  • This is hopefully the only Hollow Knight video you will ever have to watch if you're a newer player wanting to get further into Hallownest and explore on a deeper level. I've linked relevant resources in a pinned comment, as well as some other videos here in the description that may help you out once you've gotten further and are looking to stay with the game after completion.

    - discovering that trying to go to every attempt of a boss fight with full soul and health was no more successful than just running there and accepting less than ideal condition
    - panic stopping c-dash in sewers and getting stuck at the bottom of the world (I wasn't skilled enough to get out and had to do what was for me the most difficult boss that made me contemplate quitting)

      @cass6020 Před 3 lety +1

      With NKG I just can't figure out how to space myself for a couple attacks and have trouble reading them fast enough to react properly. With Sly I think some time in godhome would help me learn the fight, I haven't put that much time into it. I'm also nowhere near finishing all the godhome bosses on radiant. Coliseum is the one I've been focusing on lately. I make it pretty far, but take too much damage throughout and end up dead, I could use tips on the best way to eliminate things before they can kill me there. (I sometimes die during wave 12 with the mawleks, if I don't die then it's during wave 14 with no floor).
      .....I also haven't fought the radiance. I know I should at some point, but I've been avoiding it

    • @crazydudeyt549
      @crazydudeyt549 Před 3 lety +2

      @@cass6020 so there a couple thing i want to help you with. I'll start with the Coliseum since that's what you are currently focusing on. Dont sleep on the upgrades. Get all the pale ore get all the charm notches and then go get the fight finished. Also if you have all of that done use the charm with the nail arts. If you have pure nail great slash will kill everything at the most annoying section(no floor section) aside from the guys with the swords which are pretty easy to pogo on and the mantis spin shooter guys. For those just use spells.(try not using descending dark or if you havent upgraded yet delete dive 😂). Now nkg. You must figure out which attack you are comfortable with and attack only during those artacks. He has very low health if you think about it so you can afford playing passively. I'll just give you three attack tips for you to take into consideration. When he does the bats attack simply jump between the first two and shadow dash through the third one. The forth one is fast and way to low to get hit so you shouldn't worry about it as long as you are moving towards nkg. For the fire pillars just remember that he always spawns 4 so just move slowly towards him and once he finishes all four just yodel up his ass once. And finally the paferfish attack. I've always been ok with bullethell so that isn't such a problem to me so if it is for you just stay calm and it will finish sooner than you think. The tip I wanted to give you for the puffer fish attack is that he does it when you reduce his health 25% so if he does it 3 times just know that a few more hits and he is finished. Now sly who was also my pain and suffering. I'll give you a tip for his last fase which is probably the hardest to figure out. When he comes charging at you on the final fase simply dash away from him and great slash behind you. The great slash frames are so big that you can hit him while being outside of his saw nail blade or whatever the fuck it is. Note that shade soul is advised because in this case you wont be able to heal so....why not just use the soul to kill him. Either way that's all I had to say stay awesome and good luck in the hall. Btw you are currently taking to a guy who has beaten all bosses on radiant including absolute radiance and has defeated poh. I'm currently working on the weathered mask

    Nice! One thing I would like to add out of my own experience - and is fundamental to any souls-level-difficult games: DO NOT EXPECT TO COLLECT AND MAINTAIN GEO/SOULS/ECHOES/EXP. Focus instead on learning enemy behaviors and working on your timing for defense and offense.
    Too many times when I was a noob did I give up solely because I lost an exorbitant number of experience before I finally just said "FUCK IT we'll go on ahead to something else," and that was the best thing I could've done for myself for these types of games.
    Games like this (Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro, Hollow Knight, etc) have a cunning way of tearing you down - learning to build yourself back up is as essential in-game as it is IRL.

I would love to continue this game but I don’t know how to get over this.

      uh, if you're both still here, and haven't done both, NKG is a really hard but predictable boss. I recommend getting all the upgrades before fighting him (pure nail, all mask and SV, etc) there are 4/5/6 attacks of him? I forgot. but just remember this: dash away (or through him if you're cornered) if he does the uppercut attack. I suggest being careful here because his hitbox is messy at times. for the dive attack you want to double jump, as trying to pogo is very risky. the fire bat attack you just dash after the 2nd fire bat goes through you. the pillar attack is, uh, the easiest of the bunch, just gotta open a map and walk slowly and use abyss shriek after the 4th glows shows. the cloak spike is, pretty explanatory, just gotta side step. and the puff attack, you do small hops if there's 1 fireball at the floor. every 4th line will be a double-fire wall. and for mantis lords, just get upgrades 1st if you're not up for it. You'll need alot of backtracking in this game after all.

    • @HeyYouFromThatGame
      @HeyYouFromThatGame Před 6 měsíci +1

      I recommend healing when Grimm's staggered (2), after the pillar attack (if no shriek) (1), and (if you want) cloak spikes (1). And you can only heal once in the mantis lords fight.

    Charm interacrions are the coolest thing. I thought that dashmaster was basically useless, but it increases Sharp Shadow damage to 1.5x nail instead of 1.0x, which makes it suddenly very valuable. Similarly weaversong+sprintmaster+grubsong lets the weaverlings gather Small amounts of soul and move and strike more quickly (consistent soul gain is essential for minon builds). So many useful interactions, none of them listed in game.
    On a different note, quickslash is the best. Better soul gain bc more strikes, better damage output (as much as 2x, depending on the enemy), less downtime between strikes (which makes nail bouncing easier), and lets you parry multistrike attacks (notably the Pure Vessel strikes) or punish parries, which is hard to do without it. I rarely take quickslash off, except for when doing a specific build for certain bosses

      Idk if this helps, but here are a few tips I picked up along my journey, as I also got quickly overwhelmed in the beginning:
      1) When exploring, try to stick to a single area and try to do as much as possible in there before going to a new area/biome
      2) In Iselda's and Cornifer's shop, you can buy pins of different sorts and these are very helpful to keep track of different npc's and interesting locations. On top of that however, you also get markers you can use to pin important things to the map: this is especially useful when you can't progress further in an area, and so you mark it in order not to forget about it. You can also use it to pin bosses or grubs or whatever needs remembering.
      3) Use Wayward Compass at first, if you get lost easily. There's no shame in that.
      4) Check the map regularly and keep in mind that it is always simplified in comparison to what the Knight sees. One single room in the map can actually be composed of smaller rooms, corridors, etc.
      5) Play the game. Playing will familiarise you with it and it will get easier.

    Can we just agree on something here. Nightmare King Grimm is one of the most best bosses in video game history. The fight being very fast paced and if you mess up it will cost you greatly since NKG takes 2 masks instead of 1. Also the background slowly changes as the battle or “dance” progresses. Everything I love about video games are in that fight and when you do beat it you feel so accomplished. Huge thanks to team cherry on creating this masterpiece.

      Unless you are talking about silksong news that are almost extinct. When was the last time we got something new after the godhome patch in 2018

      @@crazydudeyt549 well it's understandable while I think they could give more news. I dont want rushed content or demos becuase games take time. they could probably give more news and just arnt for some reason.
      But hollownest has always been a mysterious place who knows what lies ahead

      @@callumfootitt5366 I agree for both of your statements but I really dont care about waiting for silksong as long as its amazing.

    Thank you! I got burnt out on Hollow Knight because I didn't understand how to use or combine charms. I still don't but I'm starting to feel the desire to give it another go.

    I knew most of this, but I didn't know that you could extend the up charge melee ability. Thank you for the new info.

    It’s not like I won’t watch the video, but I’m pretty sure there are no “beginners” left

      Nope, beginner here.
      I'm struggling hard, so I thought...
      I rage quit this game a couple of times and I'm only in the second area.
      I would love to play it, enjoy it, fall in love with it, but it's so hard and I'm more of a damage boost kinda gamer.
