Jordy Kingston, because big clubs and sponsors pressure the FA and the England Manager to play the big names. Look at the Ronaldo (not CR7) debacle for Brazil in the 1998 World Cup. The sponsors demanded he play in the final when he was injured and could hardly walk. Look up a vid on here about how Lamps and Gerard talk about all England Managers played a ridged 4-4-2 to accommodate all the names, but it didn't suit any of their styles. Jack Charlton once asked Sir Alf why certain people were in the team, when there were bigger names out there. He replied, "because some players may not be so skilled but fit the system better, Jack." He played players that were best for the team to win, not because of how famous they were. We won't have a chance of winning again until we can do the same.
This isn't true for Carrick, Carrick has come out and said (BBC Interview) he hated playing for England it made him feel sick so that's why he hardly played.
Deefisher99 You must have misheard what was said in that interview. Going away and hardly playing and making up the numbers in the squad is what made him hate it, not just the idea of going away. Same reason Milner retired last year, said he has no interest in going away just to sit on the bench at his age, which is a fair point.

He makes us won 2-0 vs Villareal to ensure our UCL qualification
Then we drew 0-0 vs Chelsea, leaders of the table
Lastly, we won 3-2 thanks to a double from CR7 vs our old foes Arsenal
