- "I was glad when they said unto me, We will go into the house of the Lord."
How true is that, especially on this Feast of Pentecost as the (fully vaccinated) Cathedral Choir sang their first anthem since March 2020!
Recorded live during Holy Eucharist, May 23, 2021. Permission to broadcast this music obtained from ONE LICENSE with license # A-717455.
Wow! The first American choir I have heard that sings pure straight notes. Usually US choir folk have incessantly strong operatic vibratos so incompatible with choral music. So well done to the choir of St Philip and choral director. Just wonderful!!! As to the organist- such wonderful passion and expression. Hard to find better than this.
We do love our opera! :)
Trebles are the best for Anglican choral music as it was largely written with them in mind. Girls seem to be similar in tone to boy trebles up to around age 14. Most adult Ladies seem to struggle producing the flute like treble tone. However, this choirs ladies get very close.
@@highvoltageswitcher6256 it all comes down to the choir director and how the choir is guided. Here is a superb result from someone who really knows what they are doing. Just so well done!!
Kudos to the organist, who performs the intro with such great passion 👏🏻🙏🏼👍🏼😃🤞🏻
Imagine all that plus the Vivate in Westminster Abbey London.
I just heard this at the coronation of King Charles III. That was absolutely splendid with full orchestra and the vivats for their majesties. But this version is reverent yet passionate. Wonderful!
St. Phillips, in Atlanta, is a beautiful space. The cathedral is home for a beautiful Aeolian Skinner Pipe Organ that is well suited for this music.
Hats off to the choir and the organist.
This organ playing is epic. Choir also sounds perfect!
Absolutely beautifully! Several years ago our choir sang this for the ordination of our Rector at St. John's Episcopal church; USA Maryland
The organist👏👏💯💯
Princess Catherine walked down the aisle to this when she married Prince William.
Oh!!! Wow!!! Great Passion and clarity St Philip"s. Westminster, Kings College, St Paul's...and St Philip"s right up there with them. Awesome!
I was surprised how close this is to an English cathedral sound. Like another commenter said a distinct lack of vibrato. Sopranos need to sound like trebles to perform English coral music in the style that conveys its true intended delivery. They need to have a flute like quality to their voices. Really good on the top b flat at the end.
Excellent. Organist was amazing.
What a lucky organist to be at the centre of all that lovely singing!
The Organist was superb! Really well done!
I was thinking the same thing as I watched and listened to her .She has her whole body and spirit in,playing for sweet Jesus
I love this song so much! Well done.
One of the most fabulous pieces of choral music. I loved to sing it.
One of the best mixed choir performance of this iconic hymn.
Wow. Excellent dynamically and the timbre of the blend is unreal for a live sound. 👏 Seriously. I'm unsure if the perceived sound is primarily due to mic placement --- but that too needs to be noted for tasteful management. All around excellence. World leadership.
Love.
Awesome choir.
O my Goodness 😭❤️
Fantastic !
Wow!
Marvellous
Absolutely beautiful!!
Beautifully performed and executed
Beautiful
Dr. Dale Adelmann choirmaster.
Sang under his direction at St.Paul's Cathedral in Buffalo, NY throughout the 90s. Loved singing the bass part in I Was Glad 😊
