Only seen this about 37 times on HBO back in the 90s
Thats where i first saw it back in the day
Same! I was at a motel.
only saw this about 100 times because i bought it! lol. back when dvds were a thing and i got it here on YT.
@@JosephJoseph-ky5pb some town lodge in Arizona looking for a permanent home here. Back in 94 hockey is the one sport I perused an interest, so I was into this film. This f film had just made home media that year, I remember when this was in theaters
Had to be 37 huh?
no matter how bad you think you are, always show respect to the mothers
I remember being like 6 years old and waking up at 5am while my family was still asleep, turning on HBO and watching this by myself. It’s a core memory now.
Me too bro😂
Exactly 💯
Wow, that's a nice memory. I feel like I have a similar memory to this. Mom in the kitchen cooking breakfast and I just woke up in bed, instantly turned on tv to a Disney movie.
Dude did the same thing as a kid!! Memories man
@@curtissharpe-gb1mb we live in a simulation, man! We have no unique experiences, they’re all shared lol
"Would you boys like some grape Kool-Ade?" has been playing in the back of my mind constantly since 1997
Same
along with all the other stuff, this movie is GOD.
Back when life was simple
Edward Vazquez tell me about it
And so perfect 😍
Edward Vazquez and most ppl took it for granted
And bullying ran rampant. No thanks. That generation was full of assholes.
@@MajorPaign yea well ya certainly traded it for even more asswholes!!!
"would u boys like some grape Kool Aid? cmon Father lets make some caramel corn!"
best host ever!
Lol he gets up and takes a pause before walking into the kitchen
(Slaps legs)
dont forget the oleo. aka basically margarine.
Both his parents were awesome
"Only the most dangerous hill in the whole town! The last guy who even tried to walk down it got so messed up, he forgot who he was. I saw him, pins in his head, ugh!"
the hill being another antagonist to everyone was dope
This scene is actually very beautiful. This film was so special to me as a kid and even now as a man of almost 40, I can find such peace and joy from this scene. Right when they embrace him and the music cues in, is such a beautiful moment.
Same. I'll be 42 next month and this movie has never left my memory. Back in the "extreme" early 90's me and my friends all grabbed our blades and tried to recreate devil's backbone ourselves. Good times!
I'm right there with you. I watched these scenes as though it was part of my life. I'm 40 and it still hits the same
Its the Stuart Copeland score that does it. He used almost the same theme for the movie Fresh. Blows me away how well he nails it
@@thegadflygang5381 i used to watch this every time it came on HBO in the 90s. Stuart Copeland did an amazing job . I always felt Thomas Newman resembled his arrangement/style. Both are great composers.
@@john82keys oh yeah, you know it. A good score takes a very good film and elevates it to the next level. James Horner on Wrath of Khan with his seafaring and Klingon score or my favorite Braveheart with A Gift of Thistle and the thunderous "freedom" crescendo. Zimmer with that opening melody of Gladiator and the Coliseum.
Thomas Newman with "Whisper of a Thrill" for Meet Joe Black that rips your heart out. American Beauty. Oh man, what would Shawshank be without Newman.
Vangelis on literally everything, especially Chariots of Fire and the Bounty
. Tangerine Dream.
Copeland and Newman are probably my faves as well. I can't put my finger on why I like Copeland but whether Wall Street or Rapa Nui, his mad scientist take hits a chord
Lol the best is when they drop their bad boy act for just a moment “no, no thank you ma’am”
😂🤣 that part kills me every time! Lol no matter how tough you are it's hard to be tough around a sweet ol woman offering Kool aid back in the 90s
Even the most hardened and toughest ppl know not to step outta line w/ the moms
A very young Jack Black. I loved this movie back in the day!
Never got tired of this movie when I was a kid.... only seen it at least a million times
I must have rented this movie 30 times from Blockbuster back in the 90’s.
good god, it was on hbo every day.
This and Brink remind me of my childhood. Randomly thought of this movie but could only remember devil’s backbone and searched for it and this came up. Lol I remember Seth Green but not Jack Black 😂. Hella funny. The nostalgia is real on this one
Same here bro, same here. Also Johny Tsunami.
All 3 of those movies ya named was exactly my childhood recording these movies on vhs off the tv and rewatching them as a kid I actually still skate till this day (I’m 30)
You younger guys might love the fact that I’m in my early sixties and have seen this movie at least 20 times now.
It’s just a great feel good high school movie with an awesome final 20 minutes of some serious action packed rollerblading on a really dangerous course
Mi caso es su caso!
Just keep being you my friend
Getting older doesn't mean you have to lose your sense of fun & feeling good
Enjoyed the comment
This movie was ahead of its time to me … it felt like like a 2000s film
DON'T YOU DARE, THIS IS 90'S GODLINESS.
Mitchell Goosen taught me how to talk to girls
Is that Baby Joker?!
Korlon Parker yes
Aztec warrior
Baby Joker is the fat one, Little Joker is the tall one, he is Joker
@@FROSTWSA THANKS FOR THE CLARIFICATION
Korlon Parker 😎 as Mitchell would say “stylin”
brings back memories of my childhood this is what we grew up doing that's why this movie was so rad
90s allday
I still own the DVD to this day , my favourite movie of all time
I'm an Aztec Warrior Homes!
Hundreds and fifties… bigass titties?
The score in this film has always stuck with me.
Hey did you find the score
Indeed. Done fabulously by Mr. Stewart Copeland
Recently just got this on DVD brought back memories haven't seen since 2007 reminds me of Brink and Johnny Tsunami
One of the greatest scenes in cinematic history
ikr. something about this scene is so good. love the music
@@majesticfool 2:16 When they mention devil's backbone their reactions are just the perfect amount of cheesy and I love it...not hating, i can appreciate this type of movie for what it was
This scene inspires me so much. It is so beautiful. This scene is by far the best part of the film.
the ending to this is one of my personal faves to this day.
@@joesmith9216 oh the last 20 minutes are fantastic
This is a great movie. Love it.
I wish I had a time machine so I could set it back to when this movie was made.
For the longest I didn’t realize that was Seth Green; he looks like a young Carrot Top here
A 90 minute Rollerblade commercial… literally.
That said, yeah, it’s a classic.
The mom is the secretary from Ferris Bueller's Day Off and the dad is Mr. Dewey from Saved by the Bell.
It's funny she told them wylie talks about them all the time and the look at him that part made me laugh when I was a kid
Something about this scene and the soundtrack is amazing.
Any idea how to find the song? To this scene?
@@ericperry27 i looked cant find it!!
@@ericperry27 Stewart Copeland is the composer though. hes done a lot of other great stuff, and he was the drummer for the band The Police
I adore the musical cues and this scene. When they smile and embrace him and the beautiful music kicks in it is just a happy beautiful moment.
Has anybody found the score for the scene thanks
This scene brought tears to my eyes. 😭
It's so beautiful. Even watching it now as a 40 year old makes me feel like I am back in middle school watching this on HBO after school.
Airborne must have swept the academy awards this year
"Would you boys like some grape Koolaid" has been a staple in my vocabulary for 2 decades lol
Can't see this without thinking of Next Friday
Lady bugs for me
Devil backbone:🤯
"Wiley talks about you all the time!" Lol
Seth's hair!
Things got real when Drake said “Devils backbone” 🤭👀lol
Watched this so many times when it came out on VHS. I was just going into highschool lol holy shit does time fly!
It sure does my friend. However, even now at age 38 I can enjoy this scene and it makes me remember how I felt as a kid seeing it so many times on HBO. Life is beautiful.
"The rules are: there are no rules! Anything goes!"
Love this movie. Takes me back.
_"As a matter of fact, man, we've got a game today against the preps"_
_"That's right, against the preps!"_
That's the way my friends are when I see them
mother was a vibe
Great scene and it brings back great childhood memories....
Nostalgia is a hell of a drug
Seen this for the first time years back on TnT late at night
If none of you ever saw this movie, and you're here for the first time, go watch this. You won't regret it.
I use to love this movie growing in the 90s era my childhood was good in the 90s this was my shit hear brings back so many memories in my childhood the 90s are the best ever
“No thank you ma’am” LOL they respect their elders. Not only that but they admitted that they misjudged Mitchell and apologized?! Shew, even today that takes a lot of balls. This played on Disney all the time when Disney became a regular channel. I remember it when it would be on periodically and when it wasn’t it was a scrambled channel. The last time I remember it being not scrambled was when it was playing an episode of The New Mickey Mouse Club. Channel 17!
Daily Jack Black appreciation time. I am used to this claim being met with accusations that I'm wearing combustible trousers, but I remembered Jables from this movie when I was a kid. I had watched it so many times due to it being one of those regularly-aired-on-weekend-afternoons-by-local-network-affiliate-stations...movies. Dude's been making me howl with laughter practically my entire life, and often unintentionally blows my mind when blowing doors down alongside his brother Kage. This concludes the daily Jack Black appreciation moment. Thank you, and Hail Satan.
A TBS classic
Waking up early on a Saturday in the 90s. Turn the TV on, brings back memories!
Looking back god this movie is corny, but there was something about it that was just fun, thats what the 80s and 90s were about. Didnt matter how cool something was, if it was fun thats all that mattered.
Wiley's father always cracked me up. hes like this dorky wimp that just goes along with everything
He’s the best 😂
Played Mr. Dewey on Saved by the Bell, kind of the same character.
i remember being at my grandmas watching this movie and it’s just one of those 90s that sticks with me. Shiiit the rollerblading and hockey just bring me back lol
ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES OF THE 90'S
The good ol days..I started rollerblading right after this movie came out ‼️💯 I was 11..lol
The dad is the best 😂
At least they had enough sense to be respectful to Wileys parents and house
That music at the end of the scene made the vibe really heavy. Great movie
I grew up to this movie
Jack Black before he was super famous.
He didn’t sing.
That was Classic, Some Guy Loses Himself while walking down a Hill lmfao
2019? Yes and future...! Love
It's funny they looked at him after she said he talks about them all the time
Mitchell was so cute OMG! 😍
Yes girl. Have you seen him today? Google him lol. I about died. Looks NOTHING like he did haha
Such an awesome movie! Surprised it wasn't as popular as it was.
Classic movie
Loved this movie on Disney as a kid 🧒🏻
This is whats called "character arcs"
haha yea a movie from the 90s having better writing than anything from the last decade
Well respectful guys like how we grew up.
This kid in the early 90s had better understanding on life than most people running out country dose today
Seth green n Jack black!..... I loved this movie in the 90s as I was a teenager and so into Rollerblading at the time
One of my all time favorite movies
I love this movie
What always made me laugh about this scene is that when they're offered grape Kool-Aid, that hard ass posse persona momentarily shuts down because they're dealing with an "adult". lol
This movie got rented by me from blockbuster on the weekly basis. And transformers the og movie.. my child hood I am reliving before I die. I'm happy to have memories.....
I want some of that purple
Great film about rollerblading still watching this movie 2023 bad ass
Lol Seth's hair
its always the preps!
Edie McClurg is an American treasure. "Would you boys like some grape Kool-Aid?"
Back in then day when you can patch things up just like that!
downhill rollerblading competitions solve all of lifes problems.
Before that was break dance fighting...🤕
LOFL, the trumpers and the bidens should roller blade it out, mwahhhhh
Everyone badass till the set mom offers kool-aid no thank you ma'am.
Ok I loved watchmen this movie growing up I was so glad when I found it on Amazon one day
Looks like the beginning of a sunny d commercial 😂
But she only had the purple stuff.
Daniel Daly Lol!! Exactly!
The whole movie is a commercial.
Loved this film
If I remember correctly, Disney Channel had played this once back in 1999.
That was a different movie called Brink.
@@SMAAAASHTV Well I saw it somewhere on TV back in the 90s.
Yea they did. In the early 2000s as well. Late at night
@@carmaynejones They did. I remember seeing it on there around 2000 or 2001. In fact that was around the last time I actually watched the movie.
@@ShyGuy83it was always on HBO.
Love this movie !!
No one has conquered the Devil’s Backbone since Mitchell...
I remember thinking the main character was so cool because he was from California and said what's up "bruh"...
Devil's Backbone is absolutely a real street. I grew up rigjt next to it. Although, the location og the final race is not the where the street is located.
When i saw this...as a kid on hbo in the morning...i couldn't possibly fathom 30 years later worrying about commenting for community guidlines....truly pathetic where we are now smh
Drake real pops in this movie
Anyone remembered watching this movie so many times on HBO? 🙈🤷🏽♂️
This is the epitome of a movie being so bad that it’s actually good.
Derek Carr's biopic is wild
