How NYC doctors worked on the frontlines of COVID

  • The staff at an elite ICU in New York City had seen many emergencies, but nothing close to the start of the coronavirus outbreak in March 2020. CBS News' Lesley Stahl sits down with doctors from New York-Presbyterian/Weill-Cornell Hospital, and with journalist Marie Brenner, author of "The Desperate Hours," to pull back the curtain on the inner lives, struggles and triumphs of doctors who were living in what felt like a war zone.

I am a very proud native New Yorker. I lived through this. Ambulance sirens blaring 24/7 for MONTHS. People who do not live here will never understand the level of sheer daily terror. Everyone was focused on people coming in from Asia and did not realize till months later the COVID-19 virus was coming through Kennedy Airport from Europe and into New York as a hub for spread throughout the eastern seaboard and beyond.
We can thank Donald Trump, who admitted to Bob Woodward on an authorized telephone recording - for admitting he knew COVID-19 was extremely lethal in January 2020 but told NO ONE because he did not want to create PANIC. Is there no criminality or liability for his deliberately withholding crucial, life saving information?
Every night in NYC at 7:00 for 5 minutes people opened their windows and banged pots and pans to show enthusiastic support for our HEROES:
Everyone in the NYC medical profession who did everything humanly possible to save lives. And at the White House, Trump did nothing.

As someone in healthcare, watching that poor patient they profiled be guided down the aisle like an expressionless corpse, this was a painful video. I knew that when the fear subsided, there wouldn't be a lot of substance behind it. We see it already. I went from "vector of infection" (one parent's words to me) to being lied to about a patient's infection status because they want therapy for their kid. So much for all those #$%& pots.

Those doctor didnt want to save people on ventilators of you can remember such; because they stood a risk of infection. Honestly; I've been around the world twice; and would pick doctors from just about any country over practicing orangutans in the USA. 9 OF 10 doctors in the USA should be in prison for failing their patients due to hatm, fraud or not following their oath. I doubt they'll be many who inherit glory in the end. One of America's worst institutions by far; yet the media have been making them look great for decades. One day you'll understand what i mean.
