This was one of my Top 10 favorite movies growing up and is probably in my Top 50 of all time. It’s so underrated, the nostalgia, the cast, and storyline, and fond memories of my childhood. It’s so 90’s and I own it on DVD !!

It's rustbelt has-seen-better-days city where most of the students will never go to college, have never been to a beach (Great Lakes perhaps) and are worried they'll just get a job like their parents. Jack learned how to resolve his issues through violent means through his upbringing, and Mitchell is spinning an unrealistic life to all his students. Alas, real life wasn't so idealistic. The new kid doesn't show everyone how to live. Instead he too gets pulled down into the mire and dies of a drug overdose.
Being an adult now, I have a totally different outlook on Mitchell. I would hate him too. A guy who thinks he's so damn cool, so wise, pretentious, and purposely flashy. It's like, calm down dude.
When I was a kid I use to think Mitch was an awesome dude in the movie but watching the movie now and if I wasn’t the new and met Mitch for my first time I wouldn’t like him. He’s trying to fit in the first day when he should just be himself sure people would hate him if he acts like he’s the cool dude.
