 are now under no move contracts, that means the ability for the Leafs to do anything about it is pretty much gone. The NMC makes it nearly impossible to move them, and even if they did, their trade value is much lower because of that clause.
One thing's for sure, this offseason is going to be a reckoning. Very good chance there's going to be a buyout if they can't convince them to drop their NMC. And out of the Core 4, I remember how insufferable monitor was with his contract negotiations. He's in it for the money, not the team. The only way to get him out is through a buyout. And, to be frank, the team may be better for it.

Samsnov flops and is overactive in the net and makes everyone nervous. Woll is much calmer in net and is much more composed. Samsonov is like Freddy Andersen, soft ass goals that kills the team in the playoffs.
There are a number of players making over $10mil. If they want the money, they need to put forth an effort equal to it! Everyone is monotone and lifeless because their captain is like that. Fans need to see a real effort and passion!

the Amerks totally lit up Woll in last years AHL playoffs..the guy is also made of glass..would not surprise me at all if he gets injured tonight..Matthews agreed, best goal scorer in hockey and is capable of much better under a real coach but Woll is a huge stretch

No matter how great of a miracle goaltending you're gonna get, you can't win if you don't score goals, scoring 1 goal a game isn't going to cut it.
How is it that the net minders and the D core are always in question?? They don't score in the playoffs. Maybe they blame the back end because if they give up 3 goals they will lose. So many excuses every year.

I know that it is a easy answer, but think about it. first it was management so they change it, then it was coaching so they changed it, than its no key players, so they changed it. and so on and so on. Nothing works. Once a team makes the playoffs, they need to beat in a series 4 other teams to win the Stanley Cup, let that sink in just a second. That is 1 more than the entire league back in the Early 60's, which was the last time a Toronto Maple Leaf team won a Cup. So what really needs to change is the Team! Sell Them, move them, change the home ice, Change the team colors. But just get rid of the franchise and bring in some thing completely new. How many NEW Franchises have won a Cup since the Leaf's last won? Almost all of the new franchise teams have. The last team to win was St. Louis and they were one of the first new teams to be added and even they finally won again Before the Leaf's. IT's the Franchise, Get rid of the entire Franchise. Right down to the door man , the janitor, hell even the bricks in the building. Its time to flood someone's back yard and start developing 5 year old's, who have no clue who the LEAFS WERE, they will never be again the team we all deserve. Thank you and Good Bye Leaf's.

That recent argument on the bench looked to be between Matthews and Nylander. I think the real issue is being masked. Nylander missing the first 3 games and coming back and doing nothing substantial maybe be the issue. The leafs were only down 2-1 without Nylander. With Nylander, they are down 3-1.
