As someone who grew up with a Goldie I can think of no better babysitter. My partner in crime through my whole childhood and hopefully one day we'll meet again
I have never had a golden but have never met one that wasn't friendly. I once told a golden owner that goldies were what you would get if you could take the emotion of love and put it in physical form wrapped in golden hair.

I was thinking of the baby growing up and wishing she'd always have Whiskey. I guess, in a way, she will. It isn't hard to believe we will meet again with our pets who went before we did. In the meantime the world will have another animal lover in Ally. ❤

Things like this are why it's easier to love pets over people these days
100% Through the centuries of domestication, dogs have become so in tune with us that they recognize what a baby is and how gentle they need to be. They're probably the most empathetic animal.

They're so gentle with each other. Usually toddlers are rough with animals , but she's so gentle with him. It was so cute when she fed him. They have a great bond

It wasn't uncommon for families in the past to keep a dog in the house as a sort of nanny if they couldn't afford to hire a full-time nanny or nurse (like Nana in Peter Pan) due to their protective and nurturing instincts

True story. My dad was born in 1929, to very young parents in a small Southern town. They were both teetolers (not too surprising, and this was during the last days of Prohibition). When my dad was a toddler, he was outside playing in the front yard and loudly saying, “whiskey, whiskey, whiskey!” when their preacher came to visit. 😂😂. My grandma was so embarrassed, esp bec my grandpa thought it was funny and would tease her about it. I hope Whiskey is her first word! That would be awesome.
It has been a couple of years since I cried watching a video. This was the sweetest thing I have seen. I had just lost my dog Gus and I needed to watch this.

@@domoru5264 You can't replace a heart dog but you could become the heart for the next one.
I lost my heart in 2018 but I became the heart for my new best friend I rescued from a bad place. That became someting that mattered more than my own loss and grief and because of it we've mutually made each others lives better.
Being the heart for another is a worthy cause that I plan to continue filling my life and home with.

Such a sweet & loving relationship. Similar to the one between my daughter, Molly, and Sparkie, our devoted Australian Shepherd mix. Update: Sparkie lived to be 17, and Molly is a 4th year veterinary medical student at the top vet school in the world.

This video brought happy tears to my eyes. When I was born, my parents had a boxer dog. I grew up with him displaying this kind of love and care for me until we had to put him down when I was in kindergarten. I will never forget what a good dog and big brother he was to me.
