This woman is so vibrant. She radiates femininity and energy ♡ I never really understood why movement and motion, especially in women is so important. Being a woman is like being a river; when you are stagnant you invite disease and sickness and death. When you are moving, rushing, gushing you invite life, healing, and fertility. I especially loved when she said not to push people out of your way eith your elbows like a man, but to use your hips! Something about it resonated with me

Loved it!!! Brought tears to my eyes. I didn't consciously realize that I have been repressing my femininity. I know it's a kind of defense, not showing femininity. I embrace it now, I am physically strong, very intelligent, and now I can fearlessly embrace my natural femininity!!!

Funny thing is this proved her point exactly! This was shot in the Netherlands. I'm from there and I feel less of a woman here than in any country I have been in. We are expected to be all the same, to meet each other in the middle. In general, women lost a part of their femininity and men lost a part of their masculinity.

I'm an American woman and I think she's very much correct. We may not have to cover our hair, but here the veil has been internal. And it's just as effective. I've felt discouragement of my natural femininity since I was a child. I've never been able to be proud to be a woman. I have large breasts but when I tried to shake like this woman in the video, I realized how constricting my bra is because I'm ashamed when my boobs bounce in public.
I know, in Europe it's the same. It's really sad. But times are definitely changing now, there are so many ressources for us now to reconnect to our feminine power. Look up Layla Martin for example, she's awesome.

I’m a U.S. plus size woman. I’m not ashamed of my body, but I do feel self conscious. My body/figure type is very rounded everywhere. Bust, backside, tummy. In my 20’s the “menswear look” was fashionable and I couldn’t make it work. I’m a bookworm and enjoy learning. I think I confuse people because I look and dress soft, romantic and feminine, but I can competently listen, follow and discuss various topics, am clever with computers and other technology. It’s like people think I’m “fooling” them with my appearance.
I don’t see why I can’t be clever and intellectual AND a feminine, sensuous woman.

I can most people are afraid of themselves and really are not open and self assured as she is. The world would be better if we ditched our repressiveness, believed in us and refused to be influenced by society. Ladies just roar. :)
I would have been the same or died of embarrassment
This talk is great. There is deeper truth here. There is still a lot of progress to be made for both men and women. Part of what she is saying is that some things have to be understood experientially. Hence the dancing. The more hurt someone is, the more they have to react to this kind of thing as if it were an attack ... Whether that's by as strong as a physical lashing out or just as symbolic as writing in all caps :) the masculine and feminine are both beautiful and sacred energies. When we stop hurting each other and start to appreciate, it is going to be really amazing.
That's true and she's showing such a powerful performance even though, unfortunately, the audience is barely following her in this.
The display of femininity was so powerful that honestly, it was hard not to stop and stare in awe. The audience was supposed to be dancing, but you can see that they couldn't get themselves to even take their eyes off of this powerful creation embracing her natural element. I am so happy to have come across such an inspiring woman as a young lady. I will from now on push aggressively with my hips.

I love my feminity and I embrace it but how to be feminine in a world where men stare at you, make inappropriate comments, touch you or intimidate you? I feel vulnerable when I get all kinds of unwanted attention, due to the fact men can't contain themselves. This video made me realise how much I've been hiding my feminity because of this.
I'm not talking about all men but about a particular kind of men
It's because they erased our collective memory, woman are no longer woman and men are no longer men.
It goes both ways same like most women only look at me as a boy toy sorry to sound cocky but tall handsome and with six packs and beautiful body that's what they say and when you start believing it's real friendship but it was all about cocka
Learn to be assertive. Women make it seem as if being feminine will make you weak-willed, insecure, and naive. Be feminine but still be assertive (not aggressively assertive unless in certain serious situations), still stand your ground, be confident, don't let people undermine you, speak up, have a backbone for Christ's sake. People think that being feminine is suddenly being weak but it's far from it. Be feminine, confident, wise, kind, and strong-willed.

And that is when you use your masculine energy.
I know this seems crazy judging by the high proportion of dislikes in this video. This is energetic bodily embodiment and honing of energies that you can only understand with consistent practice. I request you to have an open mind and not discard things you don't understand due to lack of experience.

If you really want to figure out women's contributions to the world and society, how our work and efforts and sensualities have bettered humanity, the information is out there. You don't. HI there, With the exception of the wage gap, I think she's trying to say that women who want respect and power in the world, do not need to act and dress and try to think like a man to get it. We can be ourselves and still make an impact. When women try to compete with men on their level, they become an incomplete version of men and vice versa. so long word short....You can be strong.......and feminine.. :)
You really expect someone to try and speak to you when you seem to think that "shaking your breasts" should be something listed as what women do to be empowered or save the planet? Perhaps if you seemed to come from a place of actual ignorance and not feigned ignorance just to start a fight she would have bothered to answer your question.

I've never seen dance as an art form but I'm a musician and the only time I'm turned on by dancing is when my music gets people onto the dance floor. I'm forgetting Ballet, now that's what I call artistic. What a strange combination The Blues and Ballet.

I did bellydancing for 2 years and i said that it should be taught to schoolgirls.for body positivity. We ranged in age from 12 to 70. I have never liked exercise more. I loved this talk and explanation of the movements. I must start appreciating my feminitys strength more not less
Oh, the freedom of movement of one's own body equals real self identity. Don't be fooled by how weird the moves are, this is a great exercise for both women and men (a lot of the moves are masculine even in the arab world). Men and women can be only exist properly if they are whole: soul and body are both healthy. That's why we all should connect to our bodies. If male and female energies are suppressed, the body gets ill - so let's move.
The thing is, to me, the moves aren't weird at all. They're legit belly dance movements, and dances very popular in arabic and turkish cultures.

I think that the problem is the constraint that the words "feminine" and "masculine" put on people. People should be able to feel comfortable being who they are. Why should a man have to be masculine? Why should a woman have to be feminine? But it's true, femininity is seen as something lesser than masculinity, and that needs to change. Open minds and less judgement.
Men represent the masculine energy/principle and women represent the feminine energy/principle. These are a part of the universal laws, specifically the law of Polarity. Meaning There’s an opposite to every phenomena (hot/cold, wet/dry). Of course there’s a spectrum but the core principles hold. Questioning this goes against the Laws of Nature/Universe/God. We can do it if we want but it’s probably not the best course lol

Kind of hard to be feminine when you have to finish raising your boyfriends and husbands.
Eddie Q - We need to make different choices as to what kind of BF or husbands we choose - I speak from life experience - and to get out of unhealthy relationships that victimize or repress our worth- sometimes we have learned these negative things from those who raised us - people who raised us as women not to have high expectations or proper boundaries in our lives - a true healthy relationship supports one another.

No one is forcing you to raise them. Learn to make better choices, don't settle for less than you deserve.
Compassion is masculine? If so, is it excusively masculine? Be feminine and let experience teach. Just like if a girl tries to learn to feel and be feminine by a dating a "bad boy". Don't actually do that on your partner, but just be who you are and you'll attract what you need out of him; he'll learn feel and be masculine around you. Stop complicating it.

Definitely the most informal Tedx I've ever watched. I must say, I have definitely been conditioned to believe that I can not do what she is doing in public. I actually felt embarrassed watching her. I think its sad that I feel this way. However, I love her energy and her message. Really gets me thinking.

thank you for telling it like it is. For years, I have suppressed my softer, feminine side to deal in society as people seem to have equated it with weakness and silliness even but now I realize that I was made as a woman for a purpose. I want to embrace my femininity as much as I can now.

So grateful. I recently did some healing work around boundaries and saying no. It was such a support to my healing work to say no with my body. It is my belief that if we practice this, we will send the energetic message that we say no. "No, this is my body and not your object. You will respect me."

This is the MOST EXCITING TALK I have seen about Women coming into their right place in society in a long time. I have thought this to myself for all of my 59 years, and have been pushed down in society into a quiet, elegant, intelligent woman, who, inside is extremely repressed. A diary filled with the questioning of why can't I be who I am inside, on the outside? I am so grateful to the internet and finding women like me, even if they don't live near me. I see so clearly. I walk in a new way as of this moment. Transformational.

Let girls be girls -- why is that not a saying that is passed around more? It's because feminine qualities are often seen as a fault, a reason that hinders success. Classic grace and elegance has supported many strong women in the past, why is it that grace and elegance is seen as submissive to traditional gender roles now? And by the way, what is wrong with adhering to traditional gender roles BY CHOICE? The problem before was not having a choice, but now that we have one, why are we dismissing some of them because they're 'traditional'?
I really loved this - such a great way to demonstrate and teach a perspective. To all rise together, and each support through your own strengths with what you can uniquely do. One does not need to be like another to accomplish the same level of greatness.

I loved this talk. Yes it was too long and got a little preachy at the end [not cool] ...but it was great overall.
The dance is symbolic of work that women must do to stay competitive with our men, yet still keep our female essence intact.
I am in a female dominated field and this talk still applies.
