Thank you for doing this, and hope many medical facilities do sonething similar for the people that work there

It's terrible the state of first responders/health care members mental health. My mom, a nurse of 25 years has lifelong mental struggles due to her career. A couple of years ago she was punched in the face by a 6'3" 300lb man (as a 4'11" petite woman) and has dealt with flashbacks daily. Covid was definitely another big hit on it (has been the point of having to stop working at this point) these are just 2 of many scenarios that have added to the issues. Its devastating to see her health/quality of like be so poor as she has been dedicating herself to her career! So much respect for those on the front line

Because of the great care from these wonderful nurses and doctors who care about people they are doing great now. So thank you for keeping our families safe. Thank you George for recognizing our first responders and creating something for them where they can just take a break from life for that moment. George be safe.

First responders deal with a lot. They're the ones first on the scene and the last to leave. They are not only treating people, they are also the ones having to break the news to family, friends, etc. when things don't go well. Seeing the things I saw while deployed to Iraq was enough....having to deal with the trauma and everything as a career in the medical field is no different really. You never forget, you have dreams, and nightmares about it and you really can't talk about it with everyone because unless they've been in that career, they would never understand.
As I'm writing this, I'm thinking about the teenage boy we just lost here in the town I live in this morning...gone way too soon. Not only what the family is going through, but think about the first responders... police, rescue, nurses, doctors, all of those involved that had to endure a child losing their life much too young. It seems we lose a lot of kids every year for one reason or another....its not a great feeling. Its not quite as bad when you lose a parent, grandparent, etc. but losing a young member of society it just really hits you harder, you think of all the things that boy or girl could have been all the things they'll never get to do, you'll never see them again, they never even got to finish school, they never got to walk down the isle to get married, etc.
Our first responders need to be taken better care of than they have ever been. They work long hours sometimes without breaks, sometimes without eating, all to make sure that our loved ones in need are taken care of. When you see a first responder, thank them, show them you care, pay for their meal for them (I have done so several times, makes me feel great). Our first responders need our help just as much as we do theirs...make sure they know the job they do isn't going unrecognized.

In the UK I have a lot of cousins and nephews/nieces who are paramedics, doctors, nurses and other medical staff that were both overworked and exposed to risk during covid. The actual number is 16, and of those 16 there were two who definitely got covid and two others who had symptoms early on but were not tested at that point. All are now tested regularly as things have settled down. Every day was a worry for us all but we have been lucky overall.

Good on George to the rescue for doing this, but the sheer numbers of people who have caught Covid-19, been treated for it and even died, yet Alone the numbers of medical professionals who are getting burnt out and exhausted from treating the Covid-19 patients alone , yet alone who knows how many medical professionals who may have contracted the disease in the USA, makes me glad that I live in Australia, where thankfully Covid-19 numbers have been low.

There is also a condition called pica in which animals obsessively eat non food items. Licking a lamp like this would qualify. One of mine eats any paper left on the floor. It is common for cats to shred or chew on paper, but he actually eats it. We have to be very careful to not let any paper fall on the floor.

They have zero idea what stress is like in combat.
I'm not trying to diminish their stress because they have nothing more serious to compare it to. But compared to my experiences in combat their stresses are insignificant.
I'm sure they were traumatized but they have no idea what traumatized really is.
