@@alexander-1 i charge less than shops that offer 2 year or lifetime warranties. It’s a trade off. But Im pretty lenient depending on the issue

@@badatps4 He forgot many steps (or didn't show them in the video) and without these steps the MacBook won't get that there's a new battery and will damage it. That's why the costumer is coming back after a year
Tip: if you're mailing your device to a repair shop change the passcode to something simple that's only a few letters long.
Also, remove any personal data you don't want them seeing.

@@Im_Frustrated45 broken screen, old battery, won't connect to wifi, won't connect to Bluetooth, you wanted a mod. There's a million reasons why I would send a still mostly functional device to the repair shop.
If you can't change the password, you probably need a new phone.

This is exactly what I'm afraid of when giving people a device to replace the battery in. They put shit batteries in which barely last 1 year and then the problems are back.
And Apple's engineering team are a bunch of psychopaths because they glue down the battery just to inconvenience everyone.
And then they will charge you money again.
To be fair, with apple authorized service isn't that much different. Their batteries last me 2 years at best.

Samsung has a repair mode. It's like a second space with no data, they have all the liberty but can't see any of your stuff
In my personal experience replacing batteries for my work, the biggest killer of batteries is that people leave them plug in 24/7 and never give them a proper charge/discharge cycle. We just had about 20 laptops where the batteries were swollen because someone left them plugged in for about 4 months straight
Isn’t the OEM charger supposed to regulate stuff like that?
@@ChiquitaSpeaks yeah, bad OEM design. And on top of that my notebook has a feature where it stops at 60, 80, or 100%, based on what you set.
Since I use it mostly plugged I set it to 60%.

3rd party repair shops cant get apple original batteries so we have to resort to chinese replacements. Most of the time they are fine but others can have rapid degrading cells so its usually a gamble whether you get a good battery or not. Most repair shops give out 1 year warranties on parts like this.

I used to recondition MacBooks of all kinds as a licensed Apple repair location. Everything I did was called reconditioning because they'd go up for sale a certified used equipment, but if I had a dollar for every battery replacement I did, I'd be typing this on something nicer than a iPhone 13 Pro
What you happen to know if a mid 2015 MacBook Pro plugged in would still boot with a faulty or fully dead battery? The OS was reporting battery service for some time and I just used it plugged in since it was poor, Just don't know if generally with a power supply plugged in a bad battery can prevent anything. I'd hate to throw money at it just to find out it's something else. Chime, black screen, no external display working, fans kick on, and nothing else. Cheers

Ironically has Apple the phone and laptop with the longest battery life, IF you consider the mainstream market only… The fold 4 has the closest battery life on the android side. Not sure about laptops

At a repair shop near me, they don’t require passcodes, in fact, they won’t even take your passcode, it’s against their regulations. (EU)
The repair shop I always go to will test the device once you come in to pick it up, and they make you input it and hand it back to double-check. Also, since it's your device, they ask you how it looks and if say for instance you needed a screen replaced if the colors look good or not.
Just a friendly reminder; once the battery has been disconnected and replaced, the device will not power unless it's plugged into power once (preferably with a genuine charger).

Having passcode is very helpful especially it allows for you to test the screen more. You can test the screen if there are any defects and works as it should.

Was it an aftermarket battery, non genuine? I’m still using my 2012 MacBook Pro.
Apple does not, under any circumstances, sell official batteries to third party repairers who are not massive conglomerates like Best Buy in the US or Currys in the UK. Those that they do sell are only sold for service use, they cant be sold on. This is why they have to use third party.
If you see "Official Apple Batteries" on the open market, they can only be one of three things. Pulled from a donor phone and therefore used, stolen stock or counterfeit. There are hundreds of factory's pumping out fake Apple vinyl wraps for Batteries that shady companies put of their third party Batteries, before they flood the marketplace sales channels, because people will always pay more for apparently genuine batteries.

I just remembered warranty isn't the same in the US as it is in Germany, our warranty says that even repairs need to be replaced for free if the repair was faulty within 2 years after the repair. (Only if it was an error of the repairshop though, as is the case in the short)

I have a 2009 MacBook Pro that will not even start. The battery had to be replaced as it had bloated, but when I installed the new battery, I got it to start once, but after I turned it off, it did not turn on again. I tried all the keyboard shortcuts with the power button, but nothing worked. However, the Caps Lock light sometimes works.

How long a battery lasts is mostly dependent on how a person uses the device. If they use it all day 24/7 maxing it out. That shit could wear out really quickly, you’d think its the part and its not, its your expectations. Y’all gotta remember batteries are consumables and are expected to wear out after a specific amount of cycles.

Why would it be necessary to send in the passcode only for a screen replacement?
Because you can't test the screen properly if you can't put different media types on it. Just the lock screen isn't a good test and tells the repairer next to nothing.
The same customer bought car in dealership with full tank in it. Came back after a while claiming that car doesn’t drive anymore and it shows that tank is empty.
Warranty on batteries usually is short as if it is faulty it will show signs within a month.
After a year it’s clearly the problem with customer’s MacBook or rather customer itself.

To be fair a pre-M1 pro lasts about 3-4 hours even though Apple advertised it as 8. That’s probably what he wants, so when he gets below 8 he thinks the battery is defective

if he is using the wrong charger then the battery just wont charge
@@sixunity1171 wrong. You can use a compatible charger which is supplying the insufficient power to charge it under full load. This would lead to continuous charge-discharge cycles eventually breaking the battery. The wrong charger can indeed charge it.
